I don't really get why people think that Atsumu is just a layed back, rude, narcissistic attention whore that only cared about himself. I know that the show (kinda) portrayed him like that but there had to be a deeper meaning and connection as why he is acting so much like that. The team should know that Atsumu is quite literally sensitive. That's why he does the hands, he is sensitive to loud sounds and it can make him lose his concentration. This maybe due to his past trauma or something similar to that- maybe about his family or him being bullied at a young age (these are just hypothesises and maybes, there are no true/correct answer unless answered by the creator itself). And by that, at such a young age he is messed up by the world and society. He is constantly judged and criticized by everyone around him which resulted into him being distant (due to building up a wall to protect himself from being hurt by anyone), insecure (this is solely because of all the empty accusing, open criticism, and judging nature of people. And it left him trying his best to be the image everyone puts him to be; a very talented volleyball player whose drawbacks are being narcissistic, selfish, rude and all those other mean things that are commonly known to Atsumu's trait/act) and/or cold. He was excluded, left out, picked on, teased, hated, bullied, and so much more by the people around him. Reminder, this started as young as the first year of middle school and still went on till high school (I think). Heck, even the fandom picked on him. The only people that didn't really leave him out and bullied him were Aran, Osamu, their parents (maybe), and the Inarizaki VB team (for all I know). The thing I'm trying to say is that maybe we should stop judging so much or voicing out our criticism and take a deeper look into that person. Because we never know what they are going through or have gone through to be allowed to judge them.
Atsumu is one of my favorite characters! I realize I said he's not kind, but personally I don't think there's anything wrong with that, most of my friends aren't kind, but that doesn't mean that they aren't good people :)

Don’t forget when Aran said if he had to choose between which twin had better skill, it would be Osamu. That’s probably why Atsumu was so upset when their coach in junior high told Osamu to try being a setter.
@@cmarshall3946 Yeah, I got so sad about that. It's just unfair that Atsumu has/had to deal with such favoritism between him and his twin his whole life. But I think that never erased the fact that the twins loved each other, weather they said it or not. And Osamu probably never tried to be a setter because he knew that Atsumu was better and more fitting to be one.
