Tool and die have many different roles you have people doing the cad design of the tools then you have people machine the parts for the tools using the cad design, you have people doing asembly/fitting and try out of the tools etc. It depends on who you ask what a tool and die maker is. We have people at work doing assembly/fitting/maintinence like 90% of the time but they also do some basic work on manual machines. I am the opposite i program and run a cnc mill most of the time but also does some handwork when needed. A machinist is someone that can make parts from a drawing mostly using a Mill or lathe. you also have what they call a cnc-operator, they load parts and run production jobs with a ready program.
i have completed my 4 year diploma in tool and die making from IDTR INDO DANISH TOOL ROOM).now i want to make my career in injection mould design, can you please suggest me any course or apprenticeship or any other program to learn and make my career in design.I have very much knowledge in tool designing i have already designed moulds now i want to enhance my knowledge and skills.

That's what I'm talking about. Get an apprenticeship and a Tool & Die Shop and they will pay for any of your schooling. Just search on google for Tool & Die Shops around your area.

I started at the largest manufacturer of plastic cups and lids. I worked my way up tool finishing, then doing shipping and receiving for the shop, then assembly, then grinding. Then mills. Our engineers work here with the machinists. One guy programs

This is laughable . I’ve worked in the trade for 25 years . It’s a job not a career these days . WAges are same as they were twenty years ago. Plenty of layoffs plenty of exploitation by the employers
