I completely agree. As technologies change, ranges will increase, FSD will improve, comfort and safety will become better.
I have a Tesla and tbh, there is a bit of learning curve when making the switch.
But once you do, u will never want to go back to a ICE.

Auto sales might be a bit lackluster in 2024, but ENERGY margins could be a very surprising trojan horse.
We are becoming waaaaay to sensitive over fear of hurting somebody's feelings in this country. I don't get why that Bloomburg reporter thinks Musk is controversial. I admire when he speaks his mind. From what I can gather, Musk likes freedom in general, free speech, personal growth, sciences and he's his own man. He hates centralized governments where a hand full of people makes the decisions for everyone else, but don't follow their own rules. Thank you very much, but I can make my own decisions, and I think Musk agrees!

Copying Tesla's FSD is super simple. Even though the competition is starting from zero, all they really need to do is find, hire, and use the best engineers on the planet and have them spend a decade profitably launching & scaling the factories required to create a comparable EV fleet, capture an equivalent amount of data, buy up billions of dollars worth of compute, and write the code themselves using the best software engineers on the planet while Tesla continues to do all of that, but better, and faster. The only points of difficulty I see are the competition's current strategy of sucking, not doing any of the above, nor having the time or funds to achieve it while being hung by the neck by all of their combustion technology and workplace.
And in a decade, Tesla will have been patiently waiting for the competition to catch up and not innovate at all so that we have a level playing field. 😂

Actually copying FSD is not simple. Hiring best engineer will not solve the problem. What is one thing you must have to achieve FSD? Data! No algorithm. Tesla has collected billions of miles of driving data from its fleet. It is data monopoly. With no data no FSD training is possible.

CT is going to be tooled up pretty quick, and I think demand will be so strong that they won't have to lower prices much. That's 250k @ $80k pulling 40% margins.
2:20 I think there are 3 things which can make Tesla stock go multiples up, 1) FSD is level 4 2) Tesla Bot in factory and numbers how it lower costs 3) $25000 car don't have production hell and have good reservation/sells (and Cybertruck don't fail it reservation list)
EDIT: why I not mention Robotaxi? Simply, because level 4 would clean all doubts that is possible and people would take it to they models.

Matt do you have garage or home charging ?I think this is a must and greatly reducing charging anxiety
I agree that for now being able to charge at home or at work while parked for a long time is pretty much mandatory otherwise it is too inconvenient. But that will change with time
For people driving 30 to 50 miles per day, charging via superchargers would be necessary only once or twice a week. Most chargers are near a Starbucks or something similar. So plug the car in and go for coffee. The coffee etc. will probably cost more than the charging.
I have no range anxiety as long as I stay on the Interstate. When I go to some state parks I’m very worried about getting back to the closest supercharger when it’s time to go home. It would be cool if they placed more chargers in off-the-beaten path locations.
Ps found a article that puts the factory jobs at $22 to $32 an hour. The stock incentive plan is foggy though.
I am super happy with the stock current price of $175 - even though I bought the bulk of my holding at $207. I hope it stays down for the rest of the year because I am steadily loading up at bargain basement prices. Given the huge potential in the short and medium term, this has to be the best opportunity currently in the market. This is a once in a lifetime play.
You and I are in identical positions. My average share price is 206 and change and I am sitting pretty comfortably with the price at 175. I expect and quick implosion during q1 earnings before a q2 rally. I hope to bring my average cost under 200.

As new prices decrease the resale also does decrease that's a fact, but don't forget the replacement cost has also decreased as much, so in effect it becomes a wash and you get an improved product.
Exactly, my Tesla car being worth less right now does not bother me because I'm getting another Tesla later anyway
I think margins will increase greatly as they include Bot shifts in their factories.

After consuming multiple sources I expect the car division to settle in at 22 percent gross margin The other four divisions will amortize the company up to 30% average. All this resting on whether or not Elon doesn’t implode. I am almost all in at 1100 shares. Not much but looking forward to a nice vacation in 2028!

Sandy Munroe says FLIR is required to be truly autonomous. Cameras do an OK job when the lenses are clean. FLIR is needed for driving in thick fog, heavy rain and snowstorms.

Every one is waiting with cash ready to buy and expects it to fall lower. That is just foolish dont try to pin the bottom, especially with Tesla it’s very volatile.

