Playstation created their own problem here. They have a handful of days to actually roll back their decision (similar to how Wizards of the coast had to roll back their licensing requirement, and that one company providing the development software to all of its buyers originally stating that they would charge for each new install - instead of just taking the money from the developer seat licenses which had sustained its own operations up to that point). The console players are saying that the PC players should suck it up. Meanwhile PC players who care about their data aren't having any of that. Linking accounts is a bad idea if you can't keep YOUR side of the link secure. Then there's the data collection, the pandering that they'll do to sell additional Playstation titles, the space it'll take up on the computer, how the software will interact with your operating system (the fact that it hasn't been necessary), AND that you can be controlled by Sony, even though you purchased it on Steam; potentially being banned and getting unlicensed for whatever behaviors are deemed unacceptable in your game play. I say no to all of that. And I say no to multiplayer games in general because of the occasional toxicity found in the player base (this time from the console players calling PC owners babies), and as to how developers try to prevent piracy and cheating. Look - I play a game to have fun. Sure, I might be an asshat and try to go against the precepts of the game (in HD2, this is where you would not be the best mate in a drop) - but if I have to be moderated by Sony? No sir.
