      @xxczerxx 9 лет назад +86

      ISetYourFaceOnFire One of my mates was in London and bumped into Steve, and asked if the trio had anything was in the works, but Steve strongly hinted to Ricky and Karl had a serious falling out due to Karl going his own way with the Moaning of Life, which I think is really sad.

    • @ISetYourFaceOnFire
      @ISetYourFaceOnFire 9 лет назад +42

      Mac
      I knew it...I knew it. I always thought there was some kind of falling out. I mean why would Ricky all of a sudden stop tweeting about karl. Why were audiences in his q and a's told not to ask questions about karl and steve and only questions to do with his current projects. That really is said, if it's true.

    • @xxczerxx
      @xxczerxx 9 лет назад +35

      ISetYourFaceOnFire Well I know this guy really well and he's huge into RSK -but I couldn't believe it either when he told me, I was surprised that Steve would even hint at such a thing, even if it were true. But yeah, Rick's ego appears to be ruining what made him funny in the first place, I bet him and Steve mixed some words at some point too, they seem to be keeping their professional distance, which is such a shame, if you compare their collaborative efforts with their individual projects, it's clear to see their synergy is unmatched when they work together.
      By the way, please excuse my atrocious grammar in the previous comment, I always make f'ups when writing comments on my phone!

    • @onree317
      @onree317 8 лет назад +19

      +Mac Sounds about right. I thought it was really odd how they just got rid of Karl at the start of Derek season 2. I personally think the show fell apart after the first season. Im pretty stoked to see Karl doing season 2 of Moaning. That guy should be filmed at all times. he's too funny.

    • @v0idling
      @v0idling 8 лет назад +34

      +onree317 Karl said in an interview that acting stressed him out and that he basically just didn't like it, which is basically why he quit the show. Ricky backs up this story too, saying Karl was sweating a lot and was so nervous the first few days.
      Anyways, friends who have been friends for so long can sometimes have fallouts. I hope this isn't the case, but it could be.

    Loved it when Karl pushed back against Ricky about Cornflakes.
    Just finished season one. I watched After Life and it was so effing brilliant that I searched out more Gervais projects. I love the fact that there's not a supermodel to be found anywhere. They are all real-looking, ordinary people like most of us. While After Life and Derek are both hilarious, they both are also poignant and born of the best of humanity. Gervais is brilliant, and he knows how to extract brilliance from the people around him.

This series has dragged me through every emotion I ever thought I could have in a half hour. I dont know how he does this. I feel like he reached into my heart and ripped it out. emotionally wonderful series, and the character Derek Brilliant, and in case you havent watched Afterlife, thats a must too. How wonderful it would be to work on one of Ricky's sets! must be the ultimate fun.

    Ricky Gervais is the best thing to happen to comedy in decades ! The term “genius” is overused nowadays but Gervais “is” a comic genius, writer, director. I love everything he’s done. It’s all original and entertaining. I mean seriously, compare a series like Derek to the overrated, boring American series like “The Big Bang”, a show that needs a laugh track literally going off every five seconds minimum. Thank you Ricky Gervais.

    I first saw Derek just about when I had to put my dad into a nursing home. This show hit me every single time. I literally cried at least once every episode, not so much from the schmaltz, but from the genuine emotions it stirred in me because of our situation. Dad died in November, and I've been both anticipating and dreading watching the special. I will always be grateful for Ricky and all for making this show. It will always remind me of dad.

It looked effortless, which shows just how much heart they all really have....... whether they want to own that or not. Brilliantly done.

      It has rung true with me as I was an elderly care nurse and it is true some relatives are complete knobs to their parents, not by putting them in homes, but from the attitude to their elderly parents thinking once they get old they are useless and have no feelings and haven’t had a life or got married or had kids and husbands and lovers, it’s very sad sometimes to watch ☹️ as it rings so true xxxx

    I just found out about this series. My mom is 88 with Alzheimer's. Dad's 93 with dementia setting in and in a wheelchair. Watching them age and lose their former selves is heartbreaking. Today, my mom thought i was her sister. It's hard not to cry at times like that. This series helps me cope. Also, the love Derek(Ricky) has fir all animals is so relatable to me too. Ricky is able to draw upon so many human emotions and scenarios is incredible. He's truly a gift for all that get him and appreciate his talents.

    Never imagined Ricky Gervais to be this kind of writer/director. After Life and Derek have some truly amazing storylines and emotion. The man's funny and he doesn't give a shit what people think. But these shows have some really thought provoking dialogue and scenes that touch your heart. Great, great actors (Gervais, Conaty, Godliman, Wilkinson, Pilkington and of course the amazing Penelope Wilton etc, etc) and you can relate and even if you can't, anyone with an ounce of humanity has to appreciate the balance between comedy and drama he's gifted us with here with these 2 shows. Bust a gut one minute-ball your friggin' eyes out the next. Brilliant TV. Can't wait for After Life season 3 to hit Netflix.
