I would like to see a Victorian Era TW. Similar mechanics to empire and Napoleon but obviously updated and in a different time period with different factions and stuff
America's Eyes Part One: John Smith stood upon the walls of Jamestown, the late cold winds of winter blowing through his thick cloak. Jamestown was prospering but what was the point of coming to a new land and hiding in the town. It was time to seek out new lands for the people of America. John knew what had to be done and strode towards the town hall. “We need intelligence. It would be damn right foolish to charge headlong into a place we know so little about.” a captain stated. “I am aware of this Robert and I do not doubt that intelligence is key, but how do we go about this? We do not speak their barbaric language so how the hell do we find out.” spat John. “Sir, we may not speak their language but some of them speak ours. There are regular traders who have managed to grasp the basics and so all we do is ask some questions or pay one well to walk into their settlement and find out all they can.” Robert replied. “These natives would sell us out for a piece of fur. They care so little what we give them. Robert find someone we can question.” John ordered. A few days later as the first signs of spring began to show themselves, Robert was still pondering how he was going to find a native to question. It was at that point, almost as if God had heard his prayers for the past few days, that a small band of men was seen to be approaching the town. Robert sprinted from his home, buckling on his sword as he ran. He arrived at the gates just as the band of men were being escorted within. Robert smiled as he ordered the men to stand down, “Can you not see these men are merely traders, they have come here in peace. Come. Come. Follow me.” Robert beckoned to them and after a series of whispers the men followed. “Good,” Robert thought, “they understand me.” Robert led them to the town hall, ignoring the glances shot his way. “Come. Sit down.” Robert said warmly. “Now who among you speaks English?” “I speak your words.” “What is your name?” Robert asked with a fake smile. “I am Abooksigun and I speak for these men.” “What have you come here to offer us?” “We bring furs.” “What can we offer you for these furs?” “You men have i-ron. We want this. We see your weapons and tools.” “We can easily forge a deal. I am sure. You wait here and let me speak to my chief.” Robert hurried from the room and found the men he was looking for. It only took a short while for Robert to explain his plans to the gathered men, “In a few moments I need you to come through the main doors and kill all the natives except for the one with red paint on his face.” The men nodded in acknowledgement of their orders without questioning why they were murdering natives. Robert walked back into the main room and began speaking once again to Abooksigun. He needed to keep their attention focused on him. A minute or so later, Robert’s men crept into the room, knives at the ready. The men of America snuck forwards and with a casual gesture of his hand Robert gave the signal. The natives cried out in pain and surprise, but were soon silenced. Abooksigun made to rise but found Robert’s sword at his throat. “Now we can do this the easy or the hard way. Which would you prefer?” Robert asked. “We came in peace, as friends yet you killed my men.” Abooksigun spat in anger. “Looks like he chose the fun option.” Robert laughed. “Take him to the cellar and make sure he is well bound.” Robert followed his men as they dragged Abooksigun with them. As the native was bound to a chair, Robert took off his jacket and rolled up his sleeves. Robert suddenly turned and punched Abooksigun in the nose, a spray of blood erupted from it yet Abooksigun made no sound. Robert continued with a series of blow all across the other man’s face yet still Abooksigun made no sound. “You think you are a tough man do you. I have barely started.” Abooksigun spat blood at Robert who laughed. “Now you have annoyed me. You nearly hit me with that.” Robert pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped the blood from his hands before reaching for the knife on his belt. A few hours later Robert walked from the cellar, jacket in one hand and a small smile on his face. He headed off in search of John. He knew how many men were encamped in Werowocomoco. Robert learnt a key lesson, a lesson he was sure to pass on to all that followed him. It would be his legacy. Intelligence would win battles.

