Poles can probably learn Latin a lot more naturally than say, English speakers. The vocabulary is very different, but the old Indo-European declension grammar of Slavic languages is shared with Latin. A Romance native speaker would be more familiar with the vocabulary, but the grammar of Latin is actually closer to our type of case based grammar (I speak Slovak that works in the same way) than to modern Romance languages. The pattern of thinking would also be similiar due to the way the languages connect words, so speaking Latin for a Pole would feel more natural than to an English or Chinese speaker for example.
"Imperator" is a sublime success! Gratitude to the entire production staff. The cinematography is elegant, the dialog beautifully composed and plausible, and the courage to film a story of Rome in credibly declaimed Latin should inspire more such projects. Can you tell me what they Say in latin from part 13:30 ?
You don't even know what was Classical Latin accent, but you are sure that a Polish accent is closer to it than an Italian accent. OK.
Nobody really knows, I get it ,but you just need to hear the difference. The Italian latin is heavily influenced by medieval latin. If you see the movie "The Passion" the conversation between Jesus and Pilate you can hear that Jesus speaks a better approach to classical that the roman's Italian accent.
@@ruyaal - We do know pretty well what Classical Latin sounded like. Plenty of vids about it on youtube.
Just so happens that the old Latin vowel values are fairly close to those in modern Polish, which haven’t ‘rotated’ much in centuries.
Super film Panie Konradzie.Pozdrawiamserdecznie.
Optimissime! There should be more of these kinds of films! At least more dubbings of Gladiator.
Excellent production. You don't need great CGI or large battles, but good acting is enough to take you there.
I enjoyed this very much gives life to the Latin language wish there were more movies like this one.
I have no issue reading subtitles. Watching a movie in the language it’s supposed to be in is 100% better. Great production.
I'm learning Classical Latin in school, and I need to improve my verbal skills. It is really hard to find films in Latin that isn't acclesiastical! (I'm SOOOO not spelling that right) I find films like this really helpful! THANK YOU
It's "ecclesiastical," but actually church Latin is called the Vulgate, as compared to Classical, Latin. And I agree with your comment!
Amelia Nannette Do you have a films list. Please hand on! Thank U! Greetings
Beautiful film. Touching, historical, and authentic. Well done.
great movie, makes me even more passionate about learning latin!!
Jak na studenta -- wybitne! Jakby powiedział Kolski -- prawdziwe. Życzę wielu sukcesów!
Excelente producción. Mi sincera felicitación desde Barcelona
Latin is such a noble language. VERY few languages have such nobility. In my humble experience I would list Farsi, Armenian, Sardo and Middle Japanese as the only few that come close.
