Watching these really make me want to see Jonas become a commentator for a ctwc but the dream might never be real cuz' he'll always be too busy participating as a competitor.
I have no idea why I find this so fascinating and intriguing... I happened upon the 2018 championship on my feed the other day, said okay I'll check it out... Watched Joseph vs Koryan and couldn't stop! (I think hyper tapping adds to the appeal for me for some reason... Just the fact that it is an option) Now I see two seemingly awesome people who are so into it (yes I know you're the 7-time champ) but to see you and your girlfriend so into it, and the real life support from such a partner... It only vindicates that there is something special about this community.

About a year or two after this video was uploaded, someone on Jonas's stream wanted to learn about #sleepgate. It was funny when they shared their shock at who caused it. That message was quickly deleted by the moderators as it was a spoiler.
If Quaid hadn't done the three mistaken placements pointed out on the video but gotten tetrises instead, he would have gotten something like 910k and most probably won the game - a concrete example of how building / skimming better wins you games.
Joseph got too aggressive in game 2 and got droughted; Harry...rarely do I see him 'panic', if that's even the right word. But he did in game 3 and loses. Too bad for Zzyzx that Koryan went into buzzsaw mode. 😂😂 But Zzyzx, you don't beat Koryan with triples, bruh!!!! 😝😝
Thanks for the in-depth explanation for why Harry's game ended so quickly. I guess you're always one misdrop away from a game over when playing at those speeds, even for the best players.
These videos are so great. Can't wait till the final commentary. Because of the ctwc i got.into tetris again and now i'm at ~470K with 5-6 months training(lv. 10 start, 450K on 18) (+6 on gameboy 400K there). I wonder how long it will take to get to these levels (not counting Joseph) Especially lv. 19 is super hard... when you start doing it you won't get a single line for some time 😂. It took me a month to do a Tetris. Now my best is 2-3 Tetris or up to 54 Lines.
You will probably get there soon! I've only started playing in the summer and I've hit kill screen 3 times, it just takes some figuring out to find the playstyle that suitou you

I felt like I was watching a footrace. Except Josh was this psycho parkour athlete running atop the rooftops and somehow keeping pace with the people on the street.
That's one of Alexes biggest problems, especially when he's in a solid lead, after level 20--22 he tends to almost always settle for triples doubles and at times even singles, allowing other players too often times catch up. I hope he's watching these because I do believe Alex Kerr can get even better for sure. Jonas has the greatest mind alive for Tetris though, he's like the Paul Gilbert of Tetris...which I guess would make Joseph salee what Buckethead? no even Buckethead while a freak one of the fastest and most technical and gifted guitarists alive, he makes plenty of errors not that it matters at his level, but Joseph makes so few errors and can recover from the very few he does make 95 percent of the time.
I've just gotten into watching competitive Tetris recently. I've tried to look for a youtube video explaining hyper-tapping but couldn't find one. You mentioned that to hyper-tap, the player has to tap the button 11 times a second to move the pieces faster than just holding the button down. Do these hyper-tappers get RSI (Repetitive strain injury) from tapping so much?
Avatar_hzh as someone who has recently started playing classic tetris and decided to hypertap because das sounded hard to master. I can safely say, it's not that bad. With having experience playing rythm games tapping this fast shouldn't strain anyone that much. With me playing for 30 minutes straight doing this constantly, It barely feels like anything. Some players who play osu! practice hard maps that require constant button mashing for hours and hours and none of them have ever reported having hand strains. At least I haven't heard this happen to anyone before. But what do I know, I play at level 12 and my highest score so far is 201,000 from a level 12 start. Do you plan on hypertapping too?

@@andrenowaczek4909 Everyone seems to have their own way of holding the controller for hyper tapping the two people I've seen who I've seen their controller gripping are Koryan and Joseph who both use a semi one hand method that are somewhat similar to each other but different, this is how I hold mine: ruclips.net/video/es23WCbiWUY/видео.html Since I have experience playing rhythm games, I found this position comfortable and easy, with my right hand positioned the same way I hold my tapping keys for osu! and a normal grip and using thumbs for rotation. There's another tetris player that I know who holds his controller similar to how I do. (although he plays modern vs tetris, not classic nes tetris and he doesn't do it to hypertap.) Wumbotize. It ultimately depends on what finger you can tap the fastest with, in my case it's my pointing and middle finger. Just try to find a grip that's comfortable for you, if your thumbs are already rock hard then consider just holding it the normal way. And as for how one might tap 11+ times a second; Tapping fast requires you to use your entire arm muscles not just the fingers. I'd explain myself but I'm terrible at explaining, just watch some of Joseph's and or Koryan's videos, that might help. And Google. The fighting game community and rhythm game community could help you out too maybe? Hypertapping isn't really necessary to do good at level 19 (I think), if Jonas can do it with just das, then surely you can do it too. The advantage is that you can place pieces even when your playfield is already pretty high which helps a lot but if you are already comfortable with das and kinda suck at button mashing (or suffer from disabilities) then I'd say learning the ability to button mash isn't worth it. If you're confident, go for it.
Koryan is not just an elite top 8 legendary Tetris player,but hes an insanely nice guy to,but Jonas your the best and great as well,as is your lovely wife,Joseph is just a prodigy hes gonna be so so so hard to beat,though if anyone can itl be Jonas,but this might be one of those levels things like Mayweather vs Marquez, both legends,both all time greats,both master boxers,and yet Mayweather shut him out won every second of every round and made it look easy,against a great who Pacquaio himself never truly decisively defeated in 4 attempts!,random boxing analogy,but Jonas will do alot better then that,I predict a rematch next tournament this year Jonas vs Joseph,im also hoping Alex makes the top 8 this year hes probably my favorite,followed by Jonas,then Koryan,then Joseph and etc.

Take a look at ebay, it's gonna cost a bit with shipping (from the US) but if it's worth it for you then go for it. Make sure anything you buy is marked as "tested" since returns are going to extremely difficult/impossible for you. You'll want to make sure you have the console, the cable and the controller because they sometimes get separated when sold. You also need to get a game cartridge and a CRT TV (you can get that locally). Do make sure both console and game cartridge are NTSC.

I get a bit of pain in the shoulder if i tap at full speed(just some seconds), but i'm not trained for hypertapping yet so this might be the reason.
