Nice breakdown, thanks. My big problem is that both of my Brother in Laws now have Pro R's. I have driven both of them, which has ruined me for my older XP Turbo. The Pro R is an unbelievable machine, the power, handling, suspension and comfort is amazing!! My problem is in convincing my wife that we need one!!
Oh that's an easy one. Tell her it was on sale and tell her how much money you saved and if that doesn't work then tell her "it matched your shoes" she'll understand. As backup though, make sure your dog house has parking that will fit a ProR...
They are incredible machines. I love my polaris. It is really dependent on what you like to do though. For trails and rock crawling the Kawasaki Terrx is the best machine on the market for that hands down and the suspension is incredible on the live valve system. Kawasaki really did their research designing it to be honest. But for all around best of both scenarios Polaris has the market for sure!
Both of these machines are incredible. I’ve had the pleasure of running both of them out at Glamis, but I have to say that Maverick R is an absolute beast! Not having to worry about breaking belts or letting them cool down is a big bonus and gives it that upper hand. Both rigs are extremely powerful and capable though. I’m just hoping Polaris gives us a turbo’d Pro R straight from the factory 😎
Thanks! Wife and I got a place in PHX to be close for Daughter Visits and I want to get a Maverick R and be able to go to Glamis for a couple days! I am thinking the next three weeks are going to be it!
I'm unbiased, have owned both of the prior gen machines, and found choosing between these 2 a difficult decision. I'm picking a Pro R based mainly on very poor fit/finish of the Maverick R. I've seen too many videos of people losing trim pieces and the BRP has been slow to resolve this. Both suspensions are incredible and the tall knuckle doesn't bother me, modern 1/2 tons have been running similar designs, albeit hidden better, for over a decade. Powertrains are a tossup. I know the Mav accelerates better, if only marginally, but the Pro R's displacement and CVT makes it more flexible for technical crawling. In the dunes both machines would be a tossup. The one aspect of the Maverick R i'll miss is sitting closer to the vehicles Center of Gravity (COG). I found this very confidence inspiring, when you're really pushing it hard in the twisty dune trails you get advanced notice before a tire lifts. The Pro R's higher seating position has other advantages (better sight lines) but it's going to take me longer to find its limit. Only Pro R gripe is premature failures of cast inner primary clutch sheave. Hope Polaris upgrades this oversight, when it fails the repair is prohiibitively expensive. The aftermarket has addressed this concern with a billet piece but it's an extra grand when Polaris should just resolve the quality issue. I'm choosing Pro R over Turbo R based on the massive upgraded clutches alone and reports of great belt life on a heavy car.
Must have been Mav owners that don't care or cant drive. Cause EVERYONE in my group, plus the many owners have never had any of the issues that you have said. I'm assuming that you are just justifying your purchase to yourself.
Polaris would be wise offering two versions of the Pro R for 2025. First would be the n/a version with the regular 2025 updates, the second should be a factory turbo version. I think they need to be looking into an optional DCT transmission as well. Competition is always a good thing!
They have been testing a turbo pro r for 2 years. The engine works great with a turbo, I have ran mine for 2k miles with a turbo on psi pump gas with zero issues.
I’m glad i seen this video, I was leaning towards the Maverick until now. I used and worked on polaris in the military and It solidified my mind to know that the USArmy made a good decision to purchase Polaris, and so shall I.
Let’s go Pat! Great video. I sell/am passionate Polaris and am sharing this with the rest of the sales team. Need more of these across other segments too. Thank you.
Neither a Polaris or Can Am guy but I have rode/drove both. That being said, these are supposed to be pure sport UTVs. In that sense, the Maverick R has the RZR R crushed. The Can Am has a lower seating position and doesn't feel like you're riding in a pickup truck like the RZR does. The Maverick R handling is like a sports car the RZR R is again like a truck. Maverick is faster and the wider track means you can take tighter corners faster. The Maverick was created to race, the RZR was created to make it easier to talk your wife into because it looks like you could toss a bale of hay in the back end. Polaris missed the mark for what the RZR R is supposed to be, pure sport, not sport/utilitarian which is what it is in current form. Until Polaris lowers their seating positions and lowers the roof line they will never compete with the Maverick R......OR even the Yamaha YXZ1000R with a GYTR turbo and long travel suspension added which Ironically is actually more affordable even with the performance additions to make it competitive. Oh, one more tip for RZR, ditch the belt tranny for a real transmission if you want to make a pure sport machine. I felt like Polaris cut some corners in designing the RZR R.
Have noticed far more Polaris roll overs in the heated dirt races on tracks with sharp turns. The extra width on the Maverick does appear to help with stability when jockeying for position. When they get to beatin and bangin wheels together on the tracks it can get really wild.
I have to admit when the maverick r first came out I considered buying one until I did a little more research on it and found out there was way too many things I do not like still. Versus the pro r there is only one thing that I am not real crazy about and that is the cage. I like the style of it, but it is just too tall.
