Buy a pad of paper and a pencil. One good thing about traveling slowly is it provides plenty of time to think. And while you are thinking, you can jot down some of your best thoughts and ideas before you forget them. I wrote a whole story while driving for 12 hours. I simply jotted notes as I drove down the road. Did not have a cell phone or any other recorder at the time. But no problem. Pencil and paper worked great.
