Cavaliers from Rosemont, Illinois played excepts from "Harrison's Dream" in 2010, and took second place in the Drum Corps. International Championship at Indianapolis, Indiana. In my opinion , they did a marvelous job with this band piece!
the comparison between the British brass sound and DCI is an apt one. Lack of French horns and added tonalities in the low winds (trombone/ baritone/ euph) being two I can think of immediately. Seems as well that the traditional "spin" British bands use is a little less pronounced on newer pieces. Or they are trending towards faster/ technical pieces that don't showcase that esthetic as much.
In wind ensamble we were sight reading this and we now call it harrisons nightmare. :D but the more we work on it the better it sounds. i think itll be good
