Saw a comment below already but wanted to get your opinion on all the stuff I've been seeing more and more it lately online about accidental discharge (especially while holstered?) and the polymer grips breaking. Not sure what to make of all that. I picked up the M18 about a couple weeks ago to be my new EDC so hoping I'm not regretting the purchase! haha I appreciate your reviews!
Hahahah it always seems like these videos start to surge when a new P320 explosion photo surfaces! Firstly, thank you for watching. I can’t really speak to the other situations regarding ADs or grips breaking, but I’ll attempt to rehash what I’ve seen from people other than SIG corporate: I’m up to around 7-8k rounds on this thing now. I have yet to have any sort of AD with it. From what I’ve seen from others, it seems that there were some upgrades done to the non manual safety FCUs a couple years ago. I have an Instagram friend that has around 25k through his with no issues. Regarding the broken polymer grips: from what I’ve gathered (once again, from others since I only have a sample size of one) it seems that whenever a round is fired out of battery, combined with a metal mag, this is the result. The same thing can apparently happen to Glocks, but far less dramatic due to the polymer mags they utilize. Overall, would I buy this again? Maybe. If there were no G45s or 19s available at the time, yeah. But my biggest gripe has been $50 mags tbh.
@@distastedefensethanks for quick response! And I assumed you already knew what photo I was alluding to that got posted a couple days ago haha I also read that if your gun was manufactured after the Aug. 2017 voluntary upgrade program start date, then you should be fine. I was just getting nervous/hesitant if an accidental discharge were to happen while I was IWB appendix carrying lmao
The full size models have one long recoil spring instead of the dual recoil springs in all the other models. I wonder if that makes a difference in reliability 🤔
Does the thumb safety get less stiff as you run the gun over time. I was hoping it would be smooth like a 1911 when I handled it at the store but new it felt rough to disengage and engage.
Honestly it’s been so many rounds ago I’m not sure. I would say yes as that’s how most things go, regarding a break in period. How many rounds do you have on yours?
I have yet to see a manual safety P320 AD. I can’t say if I would recommend it for duty use or not since I’m not in that line of work. I do run it as my EDC gun if that helps give you an idea though!
So I have a m17 I carry and I want to basically do the same build you have going on (non intentional) but I also want to know what holster do you use for your OWB I’m going to running tlr1 hl and delta point pro as well as possibly down the line changing the grip module
What I've found for any light bearing holster, most of the retention is on the light itself, not the pistol. So, that shouldn't really be an issue. I recently switched to a Safariland 6354. Before that, I was using a T-Rex Arms Ragnarok!
LOL, yeah, I'm a suckered for FDE and Coyote Tan too. Any unintended engagement or failure to disengage the manual safety on that M18? LOL, I'm ussumjng it hasn't decided to shoot anyone in an 'uncommanded' discharge yet. Sorry to hear about your recoil spring breakage. Welcome to Sig.
Good vid. Did the M18 come with the optics and a LCI? Some people say it dirties the front of the optics and not sure if its true or not especially running 5k rounds plus.
Just found your channel Great video See one of these at the shop today I heard you say it has recoil spring issue Now im in the fence What’s your opinion ? Is it worth 699 ????
I haven’t had an issue since that one went. I’m around 10k rounds now. Mind you this is the new braided coil design so that could have something to do with it
One question got one recently.. and my mag when loaded or even unloaded just seems to wiggle a lil while in the gun .. just poor quality or is there something I can do to tighten or fix?
Just got this gun but need some help. Im planning on getting a vortex defender and it comes with the specific screws for it but will i need a adapter plate for it to work? Please help
So I was asked to be a best man in a wedding and for my boy wedding gift I got him this gun…. Do you feel or think this gun is a good gift for someone that like firearms? I had no clue what he liked and no nothing about firearms but seen you video and just decided to order it. He picked it up this week… has not shot it yet but just wondering you guys thought on it at lease being a decent gift for someone?!?! Thanks for any feedback!
Well hey if you want to be my best man in my wedding I would be happy to have you there 😂 but yeah, they’re good overall. A lot of the problems are blown out of proportion, similar to how the valve tick issues were with the LS7 (if you’re a car guy. That’s the best comparison I can come up with in my head right now) I think it makes for a fine gift. I would have him check on the recoil spring to see if the outer portion has a double braid. If it doesn’t, it’s the older style. That’s what broke on mine.
It’s alright. Like I said before; if the G19 was in stock at the time I would have went with that. For me it’s gotten the job (outside of the recoil spring which I believe has been fixed with the redesigned one)
@@MatJustChillin I will say that doesn’t affect my opinion on it whatsoever. I do prefer the dog water durability of the finish because the more I shoot it, the more character it gets!
I bought the Wilson combat GM for the 15rd just like you. I don’t like the full size grip and to be honest i can run 15rd, 17rd and 21rd is a bonus. I think you made the right choice by mistake. 🤙🏻

Don’t worry if punching out is still hip. I chased the dragon of perfect stance, grip, reload. Curious, did you notice any changes in the way it fit in your holster, when you changed grip modules?
Since i have the light on mine, no. Most if not all of your retention with a light bearing one seems to be from the kydex on the light itself.
Please do a 10k round update in the future!
