For anyone on minimal budget, you can get 5 gallon food grade buckets for free from bakeries and other food stores. You will have to call ahead and wash them out yourself. Frosting, puddings and sauces come in these. They usually get thrown away. No gamma lids, but the lids have gaskets.
I bought those 60lb vittles containers. They are supposed to be stackable. Nope they crushed in on each other even with 30lbs. I don't have shelves to put them on in a small home. So I returned them.for the 50lb & 80lb that are 14 x14 wide tall vittles containers. I wish I knew they needed shelves to hold the weight before buying. It's challenging to create a working pantry in a small home.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ROOM IN YOUR OWN HOME IF YOU HAVE A MOM AND/OR DAD NEAR BY YOU MIGHT ASK THEM IF YOU CAN STORE AT THEIR HOME TOO. OR YOU COULD TRY TO GET A SHED IN YOU BACK YARD AS WELL, IF YOU HAVE A SMALL PLACE YOUR LIVING AT, OR RENT A SMALL STORAGE PLACE.
It has a 80lbs, can't imagine lol I just got 5 60lbs and 4 35lbs. I'm so excited. I still need to get some 5 gallon buckets with gamma seal lids for my mylar bags. Just look at your pantry, blessings....God is good! I remember when you just started
thank you for showing us your pantry I got a few ideas I don't think the large containers will leave and fit in the closet that I am using for a pantry so it'll have to be the 5 gallon bucket system thank you and bless you.
Has anyone had to move with their food storage? I have 5 gallon buckets with gamma lids for my grains. Our move is cross country, so our grains are either going to be with us in the back of our car for a week, or it's going to go with the moving company and be in storage for 2 months or so. I'm really worried about my grains spoiling.
We moved 8 years ago about 2,000 miles with all our food storage in Mylar bags in 5 gallon buckets with O2 absorbers and then our main food source was our storage that we ate the first year while we were getting established
Gallon for trash cans is for volume. If you put în them 21 "gallon" of lead it definetly can't resist. His bottom will crack. If you try to move it, will broke. What about 21 gallons of leaves? It is ok. It depends on what you put in them
For long term storage what I have done to make it last longer or at least what i've been told. I will vacuum seal rice or beans and have some moisture absorbers in the package when its sealed. then put it to totes or gamma sealed in order make it store for 5-10 years though realistically right now its to help fight inflation till we can get more organized what are your thoughts? I have done this with larger bags like a 25 lbs or do a mix of 2-5 lb bags etc
I love those storage bins. I'd love to get them, but don't have anywhere to put them. My storage room is being half used up by my hubby's dirt bikes. They're antique, and he won't move them, so I have to make do with what I have.
I live in a 1 bedroom apartment that I can't DIY anything. Prepping seems pretty impossible! What are some storages for very small places? I'm guessing rice and dry beans are about all I'd be able to store realistically, but there has to be a way to make it work.
Yes :) you absolutely can be prepared even in a small space. I’ve seen people living in RV’s prep food. Just get crafty with where to store things. 1 box in a closet. A bookshelf turned pantry storage, under the bed, in a dresser, storage ottoman, under a couch , under a bed. Do the best you can with what you have. Good luck!
Getting some totes to place rice, pasta, spices/seasonings using Mylar bags with oxygen absorbers. You can put a tote under your bed, spare dresser drawer or a closet.
I just grabbed two of the ones that hold 60 lbs from Costco today they were $28 a piece. Im thinking i neer to switch from to these for storing bulk items loke beans ,flour , sugar, pasta oats and anything else i started with half gallon mason jars but they take up so much room
Regarding your Vittles Gamma container, how did you finally get rid of its horrible plastic odor? I've tried soapy water, vinegar, airing it outdoors...
Don't you worry about putting poison down with pets or any animals as mice can eat it, travel and die and be food for some unsuspecting creature or bird ? Just curious approximately how big is your prep room? Currently I am using a spare bedroom but it seems to be filling up fast.
That was my thought as well a little liquid smoke and some head country bbq sauce. Use it for sandwiches or over rice, and repent for not smoking it as I think it is a sin in Texas! 🤣
My husband would say the same but he’s stuck in the 80’s when you could get one of those for $.50 😅 I have to remind him the cost of “the best” these days cause he’s a tad. Delusional when it comes to giving me freedom to buy the best at these prices.

I pick the 5 gallon buckets and gamma lids at Winco and they are HALF of what you're finding them on Amazon.

Wait? Why do they need shelves? Aren't they suppose to be stackable
Tractor supply has the bucket for $4 amazon sells the gaba $10

Gotta love Canadian prices. A 60lb gamma container for us on amazon is $100.78.
Man does our dollar ever suck!
Living in a small apartment there is limited space to store bulk so clever planning and purchasing is key

Closet?
Can you put the rice direct in the can? And what if you open it in the meanwhile? Will it last significant shoter?
Hello! Love the content of your videos and am learning so much. Can you tell me where you get your red lentil pasta please?

Under your bed is always an idea.

Getting rid of the bed and other encumbrances, and turning it into a storage/garden. Do you have a balcony? It's tough, but doable. Also closets etc
@@mobootsie2u excellent points
Nice pantry!

If you do auto ship from Petco, you also get a discount per bag, free delivery and after you buy 7 bags, your 8th bag is FREE.
What are some ideas of what to use oats for? And is this the same as oatmeal?
I love your pantry! Those big vault containers are awesome! I’m using the 5 gal buckets with gamma lids. Wondering where you got your bulk pasta?
I'd like to know that too.
Have you tried restaurant supply stores?

Where did you find your label maker?

@@TheTexasBoys awesome! Thank you!
Will you do a video on water storage? New sub by the way
I found brisket on sale at $1.85 lb for Easter, so I am going against my Texas roots and am canning it instead of smoking it like I prefer!
Brisket...Blasphemy🤣
It will still be delicious, maybe can it with a liquid smoke or bbq sauce you like.👍

It’s a working pantry so very little is long term storage
Texas Mom, Was that a 5lb bag of red lentil pasta?
Can i ask what mind of shelves are you usjing ?
Good morning 😃
Definitely got to eat
Hi, I am loving this series, but just curious how you are storing water or what your plans are for that??
We have a well, and also a pond on the property. We have a Berky to filter water if needed.
Ya the reviews are not great. Which sucks. Exactly what i was looking for. And non of the smaller ones are stackable at all. Just like a bucket.
HE'S FUNNY.
