Bypassing the secondary butterflies (STV) - Gen 1 Z1000 (03-06)

  • How to do the common modification of bypassing or disabling the secondary throttle valve (STV) in the throttle body on your 2003, 2004, 2005, or 2006 Kawasaki Z1000 without having to physically remove them.
    NOTE: This will most likely make the engine run leaner at certain rev ranges and is not recommended unless you have a fuel controller (like a power commander) to re-map the fuel table. Otherwise, it could damage the engine!
    NOTE: It has been reported that the FI light will come on with 05 and 06 models even if the sequence is done correctly. In this case, you might have to buy an STV Eliminator from Healtech for $90. The model number needed for the Gen-1 Z1000 is "STVE-07".

    Steps (Starting with the bike off):
    1. Disconnect the black (rear) sensor
    2. Turn the key on (Do NOT start the engine)
    3. Disconnect servo motor
    4. Turn the key off
    5. Reconnect the black sensor.
