Severance - Things took a real and violent turn

  • It starts off with Mark meeting the woman who helped Petey reintegrate his Outtie and his Innie. He also finds out that while it seemed as though the procedure was actually quite dangerous, the woman tells him that it was really just the fact that Petey didn't do things the right way after the operation. Of course, it turns out that if Petey hadn't done exactly what he did, Lumon might not be on the brink of collapse.
    For the first time since Severance began, things took a real and violent turn and not in a non-specific way. In doing so, a couple of different times, the audience is getting a real look into what's at stake when it comes to the procedure and the people that order such a thing to happen. Of course, it's still not entirely clear why things are apparently as high risk as they are, but the show does a marvelous job in this episode and really throughout the series in making the audience believe that it's not remotely out of the realm of possibility that what happens, needed to happen.

    I like how the interior of the company is all 2001: A Space Odyssey, wide open sterile interiors, and it's contrasted with the messy, chaotic outside world, which feels more claustrophobic

    I fucking loved this scene. It could have been straight out of Mr Robot or Utopia. Did NOT expect it to turn out the way it did!

    This scene is probably the weakest one in the show. Everyone is brought in to the world without their permission. Focusing on what might be behind Lumon's motivations, instead of the supposition about his "innie", would have been more interesting. The way she offed Doug was also pretty weak.

      Everyone is brought into the world without their permission, but not everyone is brought into the world by a cult corporation that wants to enslave all of humanity with implanted brain chips.

    • @jamesbohm3690

      If the innie was free to do whatever they please then sure, everyone is brought into the world without permission. The difference is the innie exists only in a purgatory that they can't leave short of death (retirement). That's monstrous, regardless of whatever else Lumon is up to

    • @turtle1nAbox
      @turtle1nAbox 9 дней назад +1

      not even close to the same lmao. The innie is trapped and has no freedom.

    • @Shakespearespaniel
      @Shakespearespaniel 9 дней назад +9

      Fair. But the bit about bringing his innie into the world without his permission is pretty clever and fun when you realise its the antinatalist position, ie the argument that having children is selfish and unethical.
