    19 pts, 14 rebs, and most passes to open players. And then you have that killer cross over dunk of the game. Yep, Deni's becoming the best player on the team.

      Playing 44 minutes is not an easy task, they had to manage his minutes better so he can catch a breather.
      I think he hasn't sat down once since coming in during the third quarter.
      Mistakes are bound to happen, like tossing an alley-oop to Shaedon as if he's Wemby's height, or a long pass to Simons as if he's got Deni speed to chase it down.

    Regarding Deni's turnover rate, it's worth noting that he's playing major point guard minutes for the first time in five years, having previously done so briefly with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
    During Deni's stint with the Washington Wizards, coaches Scott Brooks and later Wes Unseld Jr. were committed to constructing a contender around Bradley Beal. As a result, Deni was mostly assigned to guard the opponent's best player for three years, wasting crucial time and failing to provide him with sufficient minutes at point guard to develop this facet of his game to NBA standards.
    His arrival in Portland has prompted the Blazers to "turn on the turbo engine at full blast," but there are a few tune up issues that still remain.
    I agree that a high turnover ratio would be problematic if the Blazers were in the running for a championship. But they are not. Rather than win as many games as possible, they are "tanking" to obtain the highest lottery pick possible in the upcoming draft. Being as it may, and although Deni Avdija is no longer a rookie, it doesn't hurt to give him some development time to honing his point guard skills in the hopes that he can reduce turnovers and become genuinely effective in his role as a swiss army knife of sorts, or possible a 6.9 point guard with a size advantage over any other counterpart in the league.

    The Ant hero ball in the last 3 minutes was really frustrating. No one is going to remember it, because he ended up scoring that one bucket, and the Blazers ended up winning the game, but that's not what you should be doing to win games. And what's more annoying is that you can clearly see that those are the coaches instructions.

      That’s how most of the league plays the last minutes of tight games. Right or wrong, it seems to be the status quo for the league.

      The best teams don't. You'll never see the Joker playing hero ball, for example. The Celtics, OKC ans Cavs wouldn't do that either; they might give the last ball to Tatum, SGA or Mitchell, but those guys would pass the ball in they don't have a good shot.

    • @SumZero007
      @SumZero007 День назад

      @@catanace1741 “wouldn’t do that” but then you literally described who they do that with on those teams. You are saying the outcome is different. So the only difference is either Ant’s options aren’t open because defenders stay home (don’t respect him enough to send the double), or Ant has terrible vision. Would need to go re-watch to see.

      There's a difference between having your top player make the decisions in clutch moments, and have them play heroball and take all the shots in clutch moments.
      Ant isn't even considering passing. He's asking everyone to clear out, and he's taking the shot no matter what. Look at the last 5-10 possesions of that game. Ant was running down the clock (why even do that when the score is tied and there's 2 minutes to play?), and then taking a bad shot on the buzzer.

    • @SumZero007
      @SumZero007 День назад

      @ I’d be surprised if the coaching is “shoot no matter what you see.” But we also have pretty terrible perimeter shooters on this team. Especially with Grant out.
      Slowing the game down towards the end of the game is pretty common across the league. Agree, it’s not my favorite thing or approach across any sport. For the most part teams should play to what’s been working all game, unless they absolutely must bleed clock.
