- Today for our Dollar Tree DIY, we're creating front porch decor featuring a tall wood lantern and a two tier half barrel panter! These are all made from Items from Dollar Tree, Dollar General and a $1.50 wood finial from Lowes. These can be used indoors too! All of the projects I create have complete supply list below so you can easily use it for reference as you gather your supplies!

Thank you so much for tuning in today! I hope that you all enjoyed these porch decor ideas, and give them a try! These are great for a covered porch, but if you intend to place in direct weather, use a weather proof protective finish. Also, add weight to the barrels (rocks etc..) and secure the lantern to a sturdy structure to prevent tipping. Enjoy!!!

How did you adhere the lights to the top?

I've used the little trophies from Dollar Tree or Dollar General as finials for my lantern I made. You can find them in the toy or party section. You get several in a pack. I removed the handles and the bottom, sanded then painted.once dry simply glued to the top.
So happy to see someone doing outdoor decor that isn't just signs. I wish crafters would do more summer outdoor ideas with dollar tree items. Love all of your projects!

You are 100 percent my favorite crafter. I adore everything you do. Thank you for filling up my crafter's list for at least a year or more! You have kept me busy and trust me when I say that this past year has been hard. I lost my crafting drive when, I lost my brother to cancer, my mother to parkinson's and my grandmother to natural causes. Then my 16 year old son was in Childerns Hospital after the doctors found a cyst that was 4in thick and 5in wide from a wreck he was in. Now my 30 year old was diagnosed with something called STV. Life has been has been mentally tough on me. So I try to keep busy with crafting. Thank you for being a positive mental support for me. 😍
Watched this video again 🤗🤗. I absolutely luv the TALL lantern, I bought 10 of the garden stakes a month ago and, still haven’t made it 🤦♀️🤦♀️. Actually I forgot I bought the stakes for this project. It’s really hard to say. My grandson is getting married October 8th and it’s going to be one of those barn wedding. Both of this would be great for decor at his wedding, just painted a different color. The lanterns would look great sitting on the floor with fairy lights and a little floral. Maybe on the table with the grooms cake. Now I’m getting excited. But I definitely loved the tiered planter and with some floral and lights also. Thank you for sharing!!!

The lantern is awesome! Love that you used black - makes it look so high end. Dividing the hanger is clever and looks beautiful. The other options of lights or a candle are great making it easy to change it out through out the year! I love this lantern. The Two Tiered Barrel Planter is so unique and beautiful. Love that it’s tiered and it’s just an amazing look. It’s got a fantastic construction that will withstand the elements of outside. I also feel this planter coordinates so well with the lantern! Definitely making both of these projects for my porch!!

I really like the double planters & plan to go get the plungers & screws to make two of them for my backyard succulent garden. I have all the various whiskey barrels also from Dollar General & Big Lots. I distress them with white matte chalk paint & antique wax. This takes them to a realistic look.