You lost me when you said you’re a Polaris employee. Polaris has the absolute worst customer service I have ever seen. I just put a new crate motor in my sportsman 850, 38 hours on the motor… after a broken crank in the “non warranty” factory motor. I’m now $8000 into a new factor motor with 38 hours and Polaris says.. sorry about your luck. Dealer feels the motor issues were caused by factory issues. Polaris won’t reimburse dealer for any labor fees. I’m now responsible for $1500+ in labor on a new crate engine with less then 38 hours
I feel like with the particle separator on the maverick r along with adding spare tire and then having to add a particle separator and a spare tire on the turbo r, either way you’ll be reliant on the rear view camera.
Love the Vids. Can we see an audio upgrade video. Rzr pro R Stock level 2 vs upgraded level 5. Definitely could benefit hearing the difference side by side.
By the way, I was at King Of The Hammers 2024 and I wanted to see how badass the pro R was on the King Of The Hammers race they didn’t even qualified. The Maverick are the race what happened to PR
Great review! I own a pro R and I will add a Mav R to my fleet. However. Ill say that the pro R is a superior machine. Although I do enjoy both cars. However I do feel the Pro R is superior for now.
Pro R 4 Ultimate owner here and I can confirm if you run the bottom A Arm into a boulder it will rip off lol. This was total driver error not a machine problem.
I have a 24 pro r 4 ultimate, I’m in love with this machine, having some issues with my ride command and Polaris is promising me an update any day that might fix it 🤞. I really enjoyed the video, only one issue I have is, pointing out the tire rub on the arm but the tires still had the rubber hairs on side wall 🤔. I think that would have rubbed off if it was rubbing. Anyway, I hope Polaris will fix my gps issue soon. Thank you for reading.
If you’re having GPS issue back update it to the Ride Command May update which has the GPS bug update then update it again to the August update and that should solve your problem!
Cool comparo. Both are waaaay to wide for my area. The one MAJOR upgrade the Mav has over the Pro... The transmission. Aside from that, they're pretty much two pears from the same tree.
i own a pro r I would say my main complaint is is the shifter is terrible compared to the Can Am which is more of a gated shifter beside that it's amazing
Im a polaris guy but ... Mileage on 1 tank isnt even comparable ... can am runs a lot longer. Polaris MAYBE 90 miles, can am, 120+ ... thats 33% more!! Long days we gotta stop for fuel ... sucks. Can Am guys just wait on us.
I have 500 miles on my Maverick R. I am a Polaris guy and after 50 years of riding snowmobiles there was no way I was going to buy a machine with a power robbing belt blowing CVT. I first purchased a Talon and usually never used the automatic mode. I’m the same way with the Maverick R. I tried the automatic mode on the sand and trails and went back to shifting. I just need a light when I hit the rev limiter. It’s hard to hear in the Maverick R.
Is this a Polaris ad or what? When you say "We"ve done" xyz when talking about the Polaris - you know your getting a biased opinion. I have both a Pro Xp and an X3. I absolutely detest the "Click 6" harnesses. You have about 4 lbs of metal buckles that are a PITA to adjust and they continually get wedged in the door. The single retractor is like a Rube Goldberg contraption that sort of defeats the purpose of even having a retractable harness. Both great macines - not quit as lop sided as this makes it seem.
Sorry but Ive owned and own both these machines and the Mav r is 10 times the machine granite there isn’t a lot of upgrades other then tuning and running higher octane but hopefully someone starts getting some internals and bigger turbo kits coming…. This is classic Polaris paid for by Polaris video…. The rzr are a soap box on legs they are just ugly…. My buddy has a brand new x3 turbo rr he is selling it to get an r now lol….
The R is so much more than the Pro R when compared with performance. Having driven both the Mav R is just, better. I would expect nothing less from a Polaris guy. This is what's called damage control. Polaris knows that they are getting beat by sales alone. Let's see when Polaris comes out with their new platform. Cause we know that they are next for a sequential trans. To be honest, this is a cringy video.
I couldn’t agree more. Brp is out selling everybody with the x3 plate form by its self. Same machine since 2017 and it works better than anything out. And the mav r is a monster. Both machines are over priced. I think Polaris needs to move machines lol.
@@wraith511802003 I agree....I like the ease of maintenance/repair on the Polaris Vs the Mav. I can easily (or let's say I have successfully) R&R a Polaris gearcase (split the case, made repairs, reassembled) without the use of the dealer or paid mechanic. I don't think I would, nor most owners, be successful in that endeavor with the DCT. My one and only issue with the Pro R (besides the shear weight and size) is the belt drive location. I have had and will never have again, a car with a belt behind/under a seat....no way, no how! Polaris still got my money....just in the Turbo R!
For one thing when you rock, climbing or rock crawling, your left foot is on the break. It has got a belt driven and the suspension on the Maverick car is completely different than the Razor and it handles better on the corners. I mean you could chew down the Maverick all you want but you own a Razor so it doesn’t make sense what you’re doing there

