The church i attended in Dubai 10 years ago was a metal drummer, sometimes he gets carried away LOL He was a hard hitter too, i like that genre so twas a chef's kiss. But conservatives don't appreciate it though xD
Love to play metal fills during worship practice too. Hahahah. The single hand roll into the bridge is amazing mechanics. Crisp. Tight. Clean. Even the intro has a metal feel to it. You should be driving the chorus with the vocals a bit behind you, but you sit with the vocals just like a metal song would be played. That single hand roll appears to have drumline feel to it, but the metal is in your heart. 100% love this. More please.
This was awesome! As a metal drummer that attends church weekly, I can confirm hearing metal inspired grooved during worship service. Hillsong would be getting a whole new vibe. Haha. Thanks for sharing brother. God bless!
As a metal drummer who got into worship drumming last year...This is 100% me. THE AMOUNT OF TIMES I have to fight going into a half time breakdown beat is agony. I keep joking that I am going to bring my double bass pedal to the church kit but haven't yet. I do a lot of rock/metal fills though which feels good.
Dude, if you go into half time breakdown grooves they'll go NUTS! And yes, bring your double pedals! Trust me, as a lifelong metalhead & musician who also grew up in the church.....they want to THRASH!! They love blasts too!! Ask me how I know 😂
I used to play drums for my church back when I was a teen and seeing this makes me want to relearn the drums just so I can do what he's doing at my church lol
Haha, I love the commentary! As the drummer at my church and a metal artist myself, I definitely relate to this 😂 Those were some tasty fills and grooves, man!
Dude!! Ive played rock/metal and more as a live player since 16yrs old [51 currently]. When i started playing with the Worship Team many moons later, i did bring all of that with me and did stuff like this when it fit!! The Parishioners always loved Our Worship. They continually said it felt more connected.. This wasnt just b/c of me, it was the teamwork but this definitely worked in that break down Brother!! just dont over play it when you do this stuff!! Love it!! what you are doing here really does fit with this song too!!

As a former Pentecostal Church drummer who has played this song numerous of times this version is exactly how it should be played!
If the drummer at my church did this it’d be bumpin IMMEDIATELY!
Pentecostal, that is one oppressive religion. Good to have a penis in that religious mumbo jumbo.
THIS is how we play it here LMAO
Pentecostal too
Lets Go 😂
Let's go fellow Pentecostal Drummer's
The energy this creates is infectious, if I heard this in church I would feel the holy spirit even deeper 🙌
This guy just created the a new genre I never knew I needed: gospel choirs over metal instrumentals. Call it Gospelcore.

Impending doom does that 🤙🏼

Modern metal bands have been incorporating gospel style drumming and songwriting for a hot minute. This makes more sense than not
Right?!?

Great Job on drums without destroying the Church Vibe
Didn't destroy the church vibe, but probably destroyed the church in the process.
