Nice breakdown, thanks. My big problem is that both of my Brother in Laws now have Pro R's. I have driven both of them, which has ruined me for my older XP Turbo. The Pro R is an unbelievable machine, the power, handling, suspension and comfort is amazing!! My problem is in convincing my wife that we need one!!

Oh that's an easy one. Tell her it was on sale and tell her how much money you saved and if that doesn't work then tell her "it matched your shoes" she'll understand. As backup though, make sure your dog house has parking that will fit a ProR...

They are incredible machines. I love my polaris. It is really dependent on what you like to do though. For trails and rock crawling the Kawasaki Terrx is the best machine on the market for that hands down and the suspension is incredible on the live valve system. Kawasaki really did their research designing it to be honest. But for all around best of both scenarios Polaris has the market for sure!

Both of these machines are incredible. I’ve had the pleasure of running both of them out at Glamis, but I have to say that Maverick R is an absolute beast! Not having to worry about breaking belts or letting them cool down is a big bonus and gives it that upper hand. Both rigs are extremely powerful and capable though. I’m just hoping Polaris gives us a turbo’d Pro R straight from the factory 😎

I'm unbiased, have owned both of the prior gen machines, and found choosing between these 2 a difficult decision.
I'm picking a Pro R based mainly on very poor fit/finish of the Maverick R. I've seen too many videos of people losing trim pieces and the BRP has been slow to resolve this. Both suspensions are incredible and the tall knuckle doesn't bother me, modern 1/2 tons have been running similar designs, albeit hidden better, for over a decade. Powertrains are a tossup. I know the Mav accelerates better, if only marginally, but the Pro R's displacement and CVT makes it more flexible for technical crawling. In the dunes both machines would be a tossup. The one aspect of the Maverick R i'll miss is sitting closer to the vehicles Center of Gravity (COG). I found this very confidence inspiring, when you're really pushing it hard in the twisty dune trails you get advanced notice before a tire lifts. The Pro R's higher seating position has other advantages (better sight lines) but it's going to take me longer to find its limit.
Only Pro R gripe is premature failures of cast inner primary clutch sheave. Hope Polaris upgrades this oversight, when it fails the repair is prohiibitively expensive. The aftermarket has addressed this concern with a billet piece but it's an extra grand when Polaris should just resolve the quality issue. I'm choosing Pro R over Turbo R based on the massive upgraded clutches alone and reports of great belt life on a heavy car.

    • @patbramble8958
      @patbramble8958 9 месяцев назад +1

Must have been Mav owners that don't care or cant drive. Cause EVERYONE in my group, plus the many owners have never had any of the issues that you have said. I'm assuming that you are just justifying your purchase to yourself.

Polaris would be wise offering two versions of the Pro R for 2025. First would be the n/a version with the regular 2025 updates, the second should be a factory turbo version. I think they need to be looking into an optional DCT transmission as well. Competition is always a good thing!

Neither a Polaris or Can Am guy but I have rode/drove both. That being said, these are supposed to be pure sport UTVs. In that sense, the Maverick R has the RZR R crushed. The Can Am has a lower seating position and doesn't feel like you're riding in a pickup truck like the RZR does. The Maverick R handling is like a sports car the RZR R is again like a truck. Maverick is faster and the wider track means you can take tighter corners faster.
The Maverick was created to race, the RZR was created to make it easier to talk your wife into because it looks like you could toss a bale of hay in the back end.
Polaris missed the mark for what the RZR R is supposed to be, pure sport, not sport/utilitarian which is what it is in current form. Until Polaris lowers their seating positions and lowers the roof line they will never compete with the Maverick R......OR even the Yamaha YXZ1000R with a GYTR turbo and long travel suspension added which Ironically is actually more affordable even with the performance additions to make it competitive.
Oh, one more tip for RZR, ditch the belt tranny for a real transmission if you want to make a pure sport machine.
I felt like Polaris cut some corners in designing the RZR R.

Have noticed far more Polaris roll overs in the heated dirt races on tracks with sharp turns. The extra width on the Maverick does appear to help with stability when jockeying for position. When they get to beatin and bangin wheels together on the tracks it can get really wild.

You lost me when you said you’re a Polaris employee. Polaris has the absolute worst customer service I have ever seen. I just put a new crate motor in my sportsman 850, 38 hours on the motor… after a broken crank in the “non warranty” factory motor. I’m now $8000 into a new factor motor with 38 hours and Polaris says.. sorry about your luck. Dealer feels the motor issues were caused by factory issues. Polaris won’t reimburse dealer for any labor fees. I’m now responsible for $1500+ in labor on a new crate engine with less then 38 hours

I really enjoyed the video, only one issue I have is, pointing out the tire rub on the arm but the tires still had the rubber hairs on side wall 🤔. I first purchased a Talon and usually never used the automatic mode. I’m the same way with the Maverick R. I tried the automatic mode on the sand and trails and went back to shifting. I just need a light when I hit the rev limiter. It’s hard to hear in the Maverick R.

Is this a Polaris ad or what? When you say "We"ve done" xyz when talking about the Polaris - you know your getting a biased opinion. I have both a Pro Xp and an X3. I absolutely detest the "Click 6" harnesses. You have about 4 lbs of metal buckles that are a PITA to adjust and they continually get wedged in the door. The single retractor is like a Rube Goldberg contraption that sort of defeats the purpose of even having a retractable harness. Both great macines - not quit as lop sided as this makes it seem.

The R is so much more than the Pro R when compared with performance. Having driven both the Mav R is just, better. I would expect nothing less from a Polaris guy. This is what's called damage control. Polaris knows that they are getting beat by sales alone. Let's see when Polaris comes out with their new platform. Cause we know that they are next for a sequential trans. To be honest, this is a cringy video.

@@wraith511802003 I agree....I like the ease of maintenance/repair on the Polaris Vs the Mav. I can easily (or let's say I have successfully) R&R a Polaris gearcase (split the case, made repairs, reassembled) without the use of the dealer or paid mechanic. I don't think I would, nor most owners, be successful in that endeavor with the DCT. My one and only issue with the Pro R (besides the shear weight and size) is the belt drive location. I have had and will never have again, a car with a belt behind/under a seat....no way, no how!
