This game is phenomenal man, but I think everyone who plays this game should atleast have an idea of who Wukong is so I will try to briefly explain the lore I know for anyone whos wants to know. Sun Wukong comes from a novel named Journey to the West, a 16th century novel that contains mythology, and folktales. The main character of the book is a monk named Tang Sanzang and he was tasked to retrieve Buddhist scriptures from India. He and 3 others, Sun Wukong, Bai Loong Ma, also known as The White Dragon Horse, Zhu Bajie or Pigsy, and Sha Wujing. On their journey the have to go through 81 challenges in order to reach Buddha, and they must fight many forms of creatures and yaoguais (demons) aswell. More importantly, Sun Wukong is the strongest among them, he was born from a rock and is incredibly strong, fast and could transform into 72 beings and animals, he also has a staff that can become as big or as small as he wants, he is mischievous and pursues freedom and was able to achieve immortality 6 times over but he was such a nuisance to the gods that they despised him, so he was tricked into working for Tang Sanzang by the gods, via a headband. On his own journey, he fights Erlang, the God of War and an army of 100,000 warriors, but he loses, like in the game. The main character in this game may be a reincarnation of Sun Wukong himself, or a loyal follower, looking for his 6 relics to resurrect him.
The game is a bit confusing on what happened with the Bears story unless you're already familiar with the book. So basically, a monk named Jinichi had a temple and was friends with a Bear, a Wolf, and a Snake demon. He prized his holy kasayas which are fancy prayer robes. When Senzang and Wukong come across the temple on their Journey to the West, Sanzang has a kasaya so beautiful that Jinchi tries to kill Sanzang and Wukong by burning down the temple and stealing the robe. It doesn't work cause Wukong is immortal and protects Sanzang. Jinchi dies in the fire and the temple is destroyed. The Black Wind Bear, the Wolf Lingxuzi and the White robed serpent swear revenge on Wukong and Sanzang. Wukong kills the snake and wolf and the Bear is sent to the goddess of mercy Guanyin, the lady the bear is talking to in the animation cutscene, to be a monk. He decided to return to rebuild the temple and revived his friends who are the 3 bosses in chapter 1.
I’ll be honest Shawn probably the fastest person I’ve seen more or less adapt to the game but also the complete slowest when it comes to anything with inventory, crafting, leveling like bro will either take a glance at it and dip or he’ll only focus on 1 part and not know that their 3 other completely different options for inventory and leveling
