      @@Virakotxa that is not nitpicky at all, I am trying to learn better techniques for my voice overs. It is the one thing that truly bugs me in when making a video.
      I hate my own voice, and if you look back at older videos you can see how varied the voice overs are due to me trying all sorts of different things lol.
      Hopefully I will find a happy medium, I do find it funny when I record myself and I am trying to make myself sound happier or angry but when I play it back I am so monotone hahaha.

    Games Workshop should embrace this trend. Unlike the poor execution of Metallica against their own fan base, because of copyright. In this case Games Workshop should (EMBRACE IT - INCITE IT - LEAD IT) make their own 8K 3D printer, (PAY-HAMMER Printer) for their stores. Have a two tier hobby. "Base" army sets. Sold in boxes - starter packs and cost effective bundles. But then PAY-HAMMER the more exotic models, and customizations for their war leader and other special units. Pay-To-Win or Pay-To-Customize. The box set should come with a Internal scratch and win QR code for one complimentary PAY-HAMMER 3d print... like a WarLord or Heavy Support. Therefore all sold generic-pre-bundled-armies, get one highly customized model, to help distinguish that bundled army from other low cost bundled armies. This exposes the customer to the extremely nice experience of getting something special. In addition, the box for that custom PAY-HAMMER is also printed. Folded, assembled and all inserts / transfers / special terrain markers / options ... and other "goodies" are included in the box, along with the PAY-HAMMER custom.

    Hi Nates!
    Im sure you get asked this alot but is 3d printing safe?
    I bought a printer and even though I opened all windows in my house and closed the printer with its case, the entire house smelled bad and im really worried
    I poured all the contents of the resin vat back to the bottle and cleaned everything and it took hours for the smell to go away
    Im really scared of printing again as I know the fumes are toxic
    Do you think putting a fan facing the printer near a window will be enough to not have it again?

    • @NatesMiniatures
      @NatesMiniatures  8 месяцев назад +1

      It is a very good idea to have an open airflow from a door being open and a window (try not to get direct UV light onto your printer though) with a fan in the swaying motion to get air flowing in your room.
      I would also consider an air purifier to reduce those smells. I want loads of people to 3D print but I won't lie to you, it is toxic and every precaution is needed when printing.
      But I would not be scared of it either mate, as long as you have the proper airflow you will be sweet.

    Likely not the case for you as you live in a hot country, but my supports would fail if the room temperature was too cool. Below 20C and I would find rafts with supports but no model. If the resin is too viscous, it won't flow back quick enough during the lift. You can also slow the lift speed to allow the resin to fill the voids more thoroughly. Originally, I tried thicker supports but still had the same problem, but hot resin and slow lifts solved it. That said, you are probably right that your supports were too thin for the models being lost.

    • @NatesMiniatures
      @NatesMiniatures  6 месяцев назад +1

      It is true I live in a warmer climate, so 3D printing can be great for us Aussies. The profile I was running was a quick one, and probably had too much force on the thin tips of the supports.

    • @NatesMiniatures
      @NatesMiniatures  8 месяцев назад +3

      That is fair, good ventilation and making sure you ALWAYS wear nitril gloves and a fask mask. But having pets run in and out I understand that, best to wait for the technology to evolve or have a dedicated space where you can keep others out when printing.

    • @rogthepirate4593
      @rogthepirate4593 7 месяцев назад +1

      As long as you have a separate room for it that is well-ventilated there should be no reason tro be scared of it - even with regular resin. It's toxic when it gets into (prolonged, but better to be avoided altogether) contact with skin or ingested. As long as you take appropriate measures to avoid that (which is easy enough), you're completely fine.
      But yeah, especially with pets, having a space you can close off to them is of utmost importance, because you can obviously not make them take those measures.

    Nates! Do a video about scanning and printing an entire original sprue. Then we’ll talk. #ethicalprinting

    • @NatesMiniatures
      @NatesMiniatures  7 месяцев назад +2

      People have done that before, not sure how that would go for printing with all the support work as well. So why would you want the sprue included in the printing process?. Wouldn't it be easier to just print the actual miniature? not to mention less print times as some sprues are huge and you would have to use most of the build plate and would max out the Z axis on a resin printer.
      I think the only way you can do that without having to buy a very expensive big printer would be to FDM print it and that would lose the details. So at the end of the day I am not sure including the sprue would be worth wild because you would disgard that and create more e waste.
      At least with a plastic sprue you could recycle it in theory, and make a new sprue with injection moulding process but not so much with the resin printing process.

    • @mottie85
      @mottie85 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@NatesMiniaturesThanks for your detailed response. I still wouldn’t want to remove the original pieces from the sprue if possible. Also, I enjoy modeling, and converting, so I personally wouldn’t want to print the whole mini. Scan the whole/part of the sprue (with model pieces) then manipulate the image with (CAD?) software and supports for the printer, even if that means printing pieces of a sprue at one time. Preserve the original mold. Use software magic for efficiency with the printer. Feasible?

    • @NatesMiniatures
      @NatesMiniatures  7 месяцев назад +2

      @@mottie85 yeah it can all be possible, I personally don't dislike Games Workshop products and would find myself buying from them. And in the future I will lean more away from printing 1:1 models and move towards other creators that sculpt proxies in our niche.
      This way I can help in some way by directing people to these creators and hopefully we can grow stronger for it.
      It is fun being sneaky and being able to get GW at home with a press of a button, in fact I would say a huge amount of their range for 40k is easily obtained with some searching.
      Preserving history is something I like to do as well, I collect Play Station 1 PAL games in hard copy form. I just enjoy having the CD of the game and booklet there.

  • @auretioustaak6579
    @auretioustaak6579 9 месяцев назад

    I am genuinely surprised GW haven't stumbled upon this and thrown their legal team at you yet.
    Throughout the video you reference the stl creators as 'talented artists' but it's like you don't understand that 3d scanners exist and are getting better and better and people are not sculpting copies but just outright scanning and converting the scans to stl files so you get a 100% or there abouts, accurate copy of an actual GW sculpt. Your votaan and tyranids look pretty damn close to the originals. These may be "proxies" to you, but GW don't view it that way and it's why so many of the 'creators' have round about ways to try and hide their stl files and why it is so hard to find them at times. If they weren't knowingly doing stuff they could get absolutely shafted over then they wouldn't need to hide the 'sculpts' would they?
    So a word of caution, because whilst I have no problems with it, some people do take huge issue with actual scanned and printed models.
    At the end of the day, the difference between a 3d print and a GW (or otherwise) model, is visually non-existant once an undercoat is applied.
    Nice video, I couldn't find those tyranid files though would be interested (a lot of the stl's if accurate scans not genuinely created 3d models, are a perfect and affordable way to print up parts to repair models that are broken etc without needing to fork out ridiculous money because GW doesn't have an inbuilt parts service.
    GW need to find a way to embrace 3d printing to stay profitable in the long term off of their models, because 3d scanning means at best, even without access to stl files, you only need a decent scan and prints et up and 1 of each kit produced by GW to have limitless kits for significantly cheaper. How they do this, well best of luck to them to figure out, but 3d printing is essentially recasting on a scale that most people can't even fathom.
