I know that I'm a little late on this video, lo. But speaking of Walmart no longer price matching, they now have a system that is so great!! You download their app, then after shopping at Walmart, scan or type in some numbers off of your receipt. If they find what you bought cheaper, they will now put it on an e gift card! In the last 3 years we have had over 800 YES 800 dollars on our e gift card. We leave the money on it until Christmas and use it to buy ALOT of our Christmas items!! Fantastic way to get the " price match"! Try it, it really is great!! And No, lol I do not work at Walmart!!! Lol

    • @samiamisme

@@johnnyswag2802 I didn't think so, so I looked it up, and while it doesnt talk about freezing from fresh, this taste of home article says "Technically, hard-cooked eggs can be frozen, but they won't taste great. The whites become tough and rubbery, and they release excess water when they're thawed. The cooked yolks freezeexceptionally well, though, so we recommend eating the boiledwhites fresh and freezing the yolks by themselves in an air-tight bag." Good luck!

If you put a little milk in the cream cheese after it is frozen and defrosted then run a mixer through it and it is a nice texture again.

Love that you dice things up and 'hide' them in sauces. For years, my mom used to puree her tomato sauce to hide all the veggies so I didn't know I was eating them. Also, every meat was chicken regardless of what it was so I couldn't say I didn't like it without trying it. lol.

I have to hide things because my husband is like a child. He only likes corn and peas. If I make carrots I have to give them to him raw or doctor them up with either some brown sugar or pure maple syrup. I think I'll start hiding things like spinach, etc. when I make sauce or other meals. Thanks for reminding me to do this. 😀

I'm Canadian and we go over to the states just to buy $200 worth of boneless skinless chicken! (Fill up the freezer) Our sale price is around $4.99 lbs 😲😲😲so at $1.99 plus exchange its such a great deal!!

    • @Tzara86
      @Tzara86 6 лет назад +2

Kathy D'Accriscio everything is more expensive in Canada, and they take 52% or more of our income in taxes. It's ludacris. Unfortunately, the time and gas you spend travelling to the states with exchange, you'd likely break even. I find that with everything I try to buy online. A lot of things I refuse to buy because there isn't a cheaper Canadian option. One example are those subscription boxes. They are mostly American. So a $35 box for Americans, add $15 shipping and exchange rate, works out to be $80. Like no.

This is a great haul. I've been buying in bulk lately and it's saved me money, although I try to eat more plant-based. I don't stock up too much on perishable foods, though. I worry about losing those in a power outage... even going without power for a day or two could really affect everything. I do stock up on the shelf stable stuff at good prices. (Family of 6 here.)

The Walmart in my area doesn't price match store brand items with the exception of milk and eggs. I think they got sick of me and others coming in with Aldi and Kroger ads. Now, instead of price matching, we go the extra 25 minutes to get cheaper groceries.

we have laying hens when we want pancakes or just an omelette our kiddos we have three and one on the way can go gather eggs and we can have fresh when we want!. we eat/use a lot of eggs. we also deer hunt every year and process our own meat and that gives us quite a bit of meat every year this year we also raised a pig and just took it to butcher we will give meat away to our families and have tons leftover. also in the spring we grow some veggies our tomatoes come back every year and we don't touch them they just grow like crazy all around our house. cucumbers, peppers - jalapeño and bell peppers, watermelon, okra and few herbs like basil are things we like and eat all the time and they are easy for me to grow I do not have a green thumb lol. you can also pickle anything okra, cucumbers and jar things that will help them last longer!. just some frugal tips! love your channel!

I love watching you. You have a lot of joyful energy. Thank you. Also, I only have six children at home, and have three freezers, plus the freezer on my refrigerator, and they are stuffed! I mean, to do what you do, I'd have to get another freezer! :D I have one freezer for bread, one for meat, the other freezer has leftovers, fruit, and all that, plus sometimes bread. I find myself cleaning out the freezers all the time, and thinking, "why did I even think of keeping this?". lol. And, I make the mistake a lot of not labeling, yikes, that's horrible, you are right, I do forget what it is. Any how, I love your refrigerator, the one in your kitchen, what kind is it, what brand, and do you like the lay out, the pro's and con's of it, would be helpful. I'm on the look out for a bigger refrigerator, I'm thinking like yours, that will last, as they are spendy. Thanks!

If you rinse your berries in water with a little vinegar in them and dry them off, they keep fresh much longer in your fridge. I love watching your grocery haul and comparing prices. I shop in Asda which is owned by Walmart. Sorry, I live in Scotland UK. just an example for chicken fillets I pay a minimum of $2.54 per lb. Thank you!!

I really enjoy your videos. I did have a question about sustainability. I'm trying to purchase more sustainable products (less plastics) and fresher products (less processing). Would love to see a video about local shopping (farmer's markets) with less packaging and/or organic meats or veggie options. Thanks.

Just a tip, you should use unsalted butter for baking- a tip straight from a chef friend of mine. We even use it in cooking since we are watching our salt intake. Boxed mac and cheese is still great and way less salty with unsalted butter.

The white 'netting' you mentioned is not from bee stings, but from damage from the pollinators make on the flowers. It's the pollination that makes it sweeter.

Hi Jordan! When you cook the ground beef and freeze it, what do you freeze it in? A plastic container or a freezer bag? Then when you're ready to eat do you leave in fridge to defrost overnight or throw it back in pan and warm it up that way?

Cristina Covington I freeze mine in freezer zip lock bags. I just defrost a little bit in the micowave then thrown in pan .

Hey Jordan, so I know this is an older video and I’m wondering what you do now that Walmart doesn’t price match (or do savings catcher, which never really worked for me anyway)? How do you get the best price for your groceries without running all over?

I'm always scared about freezing things. I'm just not sure how to figure out how long it is good for after you unfreeze it. Do you happen to know?

I see someone else already said part of what I was going to say. Walmart replaced price matching with a system called "Savings Catcher". One point they made was it reduced time standing in line waiting for people to go through sales papers. You can do it on a desktop on the walmart website, or the phone app, much quicker. And, you don't have to type in the numbers. You can just scan the QR code, from the walmart app. It takes a few days to process then they will send an email to whatever email address you used to sign up for the app, letting you know if you have any money coming back to you! It does the stores within 25 miles of you. I just checked my app and it's showing I've gotten refunds of over 590. some odd dollars since I started doing it. We're just two people so families may save more. You should try it.