Awesome start to the US campaign. Thank you again for making it happen. Don't forget to build a dockyard. You will need a respectable navy to fight off the French fleets sailing around. Good luck with this campaign.
@@jacoblestina8455 well not exactly we did get a lot of immigrants from ireland, italy, and a few other european countries so it all depends on the persons heritage. Plus Indians where here as well before any settlers from the eastern hemisphere unless you count the vikings that came here before columbus
well done you might well convert Yorktown to a ship yard. you are at some disadvantage to the french navy. louisburg offers a chance for another. needed to build the navy you need.
Empire was an old guilty pleasure of mine. In fact it was the first game i got on steam when i bought a new computer. Attempted to install darthmod, but didnt work fsr. The day CA decides to go and make Empire 2 or Victoria Total War will be a happy day.
I love giant native archer formations, and companies of native warriors standing shoulder to shoulder in open fields against rifles. This game really remembers the contributions of chief WestpointGrad and The great warrior European Formations.
13:30 the attack on the native settlement I was just thinking of the Pocahontas song “They’re savages! Savages! Barely even human” the whole of the ensuing battle.
My favorite feature from Empire and Napoleon was the unit naming mechanics. Made me connect with the individual units more. That, and the fact that each unit you recruited had a randomly generated officer name. They could serve for years as a distinguished Colonel, until they are killed in battle or be promoted by making them a general (though i will note that an average player woulnt be as connected with a recruited general with no ties to any other characters in game, as in previous and future installments.
I find it quite amusing that the Fort Niagara map was probably one of the most well-thought out maps (in what was arguably the most 'defining/stand-out' aspect of Empire, the 'Road to Independence' campaign).
Lionheart . I really enjoy your videos as well as the game itself. It's amazing how you use your own battle tactics that quick which leads to a quick satisfied victory! Awesome!
Remember, fighting the natives is just like fighting the Zulus, you cant get into melee with them, you just have to keep them at range and you'll decimate them, but if they get in close, even your best units will crumble.
john smith the man who blew himself up with gunpowder , survived, went home and was so embarrassed wrote a massive fictionalised version to make himself look a lot better and not that he had craved a young girl.
I mean in that time period all the way up to the 1800s it was perfectly fine for young girls to be with old guys so for him to crave Pocahontas was perfectly acceptable for the time
james ward-gwilliam ah yes historical revisionism, sure he did that but he was also crucial to Virginia, every one these days is so focused on sifting our wrongs that they forget that no human is perfect. Instead of trashing John Smith why don’t you look at it from the whole picture? People are so focused on unearthing history they seem to make it up this is especially true with people like smith and Columbus.

Very interesting to watch, though I sort of wince at the way the "Indians' fight, lining up in the open with their spears and bows so that the colonials can shoot them without undue fuss and inconvenience.
You could name a unit like the 1st Virginia infantry for example then carry it over yourself by renaming a unit in the grand campaign with the same name

Sure I though tbh that people might want an updated install guide. I can’t promise one for a couple of weeks though but will do my best to get one made ASAP!
Download part 2 first, drag it to your desktop for the rar pack. Then once that is done, download (or launch the installer if already downloaded). It will prompt you for disk 2. All you have to do is select the file from your desktop and you will be good to go. don't forget to get eh 8.0.1 patch afterwards

I’m always intrigued how the Settlers spoke to the natives when they first become allies with them? Obviously it’s a completely different language and no one knew about the natives until the settlers went onto land
One of the forts in the second chapter is heavily bugged. Trying to arrange troops doesn't work, the troops markers go all over the place. I remember I was playing the land battle tutorial and in the cannon section, no matter what, my cannon would not hit the target.
I have 2000 hours on empire total war and other mods for it, I never knew you were able to rename units............ that could have saved me countless hours of army shuffling.........................................................................................................................................................................

How about a frigate fleet led by the U.S.S Constitution? You could rename the frigates the U.S.S President, the John Adams, the Chesapeake, the Philadelphia, the Constellation, the Congress, and the United States to the frigate fleet. You could have the six original frigates and then some.