You had me at “you are a Polaris guy.” That’s all I needed to hear.
Whether Polaris like it or not, Maverick R is a game changer!
How so?
Both are game changers
I'm a Polaris guy too - I have heard/read Can Am has a fit & finish issue especially with their plastics (you touch on this a little). Thoughts?
Respect for letting us know that your a official Polaris guy 💯
I’m glad i seen this video, I was leaning towards the Maverick until now. I used and worked on polaris in the military and It solidified my mind to know that the USArmy made a good decision to purchase Polaris, and so shall I.

I prefer the seating position of Can-Am over Polaris...
Seating in my pro r is what sold me. I have friends that love can am Seating position.
With all the rigs out I would get the X3. Lighter quicker and great suspension. Also cost less.
X3 is lighter , gets excellent fuel economy compared to these two, but is not built near as stout ,
I’ve had quite a bit of them. Pro R and Mav R are nothing like it. More expensive forsure but worth it imo
Pat going into the lions den!
Both great vehicles… But for my money… It’s Maverick R. Hoping to have my unit in the next few months. Can’t wait to Drift it and hit a jump or two.
I have to admit when the maverick r first came out I considered buying one until I did a little more research on it and found out there was way too many things I do not like still. “A little biased”
That’s the most biased review of anything I have ever seen
Maverick R looks awesome
how’s the stock cages on these are they better than the old body styles cages i know they crumble with ease

I'll second that, but viper shifter fixed it big. Shouldn't have to.
Great review! I own a pro R and I will add a Mav R to my fleet. However. Ill say that the pro R is a superior machine. Although I do enjoy both cars. However I do feel the Pro R is superior for now.
The seats in the can-am are very comfortable. The seats in my new pro-R feel like the same material that came In my rZR 1000

Easy decision for me since I want a 4 seater
You can buy a 2025 Maverick R Max now
Polaris fan boy here but honestly the mav r completely dominates the Polaris. I just bought a mav r today shocker I know.
I hope polaris comes out with the same trans as canam mavr.

king of hammers 2024... But i am biased 😂
Polaris needs to bring out a factory turbo model or their patented automated sequential to stay relevant for top dog .
The MavR cage is criminally unsafe.
Do tell
lol it’s the same factory cage as a X3 which has been the safest factory cage for awhile now until the Pro R came out

dont we all
What a joke of a review from a Polaris guy 😂 I have a RZR - I will be purchasing a maverick R 4 seater next year
New pro RR turbo
Good video, but it's definitely biased
you are getting into the maverick wrong that's why...
Polaris needs to follow suit with a dual clutch transmission.
What for? The CVT works fine for 99% of the owners. It is the tiny percent of misuse an or modders that have issues.

Un biased. Like Switzerland 😂
put 37 inch tires on the can am
I will admit, the Pro R cage holds up 😐
Who runs a stock cage anyway. It's always the first thing that gets changed.
Until polaris uses a real transmission ill never own one
Nahhhhhhhh. The mav r is next gen. I sold my pro r due to lack of top end an d I hated the loud vibration noise the rzr had.
So ones made for racing, ones made for drinking
Why be bias? That's A D-bag move and not a review.

No worries, next week the Democrats will band them or make them electric only
lol just a little bias
Maverick designers should be fired
