This is great. Don’t often see the head cam footage from the business end of races, and the voiceover commentary explaining the thought process as the kms go by was really insightful. Excellent.
Oh hello? Open the RUclips app and a new video appears 😀 fantastic mate, really enjoyed the race you did but also I find this insta provides such a better angle to watch, gives the viewer a much better perspective of the race! Well done mate, onwards and upwards!!
Well done Matt!!! Thanks for the cracking video. Great camera footage and commentary. Really felt like I was racing with you. Enjoy Berlin mate, really hope you smash it!!!!!
Nice touch adding in the Omer radio interview to finish! I saw you both at Speedway 10k earlier this year, him racing (and not going wrong that day), you and Kelly spectating and doing the livestream. I said "I'm a fan" & "All in baby" which I regretted as I immediately thought I sounded like an arse when I said it. 🤦🏻♂️ But I do really enjoy your videos, best of luck for Berlin. I'm giving sub 2:30 a crack at Yorkshire. 😬 Hopefully at some point we'll share a start line.
Thanks for the support. Really appreciate it and glad you enjoy the vlogs. I run along with a camera and shout All In…who’s the real arse here 🤣? Good luck in Yorkshire. I really hope you crack it.
Great video Matt. Really liked the head cam footage and the fact you commentated over it afterwards was fantastic, gave a great insight to everything. I know I've said this before but you are the unsung hero of the RUclips running vloggers. The Kante/Makelele...or maybe in your case a Joe Allen! You deserve many more views, you give great insightful info and some really useful technical info on running, how to improve and everything surrounding that. Some of the others seem to do massive, massive numbers and their content is nowhere near the level of what you produce. Appreciate the videos as I can see they're probably not worth your time financially considering all the editing time that goes into them. Best of luck in Berlin.
Poor Omar! Did you notice though that the marshal was saying ‘10k runners to the right’ but that was his right, our left!! Very confusing! I did the half for the 4th time - loved it. Well done on your podium finish 💪💪
Yeah I feel sorry for Omar. It was confusing. I feel like they needed a sign like they had at decision point 2. I loved the race and the whole event vibe. Glad you had fun.
This was fantastic Matt!! I really enjoyed the commentary during the race as well as the camera footage. And the Omar commentary at the end was just epic. I laughed so hard
Thanks James. Great that you enjoyed the vlog and the different format. Thanks for the comment. Kelly phoned me up and told me to turn on Radio 1 and there was Omar recounting his race.
Great footage and well done on the 3rd place 💪🏻🥉. It’s one of your best vlogs, and right up there with the FOD runner / Lydney lakes ‘head to heads’ during lockdown 😎😁.
Good job Matt💪🏻 With the footage, now i understood how Omar messed up and went to the HM course. Dude prepped for 10k race, accidentally went to HM course, but "what gives, lets full send" and finished first lel. Legend
Wow! What an excellent footage! Loved this race vlog. Congratulations on the stupendous performance! This is what you're great at mate - bouncing back after a setback! Its also very brave of you to do a race all in style a week before your main Marathon!! Your commentary on this vlog was spot on, good to see Andy featuring in yours 🤟 All the best for the upcoming Marathons, it'd be great to see your choice of kit, taper ideas and how you spend the day before the race etc. Looking forward to your next one! Rest well and Keep Being Awesome! PS: Interesting thumbnail image for this video with 2 of you running out of the blue - quite literally 👏
Thanks Sandeep. Glad you enjoyed this one. It was a really fun race to be part of. I am planning a pre-race vlog so thanks for the suggestions on what you would like to see.
This is epic. Great way to show the race and explain your thoughts and how you kicked ass. Well done, Matt! Next time I'm bursting past a couple of grey haired ladies in a 10k I'm going to try to look all composed as I scream, "later, losers! " that'll really get in their heads. I might even beat them this time 😎
I ran the Bristol half on Sunday in a pb of 1h 32 such an amazing event with a great atmosphere loved it congrats on getting on the podium incredible effort not an easy course that 10k route with a few hills and cobbled pavements 😅
Great result, liked the style of talking through the race and thoughts along the route. Seems harsh to disqualify him as it wasn’t any shorter distance, and the split looked confusing especially at his pace and being in front. Good luck in Berlin will be an amazing experience 🏃🏻♂️👍💯
Thanks Paul. Good to hear you liked this format. It was a bit confusing and I was double checking I had it right. It should have been easy to direct the first runner in the right direction. A shame but Omar is a great character and will be back.
Amazing running.wow!!! I also did the 10k. Absolutely loved it, my first ever race and I’m also from and live in Bristol. Amazing atmosphere. Shame yours wasn’t a bit later start like mine as there were loads of people supporting.. glad you will be back to Bristol for another one 👍
I'll be doing what you did many years ago. Running 6 stage to qualify for nationals and then the week after London Marathon lol. Anyways congratulations on 3rd place, strong running as always. Go enjoy Berlin and believe in yourself and all the training you have done for the ultra runs will have payed off. You got this 👏🏿👍🏿💪🏿
Go plan Chez. Road relays are a great tune up before London. Well done in Bristol. Great running. I’m excited for Berlin. I feel very little pressure and am looking forward to giving it a good crack.
@@TheWelshRunner Thanks mate was a good tough race, good to beat the team mates too. Best way to race pressure free and very positive. So same attitude as last Sunday, enjoy it and what happens on race day happens. But give it your all and leave it all out there and see what you best delivers
Fantastic video Matt. Really enjoyed the race footage and commentary. Great insight into your run and the event. It's reassuring to know that even right at the front you have some of the same thoughts and feelings during the race as us mid-pack runners!
That was great. Really good format. Love hearing you talk through your strategy as you went. Far prefer this hat mounted thing to the hand held vlog style that some runners use during races - that sometimes feels quite rude to the other competitors. Thanks for taking us along.
Brilliant stuff Matt👌so great to see and hear your race, it is really inspiring. I'm thinking of getting back into running and doing some races. If you want a fast 10km, half or marathon you should come and race in the Christchurch Marathon in April! Anyway thanks again for your great footage and well done again 👊
Very impressive strong mental attitude through out the race especially when the demons 👿 are screaming at you to slow down . Good fortitude for Berlin . And good luck
Great race report. I love the video you captured of the course. It was interesting to see the layout of the race and how you were feeling while running it. Congrats on a strong race and a podium finish.
Great run and video: Good idea to take us through the race. Might think about getting one of these although am not much of a hat wearer normally LOL. Clearly can’t have slowed you down wearing it? BTW think the DNF was the only real fair outcome to the “proper” HM runners. Would Thommo have followed his pace if he thought he was actually racing him and that is the problem I think.
Thanks Tim. Glad you enjoyed the style of vlog. The camera is so light that it certainly doesn't slow you down. I don't always race in a cap though so have to consider whether to take it along on future races. I am torn on the Omar thing but agree with your points. I fell into a debate on Facebook with some people criticising the other half marathon runners. I made the same point as you that they did not know they were racing Omar which makes it very difficult to predict what would have happened if they had known. Thommo is faster on paper and perhaps would have gone with it.
Great video as always Matt, best of luck in Berlin. You doing Manchester as well? Saw your name on the Elite entry, if so see you on the start line pal 👍
Really enjoyed this, and as others have said it gives an insight on how the races are at the front end of races where more tactics come into it. Do you plan to use the camera for Berlin at all?
Thanks. Great that you enjoyed it. I have been surprised by the positive feedback on the style of vlog. I didn't plan on taking the camera out on the Berlin course but will have to have a think.
I’m torn to be honest. My gut feeling is that I feel sorry for him because it was a tremendous run and so unlucky to go the wrong way. On the other hand I totally understand that the runners in the Half Marathon were not racing him as they knew he was in the 10K race. I think the only runner capable of beating Omar was Thommo in this case. I can understand why he was disqualified but it does feel harsh too. I’m glad I didn’t have to make the decision. Omar took it really well though and will be back to win plenty more races in future.
I wore my club vest in the 2 races before this. I prefer the quality of Soar or Nike for racing. I wear my club vest when I am representing my club. I think many people are the same.
This is great. Don’t often see the head cam footage from the business end of races, and the voiceover commentary explaining the thought process as the kms go by was really insightful. Excellent.

my thought process aswell, solid video brotha!

Great video Matt. Really liked the head cam footage and the fact you commentated over it afterwards was fantastic, gave a great insight to everything. Well done Matt super work fella 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Absolutely epic vlog, defo should take that race cam again. Loved it 👊🏻
how does this channel only have 9k subs, should have way more, great vid.

Absoloutly awesome running mate. Brilliant !!!
Yes, please keep using that camera with the commentary. That was awesome. Great race.
LOVE the POV footage Matt! Super happy for you

Great footage and well done on the 3rd place 💪🏻🥉. It’s one of your best vlogs, and right up there with the FOD runner / Lydney lakes ‘head to heads’ during lockdown 😎😁.
Thanks. The head to head with FOD Runner is one of my favourite vlogs, so for this to be compared with that is great.
GREAT FOOTAGE, really exciting as a viewer. GREAT RACE. Good luck for Berlin!
Thanks Andy. Really appreciate that 👊

Cool video with the headcam and commentary. Really gave a great „first row“ experience of the race.

Congratulations on your PB. I loved the event. Glad you had a great day doing the half 👊
Great race, you smashed it. Omar is rapid, he ran 29 at Worcester 10K a few weeks ago. Cant wait to see how Berlin goes for you, good luck.
This is awesome! Never get to see race footage like this
Congrats the footage was good seeing you racing for that third place 👍🏻
Bloody loving this head cam!! Felt right with you... though I exhausted well before you in virtual reality 🤣🤣
Thanks. Great to hear you enjoyed the footage.
Well done Matt. Keep up the great work! Best of luck for Berlin 🙌

Thanks Ben. Great to hear you enjoyed this new format.

Well done Matt! Love how you talked us through it all. I’ll be sure to watch this again before my A race in November!

Great running Matt. Well done
Brilliant race footage ! I hope you are still not wandering the streets of Bristol looking for your car 😄
Found the car in the end 🤣
The head cam worked well and was really good, great video and racing too. Real shame about Omar 😬

Yeah, that’s a good point Tim. Thommo ran a 67, well within himself and was awarded the win after Omar’s disqualification.

That looks painful so hilly them hills were crazy
well done :)

Great video Matt! I'm doing this race in a couple weeks, any tips?
I’m surprised the speed camera didn’t go off for you lot

Will you be there again this Sunday?

Insta360 Go 2. I was impressed with the video. Audio was awful but I expected that.

I wore my club vest in the 2 races before this. I prefer the quality of Soar or Nike for racing. I wear my club vest when I am representing my club. I think many people are the same.
@@TheWelshRunner It seems to be a growing trend unfortunately. With us a club record won't count if you're not wearing a club vest.
@@mrrob6730 What about if one of your members was representing their county, region or even nation?
@@TimGrose Then it's at the discretion of the committee. In those cases I'm sure it would count!
