Guy I play pick up ice with. About a month ago he scored some vintage CCM Tacks from probably 1995 and decided to try them out. He didn't last thru warm ups and had to go put his regular skates back on. LOL! He said they were so uncomfortable and heavy.
Nah, I’ve worn them, and now I got the RIBCORE 70k and the memory foam technology is way better then then pump, plus all that weight. Best skates I’ve worn
I'm actually about to go play hockey in my vintage Bauer Supreme 3000s, bought in 1998 when I was 18. They are definitely on their last legs and I'll probably replace them soon. (I didn't play much in my 20s which definitely extended their life)
I still use those Gold Nike Quests lol! They're awesome! I don't want to upgrade as they fit me so well. The plastic on the chassis is starting to look very aged though. I suspect if I took a puck off them they'd shatter. I also have the same model of inline hockey skates and hope they're still going strong in 20 years :D
My old man's got a pair of super tacks with custom blades...so nice. I have a pair of RBK pumps it's gimmicky but memorable and they're so mid 2000s. Love classic skates
funny story about Federov and his Nike skates I live in windsor (across the river from Detroit) an old coworker of mine had always told our shop that Fedorov was his "cousin" and could get us game worn merch but it would cost us big money and he'd even get them autographed I passed at the time but always regretted not buying them...anyways forward 6years later the guy got caught selling fake autographed merchandise and Fedorovs attorneys had a Cease and Desist against him and if he ever got caught selling again he'd be getting sued for damages needless to say from that day on my coworker never mentioned Fedorov again.
As an adult who’s just getting into the game please donate the ones that don’t mean much to you. You can change a kids life, seriously. I dreamed of playing all my life, begged n begged and my parents simply could never afford it. Now that I have the means to do so I’m living out my childhood dream and picking up the game as an adult. Just simply donating a set of gear so a kid can learn to skate and go to pick up hockey would be life changing. It truly is the best sport in the world.
Always loved the Bauer Supreme lineup, usually went with the highest rated version of those. I felt like they made a difference in my ability to skate and play.
CCM honestly needs to make the pumps again. Not sure they can with Reebok as a company owning that tech, but get a licensing deal or something. Retro pumps need to make a return
I grew up with the old supremes. I had several of them and they were all great! But after that era skates started to change a lot and now they are so much better it’s insane!
White Supreme LEs went so hard. I had the goalie ones and paired them with the blackout RX8 LE pads. Only equipment I ever had brand-new, lots of good memories.
The Nike Quest! It locked the heel in perfectly and had the best roomy toe cap for my oddly shaped feet. They sure dont make them like they used to. Skates have gotten lighter but im not a big fan of fight and comfort.
Yep, Bauer still makes some roller hockey skates, pants, and protective shirts and girdles under the Mission name. Old school mission skates and pants were great - I had a pair of both and the abuse they could take in games and practice was amazing.
After 18 years I’m sad to sad my pumps finally broke today, best skates I’ve ever owned. Toe box completely disintegrated, I was out there in bladed flops 😢

The Bauer Supremes with the all black blade holder were mine as a kid. Absolutely loved them!
I had a pair of Vectors for 17 years. They finally broke down so bad I had to replace them this season. Purchased in 2007.
As a play it again sports employee, watching this at play it again sports on my break, I can say these are the nicest blades I’ve ever seen!

The blacked out Supreme Composites were my #2 but the best were my 3000’s with the white trim on the back.
