Why do we feel the pressure to fit in when we were born to stand out?

Therefore people may feel pressure to conform so they fit in or are accepted, or so they don't feel awkward or uncomfortable. In today’s instalment we unpack the pressures of trying to belong and fit in.

Interesting episode "love your tribe and love them hard". Secondly, It's also interesting how we also have our own hidden biases and silently contributing to societal pressures on when to marry and have kids. I'm referring to Lerato's " joke" on Liquidip and people who aren't married. Such biases often come out unintentionally and that's exactly what puts so much pressure to fit in and even fall into trap of making wrong decisions. Maybe this is another topic that you can unpack in the next episode. I don't know how the title will look like because I feel like it's part of this topic and it just reflected some of our lived experiences.

I love this channel so much, thank you The Makhs for your authenticity and robust conversations. You always speak to the season I am in. The journey of self actualisation is lonely and it's filled with opposition. Prayer is vital on this journey. It's also important to remember that people will only understand you in hindsight. Agreed there is no need to want to fit in because we need to embrace our unique purpose.

There is a reason why the word of God speaks about the importance of being embedded in 'community'. In my opinion, there's always that 1/2 people one can be vulnerable to about what's going on but because of pride and "abantu bazothini" we do not. I don't necessarily believe that telling people about your challenges is making it their "problem" unless you have expectations for them to give you money or material things, but having someone to pour out to which is vital in our life journey.
You guys should totally do one of these with Mpoomy and Brandon

I pray that may God give you strength to walk away. What's for you will be for you and it will give you peace. I'm a living testimony of that. I had lost myself. I thought I'm not better off without them, but I had t take a step and stand for myself . Trust me is not an easy decision to make or is not easy to break that chain, but I believe you can do it Masego. You are capable. God gave you that authority.

I give my mom a standing ovation and round of applause cos she tought me from a very young age to understand my life and be constant with the little I have..it was never easy growing up without what other kids had but when I got to high school to date it became easy...I do not struggle with fitting in and per pressure cos I kind off became a loner😂😂an individual..

Once I finally got this revelation in my life, I realised how much I need Jesus even for the very breathe I take. Not people. Don’t be angry with people. At work, at church, your family. If we could learn this, even as Christians we would let go of certain people without “cutting them off” because we are bitter. Let go of expectations and love people for who they are. That’s it.
Find your tribe and love them hard. I live by this and I love it in that lane.
