Remember wanting to look inside these in 1984/5/6, ish as a little boy in merthyr co op. Was fascinated by the washing machines.
I don’t remember seeing them at all until this one, but I do remember seeing someone with the front loader because I was fascinated on why the door was purple? 😂

Hope you managed to find a pump for thismachine- cure the problem at the end of the cycle. Fly back micro switches (temperature control) were very reliable and simple. Great video.
It wasn’t mine unfortunately and I’m sure it got sold on.
We had one of those. And the noise it made while spinning was deafening!
Excellent video ! This so far is the best video I have seen of these U.K.Hotpoint top load washers. You can actually see the wash action. Good job 👍.

I’ve been married on 25/06/ 1966 that’s 58 years now and miss my hotpoint washing machine so much, when hotpoint finished making them was the worse thing for me, it was easy to use, wash,rise and spin , put I didn’t have to bend down to remove the clothes ( this at 77 is difficult)

@@HooverLux In what way were they better would you say? Perhaps you mean the agitator.
It does this yanks heart good to see our cousins across the Atlantic using agitator top loaders. What a cool machine ! That is some serious agitation.

How i wish i could get a new one of these .Had one in back in the 1980s .the best washer i've ever had

Never understood the static rinse. Neither did my mother. She used to reset it for 2 agitated rinses
I don’t either, what a waste of water.
It's to rinse the excess top layer of suds off the clothes and rinse the inside of the tub clean..
@@orangie8426 Yes but at least 30 seconds of agitation would have been good.
As you probably know Hotpoint changed it to two agitated rinses for later machines, perhaps in response to criticism.

I had the last model to be made of this machine 9605. It never did the static/and spray type rinse. It never had the separate water temperature control either which i think was great. Just one dial which set program and temperature. I only kept it 4 years as i live in a flat with low water pressure, it took a age to fill up and when it emptied my waste water pipe could not carry the large amount of water away quickly enough and i had to keep stopping the machine to let the water drain away otherwise i would have a flood on the floor. The agressive nature of the agitator also ruined a lot of my shirts.
Oh my gosh yes, I can imagine 10 mins to fill and 10 seconds to empty 🤣. The agitation is good, too good for delicate stuff I can see. Lovely old machine to use to.
@@HooverLux I was under the impression that the very last Hotpoint top loader had 2 speed agitation, the slower one for delicates. Not entirely sure though.
Definitely a different kind of beast.
This one is very American with the all in one washer and spinner, I’ve asked if this was a kind of American smaller machine brought over, but sold as hot point with some aesthetic changes? I hope someone can answer.
@@HooverLux My mum had one very like this machine in the early 1970s [didn't have the buttons ]
@@HooverLux I believe these are British designed.In the U.S we didn't have top loaders that heated the water. Control panel always reminds me of a stereo tuner. That 'spiralclean' ? agitator rivaled any of the ramp type agitators we had here in the U.S. What an aggressive wash action and roll over. Very cool.

I'm sorry guys! But I have looked at the vintage Hotpoint 1979 version! It seems like and the guys on the last spin and drain, there might be something wrong with your control switch. I have looked at it earlier today on my video, and nothing was happening on the last program! I think you need to get the machine serviced my friends! Sorry!👍👍

Might I suggest guys, if your machine does not empty properly, may I strongly recommend calgon tablets! Well recommended! Trust me! 👍
I always use them in my machines, the own brand ones and I think they help too, but the others absolutely hate them and call them a waste of money 🤣🤣🤣
Calgon tablets and liquid in all machines! It will do the work and all the process required! 👍👍
My Mother bought this same machine in 1977. It was then a 1509/05.Had it for 20 years with a few repairs from me. New kitchen saw it go into the skip and still working. AWFUL. I had no space to keep it then.
It’s funny when you look back at the stuff that was chucked just because of progress and newer items. It’s only tears later you look back and think, What Did I Do!!!! 🤣

I just came across this after mentioning these machines in one of your other videos. They do use a lot of water these machines though, and electricity, by todays standards.

So much easier it being an automatic machine.
