I've had the exact same path but I only focused on frontend but now after almost 2 years of coding I'm finally starting to really learn back end stuff....very happy to have found your channel, great content..keep up the good work
Awesome Yalda! It's great to get more knowledge about backend related technologies, it connected the dots for me. I definitely plan to release some backend related content in the future ⚙️
You're so inspiring bro, I ascended from junior to senior last week after 1 year of working, I can relate what is like to code all day everyday, hard work pays off!
Dude! We have almost the same story! 😁 Studied Economics, got tired of it, got in to Iron Hack in Amsterdam, quit the program, studied by myself for 7 months (dreamed about bugs of course 😆) and got my first job as a React dev in 2019! Wish we could meet!
Solid content dude - I’m following a similar path to yours. I’m about 5 months in and starting to feel comfortable with JS, node, Express, and MongoDB. React is my next step and I’m starting to feel all the pieces come together. Your story is super motivating
thank u share your experience. i live similar progress with u. when i see someone who is succeeded i feel better myself. I wish u success in your career
I did pretty much the same thing, one thing I regret is not being better at CSS. CSS can be much deeper than I originally thought it was when I first started.
Thanks for the kind words! Lately I haven't done any videos outside. Although I love the outdoors, I got feedback from some people that it doesn't feel as personal as recording it from home. From now on I'll probably continue with both background settings :)
Can you share with us your portfolio and what type of project you did to get the first jop And if you can tell us who was your first two month in the company if you see something did not expect or you learn something else how they push the project in github how the team work and that kind of things
This is really motivating. I'm about to start my job hunt after I complete my crud app with MERN. Curious, what sort of features did your crud apps have when you were hired, .i.e login and authorization? Also, did they have tests, and were they deployed with docker?
Some had login & authorization, some had tests and some where deployed with Docker. Overall you should more focus on showing off your knowledge of the ecosystem and coding in general. Not having authentication, deployed the app with Docker etc. is not a problem! Sorry for the late reply, but hopefully you've been able to get a job!
I live in the Netherlands. I did not really get into algo's that much (just some basic stuff); till date never really had to use it (well, actually I did 2 months ago: Stack Overflow got me a solution within minutes ^^). I built about 6 projects; that'd be plenty for a portfolio as a junior.
@@TechbaseDev I forgot to ask you, was your interview multiple rounds or you made it through just one round and got hired? Did you also learn algorithms and did they ask you any algorithm questions in the interview?
I was about to give up 😂. I only applied to 20 jobs in 3 months. So I’m not trying hard enough I guess. I got good skills. But will send in application like crazy then .
Have to say, good job. in a paid for, free to me Html/css college class. I have a bunch of college that I wont be using much of. Might need to find my own way after that. Good info.
Especially at the very start you'll forget a lot of things (since you don't use them often). I always kept notes of the things I expected to forget sooner or later and made sure I was able to find things quickly (that document is currently >250 pages). However, trough time you'll start memorizing most of it by doing things over and over again (especially when it becomes your job). I have to make a side note right here because I've for example not worked with PostgreSQL for over a year now. If someone asks me to work with it, I'll definitely need my notes 😅
I mainly build a lot of CRUD apps (all of them with React and NodeJS). Besides that I also did quite a few React-only projects. I'll create a video soon about what a good portfolio looks like!
Damn I feel like we had pretty much the exact same timeline - I started around April 2020 and got my job in November. My job has ended up being very full stack though - a lot of PHP and vanilla JS, but sadly not many modern technologies like React. How come you switched places at 7 months - did you just quit the first one?
Crazy coincidence! Congrats on the job, it's great to be skilled in vanilla JS. You can always try to find a new job with some newer technologies if you aspire to. I didn't actually quit my job but decided to not go for an extension. Pretty unfortunate since I enjoyed working there, however, I had to work with Angular in the end which I didn't like. Will release a video about this in a few days!
The Netherlands. I'm not sure how the demand for devs compares to other areas in the world, however, the demand is pretty high. I was just lucky meeting the right people at the right time. 2-4 weeks would be more realistic here.
@@malcomgreen4747 yeah, I know that some companies in the US have like a 4-6 round interview process. That's unheard of in western Europe. Most people will refuse to spend so much time in the application process...
Thanks , bro! Good motivation for me

what!! you ascended to senior just after a year?

'Got my foot in the door' ... The most painful step if you are starting on a new career path. But it is totally worth it!
