How Good Are The Baits? Catfishing Bait Battle

We did a 2 hour 1v1 Challenge for catfishing using baits you can buy at a grocery store. These fishing baits were recommended from an article we found on the internet. We each chose 3 baits a piece that were listed from the article.
The baits we used for this challenge
James used: Spam, Fries, and Pickled Sausage.
Lizabella used: Vienna Sausages, Sardines, and Velveeta Cheese.

The Big Mama is good. Especially when smashed up. I love the pungent smell and its juices. You also eat the Tijuana Mama?

I have used spam before. Especially in tiny creeks. I have never had good luck with it in bigger waters.

I’ve caught channel cats on both the spam and the Vienna sausages.
Oh, I also caught a northern pike on spam.
The hardest part is keeping those baits on the hook.

I can confirm, spam, velvetta, v weenies work great but you may have to wrap them in a bait pack or something so they stay on the hook. Tried your jello test, interesting thing they only hit lemonade early morning and it was 90% flatheads. Also if your bait wrapping, crush cheezits to coat the main bait, works like chum

Based on the baits, James has an unfair advantage, Lizabella is using all soft baits. Very hard to cast and especially sardines just fall to mush so she's already down 2 to 3 .
After video, hot dogs vs spam. Use 2/0-4/0 hooks and see who wins.

Put soft baits in vinegar and garlic meaning hot dogs

Spams at the top of the list for me even though it don`t stay on the hook very well ,then beef hot dogs do well. the best really for me is uncooked raw shrimp from wally world.

Absolutely agree! Raw Shrimp is one of our favorite channel cat baits. Spam is ok, but shrimp, hot dogs, chicken, and cut bait is our favorite.

In Arizona we net cast bluegill and then hook them shallow on their back near the end of their top fin... I rig a modified Louisiana where I use a sliding sinker to a leader then run about 18" to a 2/0 hook... this allows the line to stay, the fish can swim around some but can't run far... channel cats go crazy... I always out fish everyone else using other baits..
