I feel so bad for the family!! Stay Strong! She is in a better place now where she isn't in pain and where she sin't sick anymore!! My parents spotted it quickly because my brother had it. T hey tested me with his stuff and saw I was high, luckily only 400. I got ready to go and I went to the hospital. Then I was diagnosed. I feel so sorry for their loss. Bless this family.
Thank you Kycie!! Sweet girl in heaven! My child was diagnosed at 15 months old. He came so close to losing his life! Type 1 diabetes is so misunderstood! We need to make people aware! I so appreciate Kycie and her parents
I'm sorry about your baby my daughter is six she just got diagnosed my daughter had all these symptoms and I saw them and noticed fast because I work in nursing I'm so great full I caught it in time God bless your family
We have several type 1 diabetics in my family in both children and adults. We also have numerous other autoimmune disorders. Type 1 can and does occur in adulthood…
I am so sorry for your loss. I wasn't diagnosed until I was in the ER at 44. I had a BG of over 500 and was in full ketoacidosis. I spent 4 days in hospital.
If you think that is bad think about a situation where over 5 people call you a liar.... I know I had the symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes. They may not have been the symptoms that doctors were expecting but I know I had those symptoms. Instead of the weight loss I constantly had symptoms of excessive hunger and excessive thirst and bed wetting. Nausea followed as well as vomiting over 5 times in a day and I was quiet very quiet and I was very emotional as well.
My niece got sick, and was diagnosed with type 1, her blood sugar levels were so high that she was in the beginning of organ failure. The doctors said that if they hadn't caught it, she would have slipped into a coma and possibly died. She was about 2 years old when diagnosed, and is now 9 years old, and still strggles with type 1. I feel bad for all the stuff that kids with type 1 have to go through.
It took over 5 years for me to be diagnosed with Type 1Diabetes and I just want to say I inherited so many genetic diseases and also Oxford HealthCare in Springfield Missouri where I grew up they commit crimes for a living and the doctor that we saw Dr. Hakan that we saw several times said himself that type 1 Diabetes doesn't exist and he doesn't believe in T1D. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 So now Cox South the hospital in Springfield Missouri is getting sued and Mercy is getting sued as well and every doctor is losing their jobs.
I was diagnosed with T1D about 3 years ago. This is so heart throbbing. I am going to share this video with absolutely EVERYONE I meet. I hope that the diabetes awareness becomes more apparent. People should NOT have to put out videos about children dying to misdiagnosed diabetes. :-(
I have type 1 diabetes. So many people get confused and some of my family still tells me to “not eat too much sugar.” I used to be a level 7 gymnast and won over 16 trophies and 55 plus medals. I even competed at worlds for cheerleading. People still mislabel me and one doctor even got confused between type 1 and type 2. It’s sad that people don’t know what this disease actually is.
Thanks for sharing this story I have epilepsy and I am diabetic and had a stroke when I was 6months old I live in Salt Lake City Utah I wish she was still alive I hope your family is doing better today
She was so beautiful and brave! I cried when I watched this! I fell so bad for the family! She should of lived a long and beatiful life! xoxoxo to her family! R.I.P Kycie. You will be missed!
The doctor diagnosed strep throat by looking at the brother’s throat?? This poor child. How amazing the these parents are for telling her story to save other lives.
@@TheRUclipsrClub19 Yes just my point.... the man at the beginning said one of the things I've noticed is a lot of people don't understand diabetes. Can you believe there are doctors that would say this? I've been a T1D since birth and I never received anything.
i was in the same state as this amazing child. i was days away from passing away and i am so thankful for me still being alive. if i could trade places with kycie i would ❤️ much love for your family
Yeah....she was a cutie. It's sad that children have to come down with this terrible disease. I'm an adult. I'm 25 years old and I've had it since I was 18. I have Type 2 and I wish there was a cure for us all. Kycie is no longer a diabetic and is safe in God's arms now. R.I.P Little One. See you in Heaven.
No offense but they literally say in the video that type 1 and 2 are not the same, as a type 1 I don’t like hearing a type 2 say “I have diabetes too” like no you have the other one
❤Such love to you and your family. We too, almost lost our grandson to T1D at 17mths old. Full blown DKA from a missed diagnosis. Thank you so much for sharing your story. This is truly an under diagnosed disease that needs to be brought to the forefront in Doctors offices to ER's.
This is a very touching story that opens my eyes more on type 1 diabetes. My dad also died of type 2 diabetes but this opens my eyes more to the disease and how serious it is. Thank you for posting this video and i am sending lots of hugs and kisses.
Also very similar to my story with my son when he was 5. I didn't trust what the doctor said, so i took my child to the ER, and it was there that he was diagnosed, but placed in ICU for DKA in another hospital. Hearing about Kycee is truly heart-breaking. May her soul rest in peace with Jesus.
I followed kycie’s story from the beginning and I was saddened by it but one little girl has saved sooooo many lives. Love you mostest infinity terry family.
My mum got type 1 diabetes when I was 10 a few years ago. She was a few minutes away from a diabetic coma. Your blood sugar should be about 5 and she was at 45! We are so lucky that our doctor knew what it was Thanks so much to the nhs
Thanks You To Her Family for Sharing. She Was Soooo Beautiful. You Can Feel The Trust and Faith This Family Has. Prayers for the Family R.I.H. SWEET ANGEL 🙏🙏🙏🙏
My dad’s brother died of type 1 when he was 4 years old. Insulin was just becoming available and the treatment prior to insulin was a bread and water diet! This was in the 1920’s. My sister was dx’ed at age 11 blood sugars were in the 600’s which could have been much worse but…due to having several people with type 1 in the family awareness of symptoms caught it early on.
Thank you for sharing your heartbreaking story this story watching this video saved my life realizing that my heath problems was undiagnosed type 1 not knowing symptoms i had kidney failure multiple times and either hospitals wrote it off as dehydration few years later i had a😅😅 heart attack during dka and was finally was diagnosed at 35 after symptoms starting at 9 years old my parents forgot my grandmother had childhood type one so wasn't in my medical history god bless you guys and your beautiful daughter taken to soon but her story saved my life and many others including my daughter who got diagnosed soon after me shes a guardian angle for many ❤

