- #AnsysFluent #CFDNinja #ReferenceValues
In this tutorial, you will learn how to use the Reference Values window for a 3D simulation. With Reference Values (Lenght, Area, etc.), you can find the Drag Coefficient. In this case, the experimental Drag coefficient (Cd) is 1.05.

You have literally saved my airfoil assignment with the angle of attack you did. I can't thank you enough for that. I have started doing Fluent and CFX tutorials on your website to improve my CFD.
As a mechanical engineer, your videos helped me a lot, thanks !
Hi friend;
You are the winner of the Amazon e-card. Please send us an email to support@cfd.ninja.
Best regards

It is a clear and easy to follow tutorial. Also, interesting to see the relatively close results without further mesh refinement on the cube's wake.
Thank you and I hope you can continue sharing.
I really appreciate your contribution and your time doing these kinds of tutorials. That was useful and helpful lesson for me.
I just want to say thank you.
Appreciate all the CFD help for all us beginners!
Your videos improved my work so much! Can't thank you as much as I would like to! Awesome work as always!!! Thank you!!!
Im starting to working on cfd so i expert so many things from your channel as beginners level
You do some extraordinary works for noobs out there (like me). Keep doing it !! that's the real charity of this new era!!
Continuing watching your tutorial video, hope you long live, wealth, and prosper
Thanks for all your tutorials!
A true life-saver, my lab assignment was about to go tits up if it weren't for this.
You're welcome friend.
Best regards
Thank you sir for teaching us so much via youtube...
Interesting opportunity!
Do more videos related to Analysis of 3D Objects.
Love from INDIA
Thank you.
I watch your videos, those are amazing, especially the naca airfoil one.
Great content as usual. Thanks for all the help.
it's nice, bro. Hope you doing well in new year, merry Christmas!
Gracias por el video! Saludos
Great video
Nice Video. Thank you
May God save you this pandemic so that we can learn more for this channel !!!!....
Thank you friend, God bless you and your family
All the best
Gracias por los tutoriales, son de mucha ayuda.
Great video
Thank you
Спасибо за видеоролик
Nice video ;) keep going
Tanks for all
Nice task
Hi CFD Ninja, Thanks for your dedicated tutorials first of all. I was wondering though if you have tried overset mesh in 3D inside the Fluent?

Thank you so much for your amazing videos!
In order to create this geometry in ansys spaceclaim, after cutting the cube from the flow domain, shall I keep this block or remove ? Thanks
CFD NINJA hleped me during my BEng dissertation in 2016. I watched the videos on repeat till I figured it out. So a huge thank you from me. And other like me
Also it would be nice to win the gift card.
In my case coefficient of drag is plotted as 0 for all iterations...I cannot understand the mistake I am doing ...kindly help
The plot seems correct though
excelente video. sigue así!

can you make a tutorial on how you made your mesh? I try to do the same with a sphere
hi sir big fan of your work can make a tutorial on how you made the cube and boundary
Question. You made a named selection for the cube right? How did you do it? Did you select each surface of the cube manually? because It's subtracted from the domain.
Thank you for your help
what device are you using(processors, graphics etc)? fluent keeps crashing on my device when i try to import the mesh. any suggestions?
Hey man I am getting this error every time I try to open your cube.cgns file
how do I fix this ?
I am using the student version of Ansys CFD workbench R1
.
Error: No journal response to dialog box message:'
This is a student license, and can only be used with cases containing less than 512000 cells.
Please exit this fluent session and start another session to continue'
. Internally, cancelled the dialog.
Error: inquire-face-threads: invalid grid
Error Object: #f
Error at host:

Hi friend, you need the commercial or research license. Regards
Thanks for your tutorial. I have a question. Why did you choose velocity is 2.8 m/s
If I want to analyze drag due to surface roughness that requires near-wall treatment, can I use Spalart-Allmaras instead of k-w SST? I'm trying to validate a flat plate wind tunnel experiment. Thank you!
If I am simulating for example an aircraft, then what should I write in Reference Values - area and length? Are those dimensions of enclosure?
Hello! How can I plot drag coefficient as a function of volume fraction instead of iterations?
If I change the velocity value from 2.6 to 20m/s I am getting Cd value of 60...I have used your geometry itself..can you please explain on how to overcome this problem..thanks
Hi, I have a problem. While defining the reference values, I don't have the "fluid" option in "reference zone", but the only option is "solid". I'm trying to calculate the drag coefficent of a sphere that I designed using design modeler.
Thank you for your help to whoever replies!
Hello CFD Ninja what geometry is specified as fluid in cell zone above boundary conditions Thank you in advance
Hello , İ am a beginner and have some questions to you master, when we create the geometry do we extract the cube from the geometry ,and also if we extract what is the cube in this video is it the surface inside of the wind tunnel?
Hi friend;
In this case there is only the control volume without the cube (neither are the faces of the cube).
Regards
Hey CFD ninja..thanks very much for uploading :) .I have a question. In meshing, do I have to substract the cube from fluid? And how can I name it if substracted? My result is around 1.20 :(
Hi friend, you need remove the cube (substract body). Regards
Hi friend, you need remove the cube (substract body). Regards
Hi
I want calculate drag force
Is it the same way?
hi can you explain why you choose Splarat Almaras rather than any other turbulent mode,
thank you so much
Hi friend,
Spalart Allmaras considers the detachment of the boundary layer.
Regards
sir, can you please explain the difference between .msh file & .cgns file?
Hi sir, what if the geometry is not symmetrical? For example the top of the cube is longer than the bottom, do we take average length?
Hi friend,
It is necessary to do a laboratory test to obtain the drag forces then calibrate the numerical model
Which book do you suggest to understand the fundamentals/theory of CFD?
An introduction to computational fluid dynamics by Verteeg & Malalasekera
Hi, which CFD software package would you recommend for a beginner?
ANSYS CFX, here several tutorial: cfd.ninja/tutorials/cfx-tutorials/
Regards
One question why do you choose Spallart alllamus model for viscous?
It is due to the separation of the boundary layer
It is due to the separation of the boundary layer
Bro where is the cube file nothing is there on the link
Hi friend;
Here is the link: cfd.ninja/ansys-fluent/ansys-fluent-drag-coefficient-reference-values-cube-3d/
It is on the video.

how we can get lift and drag coefficients in ANSYS CFD-post???
You do it in solution not in results.
@@Abduldoctor How in CFX?
Hi. Is your cfd.ninja website still alive? I have message that it is like in update and please wait.
Thanks for any info.

what if we are using a complex geometry such as an uav? what should we do in reference values, thank you. btw im interested in with gift card
Hi friend, good question, you need project the geometry to plane, maybe using Inventor or Solidworks you can obtain the areas.
Regards
@@ansys_cfdIf I change the inlet velocity direction to get a certain angle of attack, should I just project the modal to the plane that perpendiculars to the velocity direction?(the cross-section is square)
I want amazon eGift Card☺️
