It's a damn dirty shame that the Beatles couldn't have stayed together longer, because Mr. Preston would have made a fantastic permanent addition to them. Bless his name.

When you watch what they were doing before, it really does feel a lot less emotional in a way. My father had told me for years Billy Preston was an honorary Beatle but until the docu series came out I had no idea. Biggest role is hard to say, undeniably a phenomenal piano player, and maybe the best organ player in recent history. Changed the entire vibe of the album, only for the better, it would be so strange without him.

Incredibly beautiful playing by Billy Preston. No other musician ever fit in so perfectly with the Beatles than he did. I feel lucky that I once saw him playing live with his band years ago. He is one of my ultimate keyboard idols.

This is very eye-opening. I never realized how many whole notes there were in this part. As musicians were often tempted to just play constantly all the time throughout the song. Nice to know playing this reserved still works.

Most artist's music would suffer when broken down into its component parts (isolated vocals, isolated bass, etc). But the Beatles come off as even greater geniuses than we first thought. Even the people who guest on their recordings (this one with Billy Preston on Rhodes, Eric Clapton;s guitar solo on While My Guitar Gently Weeps, George Martin's baroque piano on In My Life, etc) seem to rise to a whole other level in their creativity. It's like it rubs off on them

I can't think of a single Beatles song with a Wurli. They used a lot of Hohner in the early years and then went on to Rhodes but they still used the pianet in some songs (Getting Better, Let It Be (album version)). The pianet has a similar sound to Wurli but it has that characteristic click when a key is depressed.
