Royal Guard Collapses By The Queen's Coffin | Insider News
I cannot imagine that the man has not been injured, such a horrific fall on his face...I do hope that he is ok or at least his injuries are not too serious.
He didn't face plant, his ok just exhausted
he's ok, theres another video shows him getting up and carrying on with his duty.
@@gavinshelton5712 where
I can imagine. I dont have brain damage
The fall is nothing compared to the harm of the experimental injection that caused it
It’s worth mentioning, for the avoidance of any misconceptions here, that the man who fell is not a soldier. He is a member of the Scottish ceremonial guard, the Royal Company of Archers. They are all volunteers and mostly of retirement age, spending the rest of their duties representing their organisation in competition longbow. None of them were forced into it, they volunteered for this duty.
Unfortunately for this poor chap, he was probably under the weather and, combined with his age, found it really difficult to stay there for his 20 minute slot. I do hope he’s alright.
Edit: For what it's worth, there was an interview of one of the Yeoman Warders (Beefeaters) who was there, an RAF veteran named Tam Reilly, and he said the archer recovered shortly afterwards.
At last! Someone bothering to base a comment on facts.
I did wonder if he was an older guy alright. He did seem to have grey hair.
Poor guy! I wonder if they had a briefing or something to remind them not to lock their knees.
Thank you for commenting with actual facts and logic. Being an older man, this fall is going to be a lot harder on him than it would be on a young person. And to the silly people who said he didn't hit his head, if you slow down the playback speed, you can see that although he managed to get his hands in front of him, which surely helped slow him down, he still smacks his forehead so hard and fast that it bounces off of the stone floor. He'll be lucky if he doesn't have a concussion.
Poor guy, it makes it even worse to find out that he was an elderly gentleman. I do hope that he’s okay. That was a really nasty fall.
As someone who spent 10 years active duty Army and has spent countless hours in various types of ceremonies, I can tell you this happens all the time. Sometimes from dehydration, overheating, illness or locking your legs out. I've seen it many times. Standing at attention for a long period of time is very difficult. I remember when I was stationed in Hawaii, we had a change of command ceremony that lasted over 3 hours. We had to stand information that while time in a field with no shade and it was 89 degrees out that day. Absolutely awful.

The on-screen text here is terribly misleading. The guards stand at their posts for only 20 minutes at a time. Then they are relieved by other members of their unit. Their duty shift may be 6 hours, but they stand still only in 20 minute increments. Still, 20 minutes is plenty long enough to lock your knees and pass out. I hope the soldier is OK. Looks like he was just about to be relieved.
Thanks for the info!
I just watched the video twice. Where does it look like he was JUST about to be relieved? 😒😂
@@getdownonit8753 the other people walking towards him?
Thank you for saying this! I was watching the live coverage and noticed that the changing of the guards happened very frequently. I thought it was about 1/2 hour, but i guess it's 20 minutes. There is NO WAY they would make these men stand there for six hours!!!
Standing for 20 minutes is childs play I used to work in a factory and would stand for 8-10 hours a day
And the person next to him wasn't ment to move nor react because of duty. I hate this rule.
that just shows that how uptight their rules are.Even you dead on spot
What a dumb feelingless rule
I think the person next to him was trying to discreetly pull him back.

Besides the standing attention. It's everything surrounding the ceremony. The honor, the duty, the emotions. There's no comparison I mean I'm not there and I feel sadness of the pasting of the Queen. I remember I was a little boy when my parents took me to see the Queen visiting Hong Kong in 1975. Everyone was so excited to catch a glimpse of her. My dad bought a commemorative plate of their visit. I think we still have it.
That sound made my heart jump. Poor guy, I do hope he's ok 💕

I was in ROTC back in high school. I locked my knees while standing at attention. After about 2 hour’s in a drill I passed out and hit the floor.
I can’t imagine what these wonderful guardsmen are going through. Sending so much love and prayers to him and all.
What happens to your body if you lock your knees? When you stand in attention for long periods of time, do you have to keep your knees a bit bent?
@@mattheoswho1010 yeah you do, but you have to bend slightly so it’s not noticeable. I was in ROTC too and that what they told us to do. Basically when you lock your knees your basically turning off the muscles around your knees and reducing blood flow there. hence why you fall out
as a former marching band student i can say that this is very true. started blacking out when i locked my knees standing at attention and didn’t notice that i was doing it. my teacher noticed i wasn’t feeling good and luckily i was able to sit down in time before i completely passed out.
I was in the Canada version of ROTC. Even though we didn't drill for that long and a couple kids would faint once in a while, our legs would get tired/stiff for either standing too long or continously doing drill (band drill, regular drill or not) and the officer would tell us to bend our legs once in a while.
They all look like they are suffering from the heat. The guy was probably dehydrated and too overheated.
The guard standing next to him had to see him start to wobble before falling down. I think it's a dumb rule that they have to stay still around someone who is already dead when someone who is alive needs help. Maybe he could have reached to break his fall.
sadly I think its rule if the guy would have caught him he could have gotten fired because then thats one part of the queen not guarded. and since she's royalty there's many creeps and horrible people out there
It’s so people don’t vandalise the coffin or smth but it’s still stupid to have such king shifts

I think a 3 hour period is more than sufficient especially for more senior members. I know he would have done it out of respect for the Queen and duty so for that I admire him.
But they rotate every 20 minutes. So they can rest 15 minutes and be 25 minutes on their feets 20 of them standing still.

Chris Benoit would have been proud of that flying headbutt
I did this exact thing when I was in the military during a "change of command" ceremony. I was only standing for 15 -20 minutes and had my knee's locked which they always tell us not to do. I didn't really notice until all of sudden I could see my vision closing in from the side and turning into tunnel vision. I fell strait flat just like he did, hitting my front two teeth and shattering them completely. Several people came over to help me and I was taken to the hospital for a checkup and then booked for a dentist to fix the cosmetic damage. The US military is good about covering the cost of these things and paid for my implants which look better than my original teeth. The most shocking part was looking in the mirror at my teeth after the fall and seeing them gone.
It must be difficult standing stock still and hoping you don't get an itch or a cough. Thank you for being in the military 🕯️
