I have been binge watching Siskel and Ebert lately. More entertaining than most things on Netflix. It also shows the Pandemic has been going on way too long. Ha.
These guys truly had the perfect job. I wish I could see movies and then write about them and then make a million dollars a year doing a tv show talking about that weeks movies.
Miss these guys. I used to buy Roger Ebert's full length movie review book every year in the days before the internet. He was truly a great writer. Sad to see these guys meet early ends the way they did.
Bodyguard was a true signature of an suspense/romantic thriller should look like. Been 30 years since it released for Warner Bros. Glad these guys S&E positive review got their attention.
Roger was expert in using the passive form in describing Jaye Davidson's character in order to avoid risking a revealing pronoun. You could tell Gene was trying to rush him to finish at the end there, probably afraid that Roger would screw up and spoil it. It's little things like this that makes their show so fun to watch.
I loved the Bodyguard. I was a little too young when I saw it but it stuck with me
Can’t believe it’s been nearly 3 decades since The Bodyguard came out. Remember my Sister had just broken up with her boyfriend when the soundtrack came out and, with the aid of the repeat button on a newly purchased Sony CD player, she played that damn song over and over.
@Avery Coleman I figured her password would be AIDS
Yes my sister played the song as well when she broke up with her boyfriend!lol
The Bodyguard is one of my favorite movies! 😁 I also like The Crying Game.
YEAH, I WILL ALWAYS LOVE "THE BODYGUARD" WITH KEVIN COSTNER & WHITNEY HOUSTON, TOO, BUT MY GIRL DID A BEAUTIFUL JOB ON HER MOVIE DEBUT, BY THE WAY.🙂👍✌️❤️🎥📀📼😁
Wow, never heard of Brother’s Keeper. I want to see it. Kudos to Roger and Gene for reviewing The Crying Game without spoiling it!
Thirty years ago this week...how time flies.
GUYS, LOOK. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE "THE BODYGUARD" SO VERY MUCH, BUT IT'S 2 THUMBS WAY UP 4 ME.🙂😀😁👍✌⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🌟
My reviews
The Distinguished Gentleman (two thumbs down)
Brother's Keeper (two thumbs up)
The Bodyguard (two thumbs up, way up; one of the best films that year)
the crying game (1 penis up)
The Crying Game is a masterpiece
2 very very enthusiastic thumbs up for The Crying Game. Congratulations to Neil Jordan for a great British masterpiece about the secrets within the underworld activities of the IRA. If the Academy Awards overlook this film, we'll resign our jobs as film critics.
Harold Ramis should've directed The Distinguished Gentlemen
Jonathan lynn was political director in yes prime minister. He was television too slow!
I love The Crying Game... fantastic film...
That Viennese coffee commercial: I thought the picture had some strong performances and a welcome twist ending with a certain evocative quality, but the premise! These people just came from the airport, haven't even unpacked yet. Did they buy this coffee product before they left? Do they expect us to believe they purchased it *in* Vienna and brought it back with them? A big thumbs-down from me; it's 30 seconds of my life ill never get back. What do you think, Gene?
Well, it turned out that this was the cut that the studio forced on the film after they discovered that The Crying Game had beaten them to the box office with their original premise. The Directors Cut (only available on LaserDisc as part of the Criterion Collection) has an additional 15 seconds of shocking plot twists and full-frontals.
Body g: c+ Kevin is his normal stiff; CG; A- The beginning drags then it's great!
i really want to see mona lisa now
HEY, BUDDY. I CAN UPLOAD "THE ERASER 1996," "WALLACE & GROMIT," "THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME," & "LONE STAR" 4 YOU. IF YOU LET ME, OF COURSE. 🙂👍✌️❤️😊🥰😘🎥📀📼🎞️🎬🍿
Thank you for posting these do you have a lot more?
BODYGUARD, CRYING GAME, they open with that?