It took a long time to diagnose my son. The symptoms he had were off and on and very mild for a long time, roughly a year. Looking back we now have a better understanding and feel very lucky.
both me and my sister have type 1 diabetes but she was in a diabetic coma for few days and was dying my sister is in ICU for 4 days and my mom didn't know if she was going to make it cuz there's they thought there was going to be organ failure but then when I got it I was not in a diabetic coma it was fine to go home the next day my sister's numbers though we're close to the thousands and mine were close - 700 and I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter losing her type 1 diabetes 💖💖💖💖💖💖💙💙💙

Soo sorry for your loss my god I can't imagine your pain and loss, I had everything but the seizure s , I was misdiagnosed 7 times! , the er Dr looked at me and ignored my symptoms and didn't help me thank god I'm stubborn and didn't listen to to him and went to work instead of home I could have died if I didn't go to work, I worked in a restaurant and was a dishwasher and was found sitting and unconscious and Diapharetic when they found me I was 300 the first day which is 8 years today and the next day I had a colonoscopy schedule d and they did blood work before the procedure and on 8/7 09 I was in DKA by then and again Diagnosed officially by my Gastrointerologist Diagnosed me With type 2 Diabetes and in DKA! With early stages of DkA of bs numbers of 400!
So Very sorry for your loss of your precious daughter. You are doing a good thing for sure. Thank you for fighting for children with diabetes you are such good activists for all children with diabetes. Please keep up the good job and let us all pray for a cure until there is one ----- then we all must get the word out to everyone. May God Bless your family always and help you keep up your fight for the children always!!! AMEN
I'm really sorry for your loss. My son was thanjfully not in DKA when diagnosed, when I told hus pediatrician his symptoms over the phone diabetes was his first suspicion, so he sent us to the hospital right away and told us to demand his BG be measured. It was 777. Was the pneumothorax caused by the diabetes?
I am so sorry for your loss and very angered as well. My son at the age of three developed Type 1 Diabetes. In today’s world there is no excuse for any doctor to misdiagnosed Type 1 Diabetes. It is literally a finger poke to diagnose. Why this happened is inconceivable and tremendous incompetence. I pray you find peace.
When I was told on January 14th of 1997 that I had type 1 diabetes when I was 14 that if I had waited 6 More days if that I would have been in the same spot she was in I'm now 35 I've have DKA twice which is not bad for a T1D of 20+ years this has hit home so much

