This video and the last one are the best yet. Well shot and the music really worked with the visuals. Glad the crossing worked out well. Stay Cool is a great trawler. Looking forward to watching your trip north. Thanks again for sharing your trip.
If you haven’t guessed already, we’re pretty cautious boaters and generally don’t take unnecessary risks. However, we like to try new things so I guess that’s a bit if a risk too. But always safety first!😎
Congratulations on your safe trip to and back from the Bahamas! You visited some excellent places that I would like to visit someday. It was nice to see how the ocean was during your crossings. I enjoyed watching your cruise to the Bahamas!
We were the ones that called you on VHF part way across! Seems like leaving early was a great idea, as we arrived in West End it just kept getting worse. I'd say we were in 4-5's with the occasional 6 on the forward quarter. Glad you made it safe, we did too!! Best!
I can't be in the cabin in rough weather. Find either driving the boat or topside helps me the most. Never had it before, but went in to pull frozen squid out of freezer to fish and looked down and then back up figured out what everyone talks about real quick. Thankfully, my dad thought it was too rough and turned the boat around. Still my little secret! I guess not now.
Sea sickness is more common than we realize! Looking out at the horizon helps but so does Gravol or Dramamine… or staying off rough waters. Pleasure boating is the way to go!😎
Welcome back!!!!! I dont know when you will be heading North but we got our Mainship 390 at the Bay Bridge Marina in Kent Island, Maryland and will be bringing her up to our home marina on the Hudson River in early June. So keep us posted when you maybe in Maryland. Again, welcome back 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks Carpe Diem! We are already heading north, not exactly sure when we will be in Maryland but we’ll keep an eye out for you. Safe travels on your new vessel.😎
Great job getting across!! You didn't look green in your comment shots Rachel! I'm sure it was pretty unnerving when the table fell over but you made it and have another "experience " notch in your belt! Thoroughly enjoying your videos and looking forward to the trip back!👍🙂
Thanks Terrie! Malcolm said I turned all different colours.😳😆 Glad to have that behind us and now back to pleasure boating! Thanks for following our journey!😎
Fantastic. So glad the trip was safe although the seas didn’t cooperate. I’m imagining what all you will show us on the East Coast. Certainly the content will be great and it will be fun for me to see how accurate my imagination is. Such a treat.
Thanks Dan! We’re glad we made it back to the US safely. It’s fun for us to see all the different waterways and the ICW is no exception. Thanks for watching!😎
Hey Roger, we’re guessing you went to the Exumas? It takes time to produce the videos and in real-time we are making our way north on the east coast. Safe travels and enjoy your time in the Bahamas!😎
Holding on tight or being chocked off all day is exhausting. As far as being seasick there is only one sure cure: ice cold lemonade, served by a young woman in a yellow summer dress while seated in the shade of a large oak tree, at a late summer church social. Works every time. If you change out any of the elements, yellow dress, oak tree, well it might work but I can’t guarantee it. Such is the persistence of being sick at sea.
You’re right Karl… seasickness is no fun and sometimes inevitable. Thanks for sharing your cure! You paint such a beautiful, relaxing image. And thanks so much for watching this episode.😎
Yes we would go back! We enjoyed exploring the Abacos. Our favourite places are usually anchorages and we especially loved the quiet beside Black Point Cay. Enjoy!😎
Thanks Jason! We are continuing north along the ICW, popping out into the Atlantic briefly near NY and then up the Hudson. Lots more episodes to come.😎
@@staycool123 Thanks for the quick reply. We're really enjoying your travels-- especially in a Mainship! We've done a similar east coast/Bahamas trip in our Mainship 400, Pathfinder. We found time at the wheel to be exhausting until we began using our autopilot more. We are usually able to make minor course change with the +-1 or +-10 keys. A few times, usually with a following seas, we had to steer with the wheel although increasing the sensitivity of the autopilot helped a lot. Looking forward to your next port!
I had the same observation re autopilot versus hand steering. Does your autopilot lose its effectiveness in beam seas? Related, when hand steering you’re standing. Did you have to stay on your feet for most of the crossing? If so, that must have been exhausting.
Like a lot of boats, the autopilot works great in most seas and struggles more in a following sea. Beam seas are usually fine but for comfort Malcolm did hand steer quite a bit for this trip, through the worst parts. At the lower helm, the captain can either stand or sit on a higher stool. It’s nice to mix it up! Thanks for watching Robert😎
don't see what the big deal is about the great loop, doesn't appeal to me. bahamas is a much better excursion to be doing visiting all the islands there.
Hi John and thanks for watching. There are so many options for great boating and it can be personalized to your own preferences. Certainly exploring the Bahamas by boat is pretty special. In our great loop travels we have had some unique experiences and the variety of waterways is incredible.😎

Hey thanks Gary and glad you enjoyed the latest episodes! Stay Cool did great and got us back to the USA safely. Thanks so much for watching!😎
Episode 71 I said " Turn around don't drown ". It's like you said, " Don't be a cowboy " ie... don't press your luck 🤞

Excellent video.
Thank you Stephen!😎

Hi Tim, thanks for reaching out. That was a rough crossing and glad you made it safely! 😎
Rolly poly oly!! 😮 you handled the rough weather like champs😎 I think the size of the swell showed in your shots 👀
Roly poly indeed! The boat can take more than the crew! Usually it looks much less on video😆
Nice to see you made it safe and sound. I like your choice of music.
We are glad to have made it safely. Glad you enjoy the music. We use it to help convey the feeling out on the water. Thanks for watching Patrick!😎
Some kind of crossing! Congratulations
Yes that was a rougher crossing than we would have liked but we’re glad it’s behind us. Now back to pleasure boating! Thanks for watching!😎

Glad you are back and safe. Hope the rest of your trip is great.
Thanks Phyllis! Good to be back! 😎
Glad to have you back. Heck of a ride and I was surprised to see all the traffic. Back to the loop and now it will coastline for a while. Enjoy
Thanks Buck! Great to be back into ICW waters.😎
Glad you arrived safely
We are too and thanks for watching Harold!😎

That weather forecast was more like the ones every day around here
Most forecasts have been on target but this one definitely missed the mark! Thanks for watching Tom😎

Glad to see you back in the States. Sorry we missed each other in the Bahamas. I guess I’m about 3 weeks to a month behind you.

Glad the crossing is done, even happier you enjoyed your adventures in the Bahamas. Look forward to intercoastal updates. Thank you both for sharing!
We are glad the crossing is behind us too! Thanks for watching Randy!😎
Would you go back to Bahamas again? We plan to go there this winter. Favorite places?

welcome back to the US! looking forward to the trip up the eastern coast. are you heading up the Hudson or coming further up towards Maine?
Thanks Jason! We are continuing north along the ICW, popping out into the Atlantic briefly near NY and then up the Hudson. Lots more episodes to come.😎
Wondering if you alwas steer with the autopilot as I do. In one shot at the lower helm you seemed to be using the wheel.
Hi Chris, we use auto-pilot for long passages but for this journey the conditions pushed us around too much so Malcolm did a lot of hand steering. 😎
