After i saw this he instantly became my favorite player. and if you dont have goosebumps check your pulse. "off the floor on the board" has to be one of the greatest calls in sports history.
I'm a huge devils fan, but this moment (aside from the final seconds of game 7) is easily the best moment. when Gary Thorne made that call, and every time i hear it, its just incredible. how he found the strength to come back to that game i"ll never know
@@BobbyT. Technology wasn't bad, but concussion impacts still weren't known. CTE wasn't yet discovered, and we didn't have a wide range of former players committing suicide by shooting themselves in the heart, asking that their brains be examined. Today, if a guy is knocked out with a concussion, he has to go into concussion protocol right away, and more than likely won't be coming back into the game.
I chose him as my favorite player when I was little. I was 10 on this game and I remember it like it was yesterday. Best of luck to Paul Kariya. and GO DUCKS!!!
Seriously seeing him like that at :05 then to comeback ad hit that slapper with so much force past Martin with the commentating of Gary Thorne.. just Incredible..
This is why I continue to say that if it's not on a list it's not a list. This goal call will forever be remembered as one of the best SCF goals in modern history.
i know right? i was called a moron recently for making the VERY same analogy about many of this post-seasons hits. Miss this hockey- Paul Kariya was my childhood hero.
Woulda been a hell of a story if the Mighty Ducks won it all, especially if Kariya had a clutch game 7. But hey, great call by Thorne on a great comeback by Kariya
A damned tradgedy that he had to retire because people loved hitting him in the head. That man was absolutely amzing to watch play. "OFF THE FLOOR! ON THE BOARD! PAUL KARIYA!!"
@anaheim711 incredible moment, I loved watching it when I was little. But we'll see who has the longer career. Kariya was more warrior-like/ballsy. Crosby is doing it smarter.
I'm a die hard devils fan and I loved Scott Stevens but my goodness what a show of heart by one of the best players in the game at the time if not for injuries kariya woulda have gone after some records but thankfully we won behind Scott Stevens and the greatest of all time MR Martin Broduer also that was as clean as can be no elbow on that what so ever the man played about 20 years and bad 2 elbow penalties in his careers
Dangerous hit and definitely should be illegal, but by the rules of the game at the time it was a clean hit. Die Hard Ducks fan since 93, so in no way defending the hit, just according to the rules at the time it was clean
Wussies these days my ass. Paul Kariya was never the same because of concussion problems, while now we actually care about star players having careers rather than coulda woulda shoulda.
One of the best calls ever.
" OFF THE FLOOR! ON THE BOARD! PAUL KARIYA! " Gives me goosebumps every time...

If you don't have tears, you don't have a pulse

Here’s Kariya, the fans want one, SCORES! OFF THE FLOOR, ON THE BOARD! PAUL KARIYA.
Gary Thorne is amazing
"What if we'd known then about Concussions what we know now? ... History will be made."
It's only 2003, technology wasn't that bad then

@Bigbrando99 he woke back up. Thats his breath from a heavy 'back to life' exhalation.
amazing kariya, got to respect that
Great title, but History gets off the floor would be so much more badass. GREAT JOB THOUGH
i know right? i was called a moron recently for making the VERY same analogy about many of this post-seasons hits. Miss this hockey- Paul Kariya was my childhood hero.
As a Devils fan, I respect the hell out of him. I can't imagine many players would be able to come back from that hit.
Woulda been a hell of a story if the Mighty Ducks won it all, especially if Kariya had a clutch game 7. But hey, great call by Thorne on a great comeback by Kariya
Hes not breathing untill he takes that 1 big breathe and it fogs up his visor
love that goal horn
What a guy. I REALLY wish every hockey
@thumm99 Same here. Miss those days like crazy. =/
Stevens would of been suspended 25 games in today's NHL for that hit lol
A damned tradgedy that he had to retire because people loved hitting him in the head. That man was absolutely amzing to watch play. "OFF THE FLOOR! ON THE BOARD! PAUL KARIYA!!"
My top 5 players of my youth

"History Makes Us Mighty."
History will be made.
Go Ducks.
Wow, I was at that game where Kariya got injured.
KARIYA THE FANS WANT ONE SCOREE OFF THE FLOOR ON THE BOARD PAUL KARIYA
@anaheim711 incredible moment, I loved watching it when I was little. But we'll see who has the longer career. Kariya was more warrior-like/ballsy. Crosby is doing it smarter.
gary thorne was so good.
Stevens knocked some sense into him.
player had such a heart. :/
@Bigbrando99 that was his beath on the visor, he wasn't breathing
@TheRedwings1340
Nah, it was more fitting to have Teemu carry Anaheim's first Cup.
He look like he just faints for like 3 seconds and then his eyes just open
this is the same exact thing that happened to Nathan Horton from the Boston Bruins
BRING BACK THE MIGHTY DUCKS DAMNIT!
BAD.....ASS!!! SUPER GREAT VID
NJD!!!!!!!!!!

shemsdawg1 His elbow hit his head not clean at all

kariya had the heart of a lion he took that hit like a champ..... thats one player stevens didnt get too
Wussies these days my ass. Paul Kariya was never the same because of concussion problems, while now we actually care about star players having careers rather than coulda woulda shoulda.
He'd still be in the dark room a week later being tested if that was this year.
Bunch of wimps these days.
