One of the first songs I learned on the bass in 1966 as a young man of 14 years old! (And "Gloria" by "Them", and "Louie Louie", etc! I played with a band shortly thereafter and had a ton of fun! Great time in my life. Still doing the "bass" thing at 71 years of age and play weekly (Sunday morning and Wednesday evening) at church!

1966 was a great year for music in the UK.
Yes he was fantastic, he had a distinct voice, very powerful so so good. Another one that springs to mind is Eric Burdon of the Animals. These guys were really special.

I was 17 and had front row seats at the Regal Edmonton 17 /4/66. Stevie Winwood was my heart throb. .l was lucky enough to meet him before the show.He was playing the piano alone on stage.My legs were like jelly when I met him.He was lovely signing all my stuff.Me and some other girls had got in the back door.They liked Roger Daltrey.

2nd consecutive tremendous post of a phenomenal hit by the Winwood Brothers, drummer Pete York, and the recently passed Spencer Davis. Dig the mustache on big brother Muff Winwood. 18 year old Stevie said "he had riffs swimming around his head" and lifted a very important one from Memphis-native Homer Banks' 1966 release "Lotta Love". It is the basis of "Gimme Some Lovin' ".

I was 15 years old when this song hit the radio airwaves in 1966.. we loved it .
Our Church Minister was not happy about this song at the time and gave us teenagers a stern sermon about listening to the 'devils music' while parents nodded in agreement .

I was at their Sheffield Uni Students Union gig in 1966 (or '67) and was entranced by Stevie Winwood's powerful vocals, his mesmerising organ riffs and his totally focussed presence at the keyboard. I was completely wowed - and simultaneously in love with my boyfriend who I was with, on a trip over there from Keele Uni where we were both students! Have only just learned that Spencer Davis is no more! Very sad. But so grateful that Steve W is still going strong. Hearing his recent gentle solo rendering of John Barleycorn was a delight.
The best and a good friend forever is Spencer Davis R.I.P. . I saw him live in Offenbach/Main im Capitol!

Saw Winwood in concert about 4 years ago in Baltimore's Meyerhoff Symphony Hall... his Hammond was set up on the left side of the stage and my wife and I were in the third row on that side of the stage. He did this as the second number of the show, and it stood the hair up on the back of my neck. Winwood is one of the masters of the craft.

First heard this song (at least I thought) in the early 2000's on a vhs "rockin & 4 wheelin" tape. Knew I was an old soul because even though I was about 6 years old, I was dancing like it was 1960's again. To this day nothing gets me up and moving quite like this one.