This happened to my youngest daughter when she was 15, she was already in DKA and seen a doctor during this time, they failed to check her sugar! 3 weeks later she ends up in icu now she’s 19 and type 1 diabetic, I thank God everyday that my baby is ok, but this could of been so different, My heart breaks for the parents that have lost children due to undiagnosed diabetes
THANKS YOU there needs to be more adds on tv about type 1 diabetes becouse ever time I took someone I'm a diabetic they look at me like you but your not fat
Nice video, I bought Ambrosia Nightrider cgm to monitor glucose which works great with the Libre sensor, their alarm feature is very helpful during night, it also gives alarm alerts when readings are not in range.
I thought all nurses were taught to do the treatment for diabetes. The needles. Even if they were not specializing I thought they would remember that basic.
Nurses are totally ignorant, a lot of times doctors of other specialties too. I had a nurse try to give me insulin during a low. I had a DIABETES nurse confuse type 1 with type 2 and tell me ''oh you are in your 20s, it must be type 2 and probably a misdiagnosis''. I had a pathologist in the ER where i went with a BG of 1000+ tell me to stop eating candy and that i probably did it to myself. I hadnt eaten anything, i was feeling sick for days. Its disgusting and terrifying
@@EffyKai my mom was diagnosed type 1 diabetic in her late 20s then in her 50s doctors in a different state of course misdiagnosed her as type 2 gave her a medication for type 2 which caused her tp go into diabetic ketoacidosis resulting in 3 strokes.
@@EffyKai It frustrates me how ignorant people can be. Especially when they work in the medical field. You'd think that they would know better. My husband has type 1 diabetes and about 7-8 months after we got married he went into DKA, thought it was the heat as it was the end of July and he walks and takes the bus everywhere. He had a pump but not a CGM, a little over a month latter he was back in the hospital for DKA again, turns out his pump, which was well over 10 years old, wasn't working as well as it should. He's then went into DKA 5 more times within a year and 3 months. In his last hospital visit the doctor basically accused him of purposefully not taking care of his diabetes. We had no idea what had caused this last visit, he was fine one day and then the next he wasn't. Within a few days of getting out of the hospital he went on a CGM and thankfully it has been 11 months since his last hospital visit. Now he just needs to get back on a pump.
@@Hezelcarl1 I don't know why people tend to forget that children diagnosed with type 1 grow up, and still have type 1... Besides the fact that you can be diagnosed with type 1 later in life as well as childhood. My mother in law was around 36 when she was diagnosed.
Simple finger prick test could save so many children. My doctor heard the symptoms and bam finger prick right away, off to A&E and training me for three days solid, couldn't have been more happy with how professional and quickly they all acted and because l live in Ireland it's universal care so no cost. I'm now confident at administrating insulin for my son. I can't imagine the pain of losing children to this, it's treatable. Doctors need to be more vigilant.
As type one diabetics if anyone or you think somebody is presenting with diabetic symptoms get out a new lancet and test them you will probably be wrong but if it saves one life like kycees it’s got to be worth it
Sucks that your blood sugar went to 360, but your dad was definitely a butt saver for you, that it didn't go even higher or you get so sick because of going into DKA
@@sabrinazakrowski1399 ahhaa yeah! I can’t believe I wrote this nearly 4 years ago! I was very lucky and I think it’s so important to spread awareness of the symptoms because otherwise things like this can happen :( I was only in hospital for 2 nights and during times like this with hospitals under pressure we need to see more representation of t1d in the media, rather than just type 2 and obesity

Been diagnosed for three years as an diabetic type 2....not overweight and all the signals of type 1..rapid weight loss, super high blood sugars 32 mmol/l and a hba1c of 104 mmol/l I asked the doctor to check my insuline levels and antibodies, but no she said we ain't going to do that your a type 2. I went straight away on an ketogenic diet and could stretch my health for more than three years....now for a week of two I'm diagnosed for type 1 after I had crashed the second of February this year...lost 12 kilogram in 1 á 2 weeks and been struggling until the end of April...the hospital doctor told me that if I were 1 á 2 weeks later they had to get me to the ER and if I was any later I didn't survive! Now I finally got insuline because my pancreas doesn't make any insuline anymore! I say....thanks f uck ers....thanks for destroying me overall! The insuline is working and I'm getting my weight, body mass, muscle and strength back...I'm progressing well in my exercises and halfway of what I did before the crash.
My cousin was misdiagnosed. He was originally diagnosed as type two, because he was a bigger guy. Then over time he started to get sick. He goes to the emergency room and finds out that he was type one all along. His original endocrinologist was mistreating him and that’s why he got so sick. He wasn’t getting enough insulin. He went to the endocrinologist to get his files because he was never going back there again. He basically told the doctor off saying that he could’ve died because he wasn’t getting enough insulin. His new doctor has been treating him correctly for the last six months now and he’s doing better than ever.
I am so upset and angry for these poor parents they did everything right and the Dr failed her. This little girl will not be forgotten and remembered for her smile.
Who dislikes a video like this? I myself have type 1 and it makes me so upset that a person can be so cruel to say that they hate a story like this. A sweet innocent girl got a terrible torturing disease that can't be stopped and you wanna say that them sharing their story is awful? shame on you.
Many people feel that because there's been the means to measure blood sugar for quite some time now, there's little to no good reason why the little girl's type 1 diabetes was missed until she got so sick she died from it. People who feel that the little girl basically died from incompetence and it made people angry. She was already in DKA when she and her brother were taken to be seen same day. The boy was examined first, diagnosed with strep throat, and the doctor just assumed it was the same for his sister. If he had taken the time to treat her as an individual, she may have been treated for the DKA and her type 1 diabetes diagnosed sooner, and she may still be alive today.

