the tip for putting floatant on your tippet it awesome! I never thought of that
All good stuff. Don't forget about Syl's Midge. Clip that dry fly off and swing an unweighted, size 16 soft hackle right in front of their noses.
Awesome video
Thanks so much for the info! I’m guiding the owyhee in Oregon this year and I want to tie my own midges.
Do you guys ever fish suspended midges? I hunt geese in the winters so I could use the cdc
Could you guys make a fly tying video for that cluster midge? that fly looks awesome
I'm guessing you don't grease the tippet is the film left by the floatant? I always grease the tippet, especially in choppy water and have not seen negative impacts from the film, but who knows. Last year on a calm day on the lake, I could see the film clearly on the surface when just doping the fly. I switched flies (same size and style) and just used the powder. Did not see a difference in the number of takes, but can see where floatation film could be off-putting to the fish. Nice video and simplicity in midge selection is a welcomed statement! Tight lines brother!
why don't you use gel on the entire leader and tippet? I do.
You definitely can.
How are you fishing the grifths nat? Up stream and making sure it comes naturally down stream?
We have a saying on the Missouri River. “Fly first to the fish.” It’s always best to deliver the fly to a fishes mouth or feeding lane ahead of the leader, so they don’t see the leader. In many fishing situations that may not be easy, but keeping as much of leader away or to the side is always preferable. A natural drift is always key. Hope that answers your question. Tight Lines!
@@FredTelleen yes thank you for replying. 👍
That was an excellent excellent. Talk on midges. The one question I have are you using floor carbon I thought I heard to attach your midges to Float them near the surface
Mono is definitely going to keep your fly in the film better than fluoro. I am sure both work though depending on water speed, size of the fly etc.
