- A quick note, we did this trip in August 2020. So that will explain the masks.
Kayaking Russian River is one of our favorite things to do in Northern California. In this vlog we share how to go kayaking on the river, where you can rent the kayak and equipment, and views of the beautiful drives surrounding Guerneville, Cazadero, and the Russian River area.

Where did you guys end up getting picked up at? And how long did the paddle take? Is there any places to make the kayaking a little longer?
We ended at Monte Rio and they picked us up there. It’s the most common route. It took us about 3 hours of leisurely paddling and a few stops along the way. I think they offer longer routes as far out as Jenner. If not them, other companies might.
Adding a map where kayakers could pull up to access public lavatories a rather than addind to the contamination of this impaired river (see EPA list of Impaired Rivers) would go a ling way in protecting this valuable rescource
Great idea! Feel free to share if you know of any.
I love kayaking it’s so fun 🛶
Probably one of my favorite outdoor activities
Looks lovely!
it's one of our favorite things to do in California! very chill
Great video! What area is the spot called at 2:40?
Thank you! We started in Guerneville and ended in Monte Rio. This spot is about midway in between the two. On google maps it's showing up as Summer Bridge. Check it out here: maps.app.goo.gl/K8f6qmwQ9dVyu6g5A
I really want to paddle from Jenner to steelhead beach or somewhere near that area
That would be a great adventure! I've only gone west from Guerneville, so I'm not sure what the river is like to the east. Probably spring, early summer would be best. When we've gone late summer into autumn, the river can be a little low and you have to portage a bit. Let me know if you do it this year!
Masks are just the worst.. other than that its very lovely.. im doing the 10 mile trip to.orrow. looking forward to it.. how many people were in your "group" for lack of a better term?
Exciting! I’ve never done the longer one. Sounds fantastic. It was just the two of us. The rental place just brought the kayaks to the starting point and then came and got us at the pick up point. We didn’t see too many along the way.
Love this video ! Looks so fun!! But the masks are really cringe in 2023.
Much love im gonna try going there !
Thanks for the comment! I totally get it. We were going through older videos we started editing, and just went with it as is. I mentioned in the info, this was from 2020 to be clear on the masks lol. What a difference three years makes!
Agreed
Masks? So sorry
