  • "Life with Father" is an American comedy film. It tells the true story of Clarence Day, a stockbroker who wants to be master of his house, but finds his wife and his children ignoring him, until they start making demands for him to change his own life. In keeping with the autobiography, all the children in the family (all boys) are redheads. It stars William Powell and Irene Dunne as Clarence and his wife, supported by Elizabeth Taylor as a beautiful teenage girl with whom Clarence's oldest son becomes infatuated, along with Edmund Gwenn, ZaSu Pitts, Jimmy Lydon and Martin Milner.

    i love this movie. POWELL and DUNN were smashing in this.POWELL should have gotten an Oscar for this role. wonderful,

    I love this movie. William Powell always reminded me of my maternal grandfather. A young Elizabeth Taylor and Martin Milner?? awesome!

    Hands down one of my favorite movies of all time. I'm 45. You don't have to be THAT old to love these movies. William Powell...William Fucking Powell. Pardon my french.

      It's kind of funny in its own way just because of how old it is and how outdated a lot of the thinking is compared to today. While a lot of it is just silly, I think what makes this movie hilarious is the ongoing battle between the sexes that has been and always will be present in human history.

    I seen it in 77 with my grandmother I remember saying I can't wait to have my vary own slaves Granny said don't be stupid no one treats slaves like that and made me watch roots needless to say I no longer felt the same she was always setting things closer to truth