I surely hope one of the symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes your son did not have was weight loss. I never went through weight loss, but I did go through nausea and vomiting 🤮. Trust me you do not want to know what it’s like going through nausea and vomiting 🤮 from Type 1 Diabetes for 28 years.
Symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes I went through
1) Excessive hunger
2) Excessive thirst
3) Frequent urination
4) Nausea
5) Vomiting 🤮
6) Feeling very tired 🥱
Even thought I have never met Kycie, she is one of the cutest girls that I have ever seen! I was crying so much during this video, I still am! R.I.P Kycie! I love you so much! I feel so bad for the family!! Stay Strong! She is in a better place now where she isn't in pain and where she sin't sick anymore!! I know that her family missed her, I do too even though I have never met her!
awee 😭Kycie was so strong ❣️she is so brave for fighting 💕

Kayci is a great legacy and a huge testimony to be the voice
I am soo sorry. Thank you for sharing your story.
Vivian F that was just to sweet of you to say that I love that

I was diagnosed type 1 at the age of 51. Dr was shocked that someone my age could be diagnosed type 1. Am 57 now and almost a 2nd degree black belt.
We have several type 1 diabetics in my family in both children and adults. We also have numerous other autoimmune disorders. Type 1 can and does occur in adulthood…
I'm so sorry to hear about this. You are a strong family! She was so beautiful. Now she is your beautiful guardian angel. Bless you all
that is so sad I am crying right now
I am so sorry for your loss. I wasn't diagnosed until I was in the ER at 44. I had a BG of over 500 and was in full ketoacidosis. I spent 4 days in hospital.
Omg this is so sad everytime I see Kycie I cant hold back my tears😓
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
So now Cox South the hospital in Springfield Missouri is getting sued and Mercy is getting sued as well and every doctor is losing their jobs.
It made me cry so bad I couldn't stop when I seen this video R.I.P Kycie I'm sorry for your lost of kycie 😭😭😭😭😭

The doctor diagnosed strep throat by looking at the brother’s throat?? This poor child. How amazing the these parents are for telling her story to save other lives.
Ah, she sure was a beautiful beam of light.
I feel so bad for this family
Me to it just makes me cry that kycie died at 5 years old that she didn't get to live her life to have her own kids if she wanted to
Amazingly Me I do too

Yes just my point.... the man at the beginning said one of the things I've noticed is a lot of people don't understand diabetes. Can you believe there are doctors that would say this? I've been a T1D since birth and I never received anything.

i was in the same state as this amazing child. i was days away from passing away and i am so thankful for me still being alive. if i could trade places with kycie i would ❤️ much love for your family
Tears have been shed watching this. Thank you for sharing.
She was such a nice beautiful kind cute little girl i feel so bad for Ur family I actually started crying
We are so lucky that our doctor knew what it was
Thanks so much to the nhs

She is so adorable and God kept her hear for as long as he could to teach you some new and to help put out awareness

This makes me so incredibly sad. What a beautiful, perfect little girl Kycie was. I could cry my eyes out.
Make a simple blood sugar check by finger stick at your physician's office a standard procedure.

It took a long time to diagnose my son. The symptoms he had were off and on and very mild for a long time, roughly a year. Looking back we now have a better understanding and feel very lucky.
Signs of type one diabetes
-extreme thirst
-a lot of trips to the bathroom
-weight loss
-weak/fatigue
I'm so sorry for you 😪 I have T1D. I'm sorry that you lost her to diabetes I know it's hard 😪😪

I almost was in a diabetic coma as well. I'm honestly thankful to be alive, my blood sugar was 836 when I came into the hospital.
I am very sorry and yeah I agree all nurses should be taught to care for children and adults with type 1 diabetes. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I have a good friend with type 1 diabetes and we went to middle school and high school together and the nurse knew how to take care of her.

