RIP Paul Johnson. Chi town baby, Love my city. I was at the first 2005 Summer Festival it was ❤🔥. Dj Collette, Dj Heather, Super Jane - all played a couple years at the beginning of the festival . 🤘
Not enough love goes the blacks that literally created a whole world out of nothing but their desire to live and dance the stress of their lives away. We all can dance today thanks to what they created way back then.
@QEsposito510 I was going for a higher education angle but Thanks for the invitation nonetheless! And to be honest I be thinking that when I go out as a brown guy to a rave or house music event at a club, seeing nothing but white folks in the crowd or a white DJ. Like there's a realization all these people are having the time of their lives, to something these Chicago and New York blacks created.
Wanna be white supremacist Hispanic BABBLE ‼️ Black people even created reggaeton. I know it hurts you too know that as well. This man was simply giving respect. @@QEsposito510
Young JStar I love your heart but we had Hip House in the 80s but it was not marketable. The best of that genre was The Jungle Brothers “Girl I’ll house you”.
💛💛💛appreciate this essential black music history education , love that ALL were clearly credited and the loving dedication of the brothers and sisters at the outro , this was TOP TIER watching , thank you, from Cornwall, UK with love ❤ 🙏🏼💛💛💛
Thank you! Chicago house music went over the sea to UK . And thats house UK Garage started. They took Chicago Jackin' House and 2 step the beat, to create the original Garage sound. I love garage! Cheers
They were playing Euro imports in the 80's in Chicago. The first house record was an 808 4*4 beat record from Italy. And most house cats in this video know ;)
@@Madrrrrrrrrrrr I know whom you are referring to. But, that isnt considered "House" yet, that was disco with experimental electro elements. What we know as "House" and that defining sound, is pure Chicago, period. But, definitely they have all influenced each other.
@@K-ORA nope. The first house record from Italy was not disco and didn't have electro elements. Just a record with rhythm tracks on it with a 4*4 808 beat. But nobody cared about that record and Chicago did.
@@Madrrrrrrrrrrr thats not what I said lol. Read. What is considered by the genre standard - that specific sound is from Chicago. Im not new to this either, and Im not going to split hairs.
I might be 20 yrs removed from Chicago, but @54:11 woman says radio did not support house music... unless im crazy i coulda swore there was B96 and WBMX
idk 20 minutes into this doc and so far it's done a terrible job of showing the origins of rap/Hip Hop in Chicago. Yall did good with the House music aspect, but who was instrumental in starting Chicago's local rap scene (because it aint Phenom)?
Rubber room, The Spot (on Randolph), Spillanies, Hot House (where Tung Twista popped out at least a few times), Monday night open mic at the Elbo Room…there really wasn’t a “local rap scene “….there was a “spoken word scene” that passes for a rap scene today…but there were ALOT of peeps trying hard to establish a hip hop scene … and out south it was. Lounge scene
Exactly! They are trying to do the same for hip hop as well and they released the documentary microphone check to debunk it. Those white Latinos then sabotage the film and added temporarily removed out of movie theaters and off of Amazon because they wanted to sell a false theory of a co-creation for hip hop. I suggest you check out the microphone check documentary
First off, House did not start in Chicago. Records from the 70s were simply mixed and blended in New York by Larry Levine. Frankie, Ron Hardy, the 2 Robert's, all were from New York. Robert came to Chicago first and started the Warehouse, but needed help with the music. Frankie and Ron Hardy decided to come to Chicago and joined forces briefly to help Robert, then Ronnie started the Music Box. The Chosen Few didn't start anything! Everybody is just trying to get notoriety from House music, but it ain't happening! Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy are the fathers of House, PERIOD! All these documentaries are nothing but racist exploitations of our culture! We can't have ANYTHING to ourselves and it's always a younger generation falling for mess like this because they never know the history of anything! Quit falling for this! U need to be on Google trying to figure out hiw ro fight fir reparations for ur people! U don't see no whit people on the dance floor filming no country music and blue grass dancing, in order to make documentaries! I think this may be why The Warehouse was so secretive back in the day! RIP Frankie and Ronnie

Great documentary on the Chicago House & Hip Hop scene & it's roots. Though after watching countless of House Music documentaries, they fail to mention the latino's who were there right with the black culture. We had our thing too, in House, Hip Hop & Latin music. A good to check out is 'Beyond Heaven' by Mario Luna out of Chicago, There are 3 volumes & he saved all the Chicago party flyers from Club & House parties. I couldn't believe how many latino's were involved in the Chicago House scene... It raised a lot of questions but I'm tired of who's the GodFather deal. For me for the record, it's Farley "JackMaster" Funk... He knows why. & as far as latino's, Ralphi Rosario Of The Hot Mix 5.... Nuff said, & once again great doc!! God bless, Manny Cuevas aka DJ M-TRAXXX
Most of the House pioneers grew up group in predominantly Black areas in Chicago. I would be considered a 2nd generation House Head. Class of '88 - I didn't see any Latinos at the basement parties or the high school parties I attended, on the Southside, back in the early to mid 80's. .. If you want to see more Latino participation in documentaries then maybe you or other Latinos should create your own docs! Then you can share your OWN stories. Peace & Blessings🖤
Non black people want undue credit when it comes to black spaces but are actively hostile to black presenting people in non black spaces. We dont owe you shout outs in our culture. Participation is not pioneering. Remember that.

Thank you making this. Hip Hop and House have lifted me up since I was 9. 💖
i love the shots of the beautiful, mature folks dancing in the daytime. wish i was there.

Thank you for this :-) House is my life, it gets me up in the morning, it runs through me during the day and it puts me to sleep at night!!! LOVE
I grew up on both Hip Hop and house. A fan of both genres since the age of 8. I have my bro to thank for that!
Hip House is part of the House music culture

Ok you are invited to the cookout but no more weird comments like that-nobody likes servile reverence outside of church.

I agree. They definitely should've consulted with Kingdom Rock on this. Because Psychodrama Mos definitely should've been mentioned
