Just love the old Gospel music Quartet with "The Imperials" especially with Armond Morales velvet calm and serene bass voice. Truly, a wonderful voice to delight and honor the Lord.
...and Henry Slaughter’s arrangements... it doesn’t get any better than this. Still stands up after all of these years!
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful album! I haven't heard it or the other original Imperials albums in decades. God bless you!
Thank you for sharing this...brings back such wonderful memories. The quality is wonderful too!
Long Beach Municipal Auditorium!!
Thanks very much for this. I really mostly enjoy the Jake Hess years up to '67 ! and afterwards up to Sail On too :) God Bless
Still great music. I began collecting the music of the Imperials in the early 1970s.
Incredible sophistication with the musical and vocal arrangements. Harmonies that perhaps only the GVB can get close to today. Armond did not have the great bass of the Big Chief, JD or George Younce, but he is so smooth. McSpadden’s baritone is second only to Doy Ott. Sherrill née Shaun has a very dramatic tenor. Henry has a totally unique style on the ivories. And then there is Jake Hess, who simply has no equal-not then, not now. Also, these guys were all over the gospel charts. I saw them often when they would team up with the Statesmen, Blackwoods and JD & The Stamps; often at Constitution Hall in D.C. I rate this quartet behind only The Statesmen with Denver and The Statesmen with Rosie.
Imperials were the best
Wow this is really an oldie!! RIP Gary McSpadden..fly high into the arms of God.