I can't imagine, my heart breaks for you guys so much!
.. my little girl in hospital now for this..
She had been taken to the doctors 3 times in the one week. I KNEW SOMETHING WASNT RIGHT! They treated me like an over worried parent! Now she is in hospital on a drip
When I was told on January 14th of 1997 that I had type 1 diabetes when I was 14 that if I had waited 6 More days if that I would have been in the same spot she was in I'm now 35 I've have DKA twice which is not bad for a T1D of 20+ years this has hit home so much
THATS SOOOOO HEARTBREAKING, HER PARENTS MUST HAVE BEEN DEVISTATING, KAYCIE MUST HAVE MENT SOOOOO MUCH TO HER PARENTS, REMEBER THAT GOD IS ALWAYS WITH KAYCI AND HER FAMILY, HOPE HER FAMILY LIVES A HEALTHY, HAPPY, SAFE, STRONG, LONG AND BEUTIFUL LIVES, WISH EVEEYONW GOING THOUGH A TOUGH TIME IN LIFE THE BEST IN LIFE, STAY STRONG, PRAYER💪😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏!!!!!

Most type 2 are not overweight.
you were given an angel.. god bless

Heartbreaking story and really scary to go thru:(
Nice video, I bought Ambrosia Nightrider cgm to monitor glucose which works great with the Libre sensor, their alarm feature is very helpful during night, it also gives alarm alerts when readings are not in range.
I thought all nurses were taught to do the treatment for diabetes. The needles. Even if they were not specializing I thought they would remember that basic.
Yes but they do it once in clinicals they may never see it again and if they are focused they may not have dealt with the combo
My mother in law was around 36 when she was diagnosed.
kycie is over we appreciate all the help from the house

It's KYCIE
I am so sorry for you lost your such as a good daughter. How can I support you guys and how can donate for you?
Simple finger prick test could save so many children. My doctor heard the symptoms and bam finger prick right away, off to A&E and training me for three days solid, couldn't have been more happy with how professional and quickly they all acted and because l live in Ireland it's universal care so no cost. I'm now confident at administrating insulin for my son. I can't imagine the pain of losing children to this, it's treatable. Doctors need to be more vigilant.
As type one diabetics if anyone or you think somebody is presenting with diabetic symptoms get out a new lancet and test them you will probably be wrong but if it saves one life like kycees it’s got to be worth it
My dad spotted it early bc he has it. Luckily I was only at 20mmol, so I hadn't got ketoacidosis
Sophie Bassil When I got diagnosed
My blood sugars were 925
Yeah...
My bloods were 27.4 mmol/L and Ketones were 5.4 :/ So yeah rushed into A&E for DKA
Mine was around 750 when I got diagnosed
Sucks that your blood sugar went to 360, but your dad was definitely a butt saver for you, that it didn't go even higher or you get so sick because of going into DKA
@@sabrinazakrowski1399 ahhaa yeah! I can’t believe I wrote this nearly 4 years ago! I was very lucky and I think it’s so important to spread awareness of the symptoms because otherwise things like this can happen :( I was only in hospital for 2 nights and during times like this with hospitals under pressure we need to see more representation of t1d in the media, rather than just type 2 and obesity
I have some one in my family how was told she had tip 2 but really had tip 1 after meny time of o most dieing
I was sick for the entire summer but it wasn't anything close to that. I had 2 surgeries this summer. I have so wing rare that I don't know how to spell. I feel so bad for this family. Poor Kycie
Been diagnosed for three years as an diabetic type 2....not overweight and all the signals of type 1..rapid weight loss, super high blood sugars 32 mmol/l and a hba1c of 104 mmol/l
I asked the doctor to check my insuline levels and antibodies, but no she said we ain't going to do that your a type 2.
I was misdiagnosed 2 times with a UTI im pretty sure
I can't stop crying. I have had DKA -3 times. And it was horrible. The worst Feeling .
I was misdiagnosed twice,i was above 33.3mmol,i had ketoacidosis i was terribly ill,i was 5
I'm pretty sure my son had ketoacidosis the other day. Had blood work today. Fingers crossed. This covid is really messing up healthcare.
Will you post Agen
I am so upset and angry for these poor parents they did everything right and the Dr failed her. This little girl will not be forgotten and remembered for her smile.
Interesting how my friend's 1 year old kid just got diagnosed with trype1 after antibiotics for an ear infection.
Your daughter is beautiful with blue eyes and I wish she would never got sick
Yes thank you rip baby girl 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇
