Lyrics:
Break my bones, I'm feeling funny
I'm not sure why
If they call, don't give em money
I made up my mind this time
Aw let it go, I could but I won't
I gotta fight it
The war is in my nature
The war is in my nature
Got a target on my back and always ready to attack
The war is in my nature
Take my time, I'm in no hurry
Walk that thin line
If they call just let em worry
We won't see eye to eye this time
Aw let it go, I could but I won't
I gotta fight it
Happily in danger
Happily afraid
I'm happily a stranger
And happy I could set them straight
Got my laws of survival
With my hand on the bible
It's my own vicious cycle
And I'm at it again
Oh I'm at it again

Asphalt 9 Hype Train Let's go!!!!
xDinox blood pressure was also in 8
I also came here from A9 🤩🤩
HYPE
Let's goooooo
I play asphalt 9 but the first time I heard this song was gangstar neworleans that is also made by gameloft
Lets not forget about Roy leaving too, he's another massively talented guy and he's responsible for so many of mutemaths awesome riffs
Roy just stopped touring with them.. afaik he isn't giving up contributing to writing albums.
Really? I thought he withdrowed from the band.
No he will continue to contribute to the band for studio albums. He even played with them recently in Nashville on tour but just for one show.
roymitchellcardenas.blogspot.com/2017/05/leaving-touring-life-behind.html
Well, nearly two years later and now everybody but Paul is gone..........well, shit.......
finally, i found this song, i searched "its in my nature asphalt 9", etc, but it didn't come up, now I finally found it
I searched up voice in my lecture
I've been a fan since the Reset EP in 2004. 3 years later I saw them in concert. In all their glory. Greg Roy Paul & Darren. They melted my mind, and delivered one of the greatest shows I'll ever see.
Since I first heard them, I've been a super fan. Such a special, vastly underrated band that somehow always came under the radar, which is such a shame. In my opinion, In essence, Mutemath was Paul, Darren & Roy, with respect to Greg & Todd. The 3 of them were really the nucleus of what that band was. Darren and Paul were really the ones that made Mutemath a reality. In my eyes.
Darren was the undisputed spirit of Mutemath. The taping of the headphones to his head at the beginning of each show. Playing on a small beat up kit. Raging fiercely and fearlessly through each song. Yet, with such precision and focus. Every note he played, the way he played it, how it played it, blew you the f*** away. Throwing drums into the crowd, then playing those drums out in the audience. Giving the audience a bass drum, then standing on top of the drum, followed by a dive into the crowd.....Exciting. Entertaining. Tasteful. Thrilling. Suspenseful. Daring. Musical...through each record they made, no matter the style or approach, he always remained himself. Stylistically. Musically. Proving time and time again his master talent and strength to the band's overall sound. The playing got better. Became more intriguing. Intricate. Complex. Darren as a musician embodied musical brilliance. A percussive master. He was put on this earth to play drums.
Today I came into the news of Darren's department from the band. As a drummer of 27 years, with Darren being an absolute hero of mine, im left really devastated. When Roy left I was really sad over it, but I understood. Family comes first. Always. I wonder if Darren's departure from the band was for reasons relative to Roy's reasons for leaving. If so, I wish nothing but love and respect to him. And a big big thank you for the music you gave us for the past 13 years. We're forever grateful for your existence in this world.
Me personally, I don't know if I can accept a Mutemath without the original rhythm section. Really I don't know how to accept a Mutemath without Darren. I'm truly heartbroken over this. He was so important and vital to the band, and always seemed to be that driving force behind the songs. And especially, the performances. ...im just in so much shock. I never thought this day would come. EVER. I know im not alone im thinking that. This is a nightmare.... props to Paul for still wanting to go through with a tour. And best of luck to 'Hutch' Hutchinson who's doing drum duties. Good luck man. Kill it in Mr. King's honor. I might try to go see the show, just out of curiosity. I really hope things pan out for the band and for Paul during this rough time. I really hope they pull this off, and I'm sure he wouldn't tour this record if he felt it couldn't be done. I just know that when Play Dead is released, I'll be listening to it with a heavy heart. Much love Mr. King. Please keep making music. Regardless of what you do down the road from here on out. Much love.
From a fan in Arizona.
Gabe R. Everything you said is exactly how I feel....
I'm feeling similar.
First contact with the band was when I was seven or eight years old and a friend of my Dad brought the Flesh and Bones Electric Fun DVD out and we watched that and I was hooked.
Typical was my favorite song for many many years and I always listened to the Live versions of their debut.
I only got to see them live two years ago, when they toured with Vitals.
That show was exciting as fuck and one of the best live gigs I've ever been to.
Although every time they released a new album, I was dissapointed at first because they all sound so different and I was never able to appreciate those changes very well.
But over time I grew to love almost every song of theirs and am really sad now to have Darren leave the band and having Play Dead to probably be their last record ever.
nobody cares m8

Incredible song...gives me chills. I want to make a ringtone starting at 2:41.

You'll have so many missed calls 🤣

I am going to treasure the albums that Mutemath has made with Roy and Darrin in the lineup.

Asphalt 9 brought me here, this song is awesome, glad they added it in the game, fits the game menu so much! 🚗💨
I will miss Darren king in Mutemath in the future! I love mutemath. I've always been a fan. I was heart broken when i heard that he left the band..
whaaat?! This is my first time hearing about this ! Oh god, why?! Darren King is a master at those drums!
Pratyashi 26 Darren King is back. And has been back since Vitals. It's just you can't notice him with the beard and all. But that is Darren alright.
Thomas Patterson the band sent out an email a few days ago that Darren's left for good. I think this must've been the last song he recorded with them. 😢
and don't forget Roy either...
Darren left and also Roy Mitchell
That very last shot makes me feel all sorts of nostalgic, happy, and sad
You have no idea how much i searched for this song
Coming from A9 btw 🙋
Do you have your own club in the game?
I had to Shazam it off my iPad with the game open because it wasn't on the RUclips playlist.

Play Dead might actually top Odd Soul as my favorite Mutemath album. Didn't think that'd be possible!
ciao_fiv nothing will top Odd Soul. Vocally it was Paul at his best..There was a level to his vocal ability in that was just uncanny to the rest of his work.
Thomas Patterson it's not just Paul's vocals that were amazing on Odd Soul - the instruments were insane as well! Hit Parade and War feel like Odd Soul songs in the best way, so i think it's possible that Play Dead will at least be on par with Odd Soul :)
Samesies
ciao_fiv You gotta be kidding me
Armistice and Odd Soul had a baby and it's fantastic!!
An album a year for the next 10 years please, thanks :0

I am wondering how cannot this legendry piece didn't crossed 1 billion, not even 1million
This is SO freaking good. So relevant too.
This song is criminally underrated
Ikr, its so good that it gives me goosebumps
Best song released so far IMO. Wonderful mix of the old MM and the new.
I'm an old player from Alpha 8 but I didn't think this song became part of Alpha9 I just love hard rock, metal, alternative and more like this one.
I'm not from Alpha 9, I just came here and the song sounds great!!!!
alpha 8

Asphalt

Even after Asphalt 9 brought me to this song! I still come here not because of it anymore, but because this song just absolutely slaps! Thank you Mutemath for this banger and to A9 for bringing me to here! :)
EXCELLENT!!!!! As long as there is a man named Paul Meany in MuteMath, I'm a fan.
This makes my heart smile. They always deliver!
G E N I A L la canción! Ya quiero escuchar todo el álbum (ojalá algún día vengan a Argentina)
Me sumo a tu comentario.
A mexico tambien porque no xd
ASPALTH 9 SIUUU
Ugh, I miss Darren and Roy already..... but I have no doubt they will still put on a fantastic show when I go to see them in October!
Christopher Cole Owen I was bummed when I heard they left, but I checked out their set list for their upcoming shows, and damn, they're not holding back. Quarantine, Reset, Achilles Heel, Armistice; they're still playing all their most difficult songs, so I think the new guys have it covered ;)
This is NOT the Paul Meany show...the new guys delivered big time....and this version of Mutemath brought it at the St. Pete gig. Fantabulous!!!!!!!!!!!! Missing forementioned and praying the best for all parties.
I can attest to that Scott! I just saw them for the first time two days ago and they did incredible! Drummer had me staring the whole time and I love Paul's dance moves XD And don't forget Colony House, they did amazing!!
Nice and gritty.. I like seeing that they are giving the guitars some love...
Getting some Black Sabbath vibes from Todd's Riffs on this one.. These new songs are so ambitious, I hope the record is great, cant wait to hear it next month!
ibanezman04 you're hearing the album tomorrow?! how?!
"I Am Iron Man"
I really like this new song guys! I will miss both Darren and Roy from the band, just like when Greg left. Each of them brought some great ideas to the music. But I have enjoyed every "version" of MuteMath so far. I think we'll all have to wait a while to see what the "new" version of MuteMath will be like. I'm personally waiting for the new MuteMath album with the new drummer (Hutch) and the new bass player... and we may have to wait quite a while for that, since they're just now releasing a new album with both Roy and Darren on it. I also look forward to what music Darren will put out with his wife - the two of them have made some really beautiful songs.
The pressure he put in the midlle of the song, put his soul out and cried mine out
Sounds like a mixture of their old stuff and their new. Awesome.
I'm glad I'm still discovering songs by them. Makes me feel less sad that they're no longer together.
See you guys in Orlando!!!!
So excited! I'm spending my 30th birthday with y'all at your Houston show 😁
Looking at the cars that i will never get in real life...

Best we can afford is the Lancer Evo X
GREAT SONG!! the "happily in danger" part of the song totally screams Loud Pipes by Ratatat (actually the same chords, key, and sound) i love it! cant wait for play dead. i have to say though, i will miss darren so much. he fit so well as the drummer for the band and it wont be the same without him. he's my idol.
This is pure art in its most rawest form. The war within my nature-ahhhhhhhh. Man can this Album come out already?
Whoever made A9 playlist, deserves a freekin medal
I agree. Best game soundtrack ever! ❤

I LOVE THIS SONG FROM THIS game :)
If you're listen to this music you're a legend

I love the strings in the background

I hope everyone is praying for Paul. Everything has happened so fast, I'm sure he hasn't had time to even think about it, and really access what all has happened.
I love it! Can't wait for the new LP. Knowing that's possibly the last time I'll see Paul, Darren, and Roy in the same place makes me a little sad though.
Like the song, it'll grow on me more probably. I still miss Greg. I will miss DK but haven't heard what Mutemath will be like without him or Roy yet, since everything we've seen / heard so far is still inclusive of them.
It just can't be over with these 3, Paul Roy and Darren.
Without Roy and Darren it will be kind of weird...
Roy will still be recording with them, just not touring
Yeah, I knew about that. Is Darren just going to go solo?
You guys did it again - music like this makes me so proud to be a Mutemath fan
Asphalt 9
Sucks to know Darren will be gone, but I'm sure the band will continue on. And Roy will still be involved. Thank you for your kind words and
loving support! ***Just to clarify, I will be involved in future
recordings from the band and continue with my own musical
projects/productions. Stay tuned.
Woah my fav Asphalt 9:Legends Soundtrack!
You know what, even if it's the last MuteMath album we get - this record has Roy and Darren all over and through it! I'm excited to hear it in full - At least we get this even if it's a swansong. Thanks for all the music so far and I'm confident there will be more even if it is a slightly new sound.
Thank you, guys, for this gift. Inspiring lofi and grittiness with your special twist of melodic strength.
Oh my gosh this song is dripping with so much raw groove and incredibly crunchy riffs and I am in LOVE! First time I heard it, I had to keep replaying those few seconds after 2:58 cause it just packs such a punch! We are truly blessed with Mutemath's music. They're a freakin' gift.

2:09 My Favorite Part
I saw you live in Richmond VA last year, I will definitely see yo u this tour. Loving the new stuff, can't wait for more!!
This song is so damn good! Mutemath never ceases to amaze. You all just get better and better!
This sounds to me like their song "Bulletproof" on Vitals broke up in to two different ideas. It's got quite the same rhythm and feel as some parts of that track. Not that that's a bad thing, I love it! Can't wait for the new album!
Samuel Tattum that's how most of the their work is like. So that makes them so awesome. Objectify, create, evolve.
Good game (asphalt 9), great visuals, even better song, but the band is LEGENDARY
a dimension of music dynamics thats insane..
Awesome track
Really love this!!!! Keep it up guys!
the drummer totally nailed
The fact that Paul is the only one left absolutely breaks my heart!
Really started to get some old mutemath vibes at 3:30. Loving the new tune
Still the best live performances I've ever seen in my life. Problem I find with them is their complexities stifle their ability to just write simple direct effective songs. Royal Blood has them beat in that department. But a show with Mutemath and Royal Blood would be sick!
I absolutely have a LOVE/HATE relationship with this band..... I LOVE THEIR SOUND... they drive me nuts though with their awesome creativity..... THEY ARE ALWAYS 5 steps ahead with new sounds... I would die to be in on their creative process... THE GUITAR TONE IS INSANE IN THIS TRACK( I dunno if it's even a guitar) the main riff
This is without a doubt my favorite song on the new album.
Got a target on my back and always ready to attack.... WAR
This is miles ahead of anything on Vitals. IMO
Not a high bar to cross, imo
who else came here from asphalt 9???

Man...it's hard to believe they put out an album this solid this late in the game, and then only have half the group to tour it. I know Hutch is great but the King IS Mutemaths vertebrae.
This notification made my day!!
Kinda reminds me of "Allies"
Nice tune
I like how weird Mutemath's style is
KEEP IT UP!
I don't know what I just witnessed but wow!!
ive loved Mutemath for forever (and obvs will still love em after the departure of roy n darren). but this i feel doesnt live up to their amazing video standards. remember how fkn amazing the video clips were for blood pressure, spotlight, typical and monument? but the song is amazing (so it cancels it out), kinda being a mix of all their past stuff.
THE BOYS ARE BACK
except darren king
I know people will disagree but this is one of the best songs on that album if not the best. Also my favorite next to all of the Odd Soul and Armistice Tracks.
Good players win races. Great ones break records. Legends change the game.
RIP mutemath this album could possibly be their "curse of the ninth"
