This is great. Don’t often see the head cam footage from the business end of races, and the voiceover commentary explaining the thought process as the kms go by was really insightful. Excellent.

Nice touch adding in the Omer radio interview to finish! I saw you both at Speedway 10k earlier this year, him racing (and not going wrong that day), you and Kelly spectating and doing the livestream. I said "I'm a fan" & "All in baby" which I regretted as I immediately thought I sounded like an arse when I said it. 🤦🏻♂️ But I do really enjoy your videos, best of luck for Berlin. I'm giving sub 2:30 a crack at Yorkshire. 😬 Hopefully at some point we'll share a start line.

Great video Matt. Really liked the head cam footage and the fact you commentated over it afterwards was fantastic, gave a great insight to everything. I know I've said this before but you are the unsung hero of the RUclips running vloggers. The Kante/Makelele...or maybe in your case a Joe Allen! You deserve many more views, you give great insightful info and some really useful technical info on running, how to improve and everything surrounding that. Some of the others seem to do massive, massive numbers and their content is nowhere near the level of what you produce. Appreciate the videos as I can see they're probably not worth your time financially considering all the editing time that goes into them. Best of luck in Berlin.
Poor Omar! Did you notice though that the marshal was saying ‘10k runners to the right’ but that was his right, our left!! Very confusing! I did the half for the 4th time - loved it. Well done on your podium finish 💪💪
Yeah I feel sorry for Omar. It was confusing. I feel like they needed a sign like they had at decision point 2.

Wow! What an excellent footage! Loved this race vlog. Congratulations on the stupendous performance! This is what you're great at mate - bouncing back after a setback! Its also very brave of you to do a race all in style a week before your main Marathon!!

Amazing running.wow!!! I also did the 10k. Absolutely loved it, my first ever race and I’m also from and live in Bristol. Amazing atmosphere. Shame yours wasn’t a bit later start like mine as there were loads of people supporting.. glad you will be back to Bristol for another one 👍

With the footage, now i understood how Omar messed up and went to the HM course.
Dude prepped for 10k race, accidentally went to HM course, but "what gives, lets full send" and finished first lel. Legend

I ran the Bristol half on Sunday in a pb of 1h 32 such an amazing event with a great atmosphere loved it congrats on getting on the podium incredible effort not an easy course that 10k route with a few hills and cobbled pavements 😅

That was great. Really good format. Love hearing you talk through your strategy as you went. Far prefer this hat mounted thing to the hand held vlog style that some runners use during races - that sometimes feels quite rude to the other competitors. Thanks for taking us along.

If you want a fast 10km, half or marathon you should come and race in the Christchurch Marathon in April! Anyway thanks again for your great footage and well done again 👊
Great result, liked the style of talking through the race and thoughts along the route. Seems harsh to disqualify him as it wasn’t any shorter distance, and the split looked confusing especially at his pace and being in front. Good luck in Berlin will be an amazing experience 🏃🏻♂️👍💯

It was a bit confusing and I was double checking I had it right. It should have been easy to direct the first runner in the right direction. A shame but Omar is a great character and will be back.

I'll be doing what you did many years ago. Running 6 stage to qualify for nationals and then the week after London Marathon lol.

Best way to race pressure free and very positive. So same attitude as last Sunday, enjoy it and what happens on race day happens. But give it your all and leave it all out there and see what you best delivers

Really enjoyed this, and as others have said it gives an insight on how the races are at the front end of races where more tactics come into it. Do you plan to use the camera for Berlin at all?

Great run and video: Good idea to take us through the race. Might think about getting one of these although am not much of a hat wearer normally LOL. Clearly can’t have slowed you down wearing it? BTW think the DNF was the only real fair outcome to the “proper” HM runners. Would Thommo have followed his pace if he thought he was actually racing him and that is the problem I think.
Yeah, that’s a good point Tim. Thommo ran a 67, well within himself and was awarded the win after Omar’s disqualification.
Thanks Tim. Glad you enjoyed the style of vlog. The camera is so light that it certainly doesn't slow you down. I don't always race in a cap though so have to consider whether to take it along on future races.
I am torn on the Omar thing but agree with your points. I fell into a debate on Facebook with some people criticising the other half marathon runners. I made the same point as you that they did not know they were racing Omar which makes it very difficult to predict what would have happened if they had known. Thommo is faster on paper and perhaps would have gone with it.

Insta360 Go 2. I was impressed with the video. Audio was awful but I expected that.
What’s your opinion on the Omar DQ Matt?
I’m torn to be honest. My gut feeling is that I feel sorry for him because it was a tremendous run and so unlucky to go the wrong way.
On the other hand I totally understand that the runners in the Half Marathon were not racing him as they knew he was in the 10K race. I think the only runner capable of beating Omar was Thommo in this case.
I can understand why he was disqualified but it does feel harsh too. I’m glad I didn’t have to make the decision. Omar took it really well though and will be back to win plenty more races in future.
Why don't people wear their club vests anymore?!
I wore my club vest in the 2 races before this. I prefer the quality of Soar or Nike for racing. I wear my club vest when I am representing my club. I think many people are the same.
@@TheWelshRunner It seems to be a growing trend unfortunately. With us a club record won't count if you're not wearing a club vest.
@@mrrob6730 What about if one of your members was representing their county, region or even nation?
@@TimGrose Then it's at the discretion of the committee. In those cases I'm sure it would count!
