Thw biggest mistake Newfoundland ever made was getting rid of the train..can you imagine the unlimited possibilities for the future had this not happened...Bring back the train....

I am from Bonavista and rode this train numerous times during the 1970s. Sometimes, it was just the ten miles to Catalina, other times it was further up the line to Port Rexton or Princeton or the whole way to Clarenville. Loved it!! Loved the Bonavista Branch train. Loved seeing it at crossings and hearing the train horn.

Ok you have started my 2021 off on the right foot! I’ve seen an abbreviated version of this, but not this long one. I’ve been after the government since 2012 to step up and allow a group to preserve the Trinity Loop as a heritage railway. I will be sharing this on my Facebook page for the loop. I can’t thank you enough for sharing this I am absolutely delighted with this!

I was wondering if a heritage train could be done, even a small part. I know it would be a huge job, parts, logistics, crews, servicable equipment etc. I know I'd love to see it. I'm from Winnipeg and visited NL twice. I should be out there next summer for vacation. One thing about vacationing is you need a car to go everywhere, rentals are a small fortune now, wish there was some kind of alternate.

Yuppers! Only narrow gauge line left in North America that still hauls freight like this is the plaster city narrow gauge!

With only 3 trains a week and taking 5 hours to cover 88 miles, it's not surprising the railway closed, sad as it is.

To my limited knowledge of this Canadian line. This is the rarest CN locomotives. It is nice to hear them burbling along. Thank you for sharing this most interesting bit railroad history. Wow !

There's a preserved example at Exporail near Montreal. Several of them were sold to a narrow gauge mining operation in South America.