This is probably never gonna happen but i want another Empire Total War game. Specifically, i think it would be cool if it was set during the mid 1800s so i guess the Victorian Era. I think it would super cool if they gave you campaigns set throughout the 1800s like the Crimean War, The Franco-Prussian War, and The American Civil War (i know the American Civil War didn't really effect the globe that much on the grand scale but i think it would still be cool...... plus im from America so i guess im little biased......Also i bet America probably back then was like....." WE ON EQUAL GROUNDS, WE ARE BIG BOYS,RESPECT US!!!!" And Europe was probably like "uh huh, sure, now its time to go to bed USA, the adults need to talk"😂). It would also be cool if they let you use the the whole world, kinda like Empire but just the whole world so you could fight wars in Asia, fight over colonies in Africa, Have a big European War set in Europe or hell, how about just have a giant ass World War because why not? That would be super fun!!!!😍 All that is probably just wishful thinking unfortunately, but i think that would be a fun game. I know theres like the Paradox Victoria games or mods but i want a Creative Assembly Total War Victorian Era type game. What capaign mode in Darthmod launcher are you using? And if I play the "United States" - the 4th "mission/campaign" in Road to Independence, what mode do I use in the launcher for campaign? I recently installed Darthmod and am absolutely lost on how it works.
The first native settlement you took is pronounced wera-coma-co, but that honestly doesn’t matter. However looking back at this game it’s easy to see how it’s a product of its time in not only graphics, with the whole “natives were a threat and conducted war while the new world colonists only wanted peace” deal.
Says a lot about the colonists that the native Americans so heavily supported Britain in the revolutionary war to be honest. Then again, those colonists were incensed by Britain passing laws that greatly benefitted the native Americans, especially Washington who wanted the government to grant him a parcel of land to help pay off his debts and wasn't given it.
In fairness, the story of this Road to Independence campaign is specifically being told by George Washington, who obviously isn't the most reliable or unbiased narrator. I don't think the people who made the game actually think of the conflict as being so one-sided, considering the Warpath campaign tells the exact opposite story if you play as one of the native nations.
@@Wolf6119 I never played warpath since i never really got into empire, but that would make sense. Although i was referring to the opening scene with Jamestown which if i understood correctly wasn't being told by Washington, but I could be wrong.
@@ibbykacimi2985 Notice that right at the beginning of the first part, we see Washington go into his tent and write in his diary (or maybe he's writing a letter to his wife or something). Anyway, the point is that the whole thing is being written out by Washington as the battle of Bunker Hill is raging in Boston. As the revolution against Britain begins, Washington sits down to reflect upon the history of the American colonies, all the way back to Jamestown. He's the one narrating all of the cutscenes, so we can assume that this is his recollection and interpretation of what happened at Jamestown, not the accurate historical rendition.
Yeah the narrative makes a lot of sense given who it is being told by. Whole lot of revisionism has occurred regarding America in that time period. The whig history has prevailed and been reflected in social attitudes ever since. The reality differs somewhat.
I wonder why they made John Smith a military commander? In reality he's only a explorer, who made more peace with the natives then actually fight them, whilst Christopher Newport was a Privateer that fought in the Anglo-Spanish war, but he never really engaged the natives either. Thomas West, or Lord Delaware, was the actual aggressor to the Powhatan confederacy, ransacking and pillaging much of their territory along the James river, committing many atrocities, including the murder of children and the mutilation of prisoners.
they also glossed over the fact that he was probably the one who started the whole bloody thing as well by being overzealous with his orders or just clueless about what he was supposed to be doing in the first place...
I have one BIG QUESTION How can I remove fire by rank? Im playing the Darthmod for napoleon total war. Every unit, even militia fires by rank. I want just the front rank to fire. even if just the first 2 or 3 ranks fire would be better! PLEASE Help! Edit: I use the v.2.65 Epic Edition (latest version)
It should be noted that the only reason the British taxed the 13 colonies so harshly was because they had to in order to pay off debt from the 7 Years War. The British mainland and all the British colonies were being taxed to sh*t as well. However, this does not mean British parliament and the king were right. If the kingdoms of Europe ceased their wars caused by the slightest grievances, the culture of war would not have caused the hatred between them. And without hate and greed, there would be no wars in the first place.

Gone back to playing TW:Empire over the holidays. Even without mods, it holds up surprisingly well in 2024.
This is the earliest form of Manifest Destiny, except this time the natives are basically the Skaven with their numbers

How about a frigate fleet led by the U.S.S Constitution? You could rename the frigates the U.S.S President, the John Adams, the Chesapeake, the Philadelphia, the Constellation, the Congress, and the United States to the frigate fleet. You could have the six original frigates and then some.

