FLY FISHING WITH DRY FLIES | HOW TO FISH A MIDGE HATCH | Late Fall in the Driftless Region | Iowa

  • Dry fly fishing is one of the most fun ways to catch trout! I really cannot explain how good it feels to match the hatch and connect with a few nice fish! This was our second day fly fishing the Driftless Region just outside of Decorah Iowa. As the day had slightly warmed up the bad weather began to move in. This was not exactly fun, but for whatever reason it triggered a midge bite that the trout were really keyed in on! Kowalsky and I both got on a few excellent dry fly bites in the wake of this epic hatch! We really could have stayed at this corner the entire day! It was just too much dang fun trying to pick off the active fish. This is a perfect example of bad weather and really great fishing! Do not be afraid of a little rain and a little cold! Your hands won't be as cold holding a floppy trout!

Older fly fisherman from Connecticut. Love your content and unbridled enthusiasm. Fish the Wisconsin driftless every year and your river intel is great. Keep it coming. Can't get enough.

It was the perfect mix of rainy, cloudy, and cold!! Kept the anglers off the water and the fish eager to eat!
