Biography:
Almost a decade into his career, San Diego-based rapper Ruslan is Christian hip hop’s jack of all trades. When he isn’t writing and producing original music, he develops compelling content on RUclips, mentors up-and-coming artists, and runs his own podcast at Bless God Studios.
I’m 70 years old. I know nothing about rap music but when I heard Die, I knew that God was going to use that song to minister to this generation that struggles with suicide and needs hope. Amazing work!❤

Jon’s new album was great ,but I like what Caleb said on your pod a little while back.. something like .. “everybody talks about being depressed, but the people need to hear how to get out of it”
I 100% disagree with you. Jon’s music is there for those who’s going through the most and always shows that his Faith is the foundation to him dealing with everything . Depression is not the only thing he speaks about although it is common theme in music but he always points us to Christ.
And Caleb didn’t mean exactly what you said, cause his music touches a lot on his struggles etc. he was saying in the secular culture there is no resolution to the problem.
As someone who struggles with depression, I LOVE that Jon is real about his experience! Too many Christians aren’t, and it only makes it worse to deal with. This album came at just the right time for me haha
Maybe because he's not fully out of it? And may not know how yet either. I sure as hell don't know how to get out of it.
The last couple of songs on the album are about him going to Jesus looking for help. He is still in the process
Jon and Andy is a killer combo…their voices complement each other. Need more from the 2 of them
Before you judge the music or the man’s heart, listen to the whole thing. Yes…in the end we come out the other side but what I appreciate in this record is that Jon recognizes where his heart is and puts that into prayer. This is the album Christian music needed. Life isn’t perfect. It won’t be for this time around at least. And even after I was saved I had moments where I wanted to die. The road gets long and heavy and too much for us to bear. What Jon understood in this album and what we need to understand in our daily lives is that we have to submit to Christ.
He is the only answer. We have to be vulnerable in our faith. Don’t be scared because this album makes you uncomfortable. Plenty of people have felt this way.
Instead of being a critic for someone being authentic. Be an ear for them to speak to. Be a heart for the broken people. Jesus was there even when we weren’t for Him. Let’s do better family.

Eremos was beautifully vulnerable on a path to the Savior. It's a breath of fresh air for art as a whole because it mixed exploring deep pain and finding true joy as the remedy so gracefully. I loved every minute of it.

I literally stayed up till 12 just to listen to ermos and honestly it wasn’t anything I was expecting but I loved the message and the story. Jon was one of the first artist I started listening to when I started taking my Christianity seriously

One of my favorite examples in the Bible of someone struggling with mental health is Habakkuk.
He literally said kill the Babylonians or let us all die to ease the pain.
The God was like, “Nah. We gonna do it my way because I am who I say I am.”
Habakkuk was like, “cool. I respect and love you.”
One of my absolute fave discussions. So informative. I love JK and there is good rich dialogue in contrast to the rest of the “noise” out in the Christian sector.

The church needs to start understanding that not everything negative is a demon or spiritual attack. It could just mean they need therapy but are to afraid or prideful to admit their brokenness
They need to listen to NF a rapper who is a Christian that raps about what he went through for years. He has a new song Hope coming out.

didn't see this comment , but yes that's what I thought when Jon seemed to be defensive about not protecting the saved. He worded it so it sounded good that it " wasn't in the bible " this was a teachable moment that I think Ruslan missed.
I opened for Shane and Shane one time at a secular venue and made about $100 there was 3k people there. Then played at a youth group for like 200 kids and made $1200. Wild reality to the music industry.

This wouldn’t be a problem if churches stopped chasing new music/fashions and just stuck with the classics. This isn’t a criticism of the artists… I hope they succeed in a music career, but churches shouldn’t be putting on concerts as a substitute for worship. Just my opinion, I know others have different traditions.

32:53 to that point, I think music artists are held to a different standard than everyone else. I’m a nurse, I work with other nurses and take care of people who ARE NOT CHRISTIANS. Artists are artists and THIS IS THEIR JOB! Your job is a ministry and very well can’t be a ministry if it’s only done around people who know Jesus. It’s not another Christian person’s job to protect you, the Holy Spirit is doing that. 🤷🏾♀️

It's definitely worth a listen
I can see doing collaboration with people on neutral music and subject matter, but the people that that publicly are satanic or mock Christ or who is in a new age movement. The subject matter is important too and what the music is promoting like killing, drug use or promoting sin.
For example that song 😊” You are so beautiful” is trending to tell girls with eating disorders that they are beautiful. It reminded me to tell my family too. God is love. But we have to be aware of setting healthy boundaries even as Christians.

im usually not a stickler but when he said not protect the saved not being in the bible no but it does talk about not making your brother stumble not saying Ruslan or Jon do that intentionally but i feel this was a missed opportunity to explore that part. If anyone has the exact verse i don't know it by heart but i felt like they were too casual talking about saved vs lost. Yes be fishers of men but encourage one another in Christ equally as important imo.

None of the Saved will fall away. If they fall to the world, they were never Christians. It says in the Bible that Jesus will not lose any of his followers, not one.
I dont know if get it right, my english may not be perfect hahah but guys, saying that we should not protect the saved, may not protect in the strict sense, but man... we MUST be around the faith family, supporting each other, discipleship, there are countless verses that are teaching, or better, commanding those things to us as christian. If you're a Christian Rapper then you're ministering who you are in your music to draw in unbelievers to get saved and to connect them with Jesus. Christians don't perform they ministers.

He has some punchy raps from his older works. "Layers in Arizona" and "genes" might have some of the best bars from him. But a lot of his 2018-2020 works and collabs have some great flow and some bars. Most of his works with indie tribe as well.
Ministry and individual salvation are separate. Each one of us is a minister and to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. However, our ministry is our own decision by which we are to be guided by the Holy Spirit, to speak the Gospel of Christ to the glory of the Father. I do not have a say on who Jon allows to rap on his albums. That's between him and God. However, the moment these relationships affect Jon's walk or theology and stain the ministry, then I can say something.