This is probably never gonna happen but i want another Empire Total War game. Specifically, i think it would be cool if it was set during the mid 1800s so i guess the Victorian Era. I think it would super cool if they gave you campaigns set throughout the 1800s like the Crimean War, The Franco-Prussian War, and The American Civil War (i know the American Civil War didn't really effect the globe that much on the grand scale but i think it would still be cool...... plus im from America so i guess im little biased......Also i bet America probably back then was like....." WE ON EQUAL GROUNDS, WE ARE BIG BOYS,RESPECT US!!!!" And Europe was probably like "uh huh, sure, now its time to go to bed USA, the adults need to talk"😂). It would also be cool if they let you use the the whole world, kinda like Empire but just the whole world so you could fight wars in Asia, fight over colonies in Africa, Have a big European War set in Europe or hell, how about just have a giant ass World War because why not? That would be super fun!!!!😍 All that is probably just wishful thinking unfortunately, but i think that would be a fun game. I know theres like the Paradox Victoria games or mods but i want a Creative Assembly Total War Victorian Era type game. Tell me if you agree or if i just sound completely delusional and that type of game is just to hard to make💜

The first native settlement you took is pronounced wera-coma-co, but that honestly doesn’t matter. However looking back at this game it’s easy to see how it’s a product of its time in not only graphics, with the whole “natives were a threat and conducted war while the new world colonists only wanted peace” deal.
Says a lot about the colonists that the native Americans so heavily supported Britain in the revolutionary war to be honest. Then again, those colonists were incensed by Britain passing laws that greatly benefitted the native Americans, especially Washington who wanted the government to grant him a parcel of land to help pay off his debts and wasn't given it.
In fairness, the story of this Road to Independence campaign is specifically being told by George Washington, who obviously isn't the most reliable or unbiased narrator. I don't think the people who made the game actually think of the conflict as being so one-sided, considering the Warpath campaign tells the exact opposite story if you play as one of the native nations.
@@Wolf6119 I never played warpath since i never really got into empire, but that would make sense. Although i was referring to the opening scene with Jamestown which if i understood correctly wasn't being told by Washington, but I could be wrong.
@@ibbykacimi2985 Notice that right at the beginning of the first part, we see Washington go into his tent and write in his diary (or maybe he's writing a letter to his wife or something). Anyway, the point is that the whole thing is being written out by Washington as the battle of Bunker Hill is raging in Boston. As the revolution against Britain begins, Washington sits down to reflect upon the history of the American colonies, all the way back to Jamestown. He's the one narrating all of the cutscenes, so we can assume that this is his recollection and interpretation of what happened at Jamestown, not the accurate historical rendition.
Yeah the narrative makes a lot of sense given who it is being told by. Whole lot of revisionism has occurred regarding America in that time period. The whig history has prevailed and been reflected in social attitudes ever since. The reality differs somewhat.

I wonder why they made John Smith a military commander? In reality he's only a explorer, who made more peace with the natives then actually fight them, whilst Christopher Newport was a Privateer that fought in the Anglo-Spanish war, but he never really engaged the natives either. Thomas West, or Lord Delaware, was the actual aggressor to the Powhatan confederacy, ransacking and pillaging much of their territory along the James river, committing many atrocities, including the murder of children and the mutilation of prisoners.
they also glossed over the fact that he was probably the one who started the whole bloody thing as well by being overzealous with his orders or just clueless about what he was supposed to be doing in the first place...
With an enemy AI that bad you should be in Seattle by 1782 or so.

Every unit, even militia fires by rank.
I want just the front rank to fire.
even if just the first 2 or 3 ranks fire would be better!

That's really sad your progress won't transfer over to grand campaign. I feel like that's a big oversight for the devs
It should be noted that the only reason the British taxed the 13 colonies so harshly was because they had to in order to pay off debt from the 7 Years War. The British mainland and all the British colonies were being taxed to sh*t as well.
However, this does not mean British parliament and the king were right. If the kingdoms of Europe ceased their wars caused by the slightest grievances, the culture of war would not have caused the hatred between them. And without hate and greed, there would be no wars in the first place.