In order for another run we need a change in market perception. Optimus is going to take awhile and run ahead of FSD. That leaves only three things currently: energy storage, Dojo and Model 2. None of those will be felt until mid-2025 at the earliest.
The next gen car will be designed to be built by Optimus at the rate of 1.25/min = 1,800/Day /Giga-press. AI + Optimus will eliminate imperfections to improve yield, efficiency and quality. Finally, FSD will deliver cars to a showroom near you or direct to your door! Don't tell anyone, as soon as the market realises this the share price and profits will rocket.

Every technology has started high until it was a mass market product, it was never a problem and it will not be a problem, consumer do not have to many choices than Tesla which is covering all the requirement for consumers.
Her realistic track record of forecasting TESLA is a factually not good but she is good saleswoman for sure. I guess she will eventually right - one day - some decade...
Margins of EVs don't matter, we got FSD of which margins will be skyrocketing.
I'm a little disappointed that Gigas Texas and Berlin haven't ramped up their 3 and Ys like Shanghai but otherwise very happy with the company.
I think because the IRA a lot of focus went into doing the battery in house which did not happen fast enough

Thank you Matt for clarifying the chart on consolidation that’s been at least about 3 years so far, important question…did I hear Cathie Wood just say she’s pushing her target out a year? That seems a bit bearish? I have this strange feeling that she’s so far into Tesla stock she has no choice but to keep pumping because I think she realizes there is no way that Tesla will be 2k by 2027 so I’m worried it sounds like she may just keep pushing her price target out. At some point her credibility will start to diminish even more so than it already has.
I think Cathie was talking about her 3 year target, which she pushes out each year!

They won't need to pay "fines" but will have to buy credits from clean vehicle makers. Health is more important than legacy profits.
I wish I got my financial decision fundamentals right and my time lines wrong.. I can wait a few years maybe a decade, but I can’t go back in time.

I trimmed some of my Tesla stock because I wasn’t going to be Elons bag holder. He sold Tesla stock to buy twitter, Tesla stock tanked. And since then, I’ve been up on my bitcoin position. For the past 2.5+ years, Tesla stock has been an opportunity cost for people who have been all in tsla stock.

Assuming BYD start manufacturing in Mexico, could the USA still put tarrifs in place for vehicles coming from Mexico to hold off the Chinese onslaught? If so then I am wondering if that is why tesla is holding off on giga Mexico. Perhaps they don't want to be lumped in with Chinese companies manufacturing in Mexico?

If COGS continue to decrease while demand continues on an overall upward trajectory, there's a good chance 30% margins will be achievable on the car side of the equation within a decade.

The more cars on the road the more data collected the more efficient and rapid will be FSD…..cutting prices is so smart….short term cutting margins….is a short issue…Tesla has to solve FSD as rapidly as possible…model 2 has to come as rapidly as possible to help collecting data….waiting to see the final design of he model 2 which is a game changer….tesla has to increase drastically car production capacity….even with 30 b in cash,tesla has to raise more cash for data centers,AI capacities and eventually a big deal with apple for example to counter Microsoft ChatGPt……the race is on….there will be no more than 1 to 3 winners
I use to listen to Cathie when she was the media darling when ARKK Fund literally made 100% a few years ago. Well guess what at its height ARKK was at $150/share and now it’s $50/share, even with this boom market we have had. Be careful with what she says. Her performance is all you have to look at.
She has lost people a ton of money. She is a gigantic stock pumper. She should be on the payroll of the companies she invests in as a media tool.

She gets in and out of stocks a lot, buys high and then sells way lower. No thanks for me. I give her credit for her Tesla call years ago, but nothing else.

Wait Matt, I think you missed the biggest point on residual values of EV's. By model Y price dropping 20% on the last year, it has put enormous depreciation pressure on every camparable ICE car too!
And. When people wake up that their ICE car is costing MORE, ICE depreciation is in for a doozy down hill run.

I think Elon is more like a cross between Eddison and Tesla he seems to be a more comoetent person than Edison and just as smart as Tesla. Edison went kind of Crazy when they went with AC Current and not his DC... Elon seems to be Smarter than that...
Elon is building a much more Disruptive empire Edison and Elon both gathered awsome minds together to make tremendous changes.
You say 5 years for others to solve FSD but Tesla started 7 yeahs ago with hardware, cameras, and software.
At a $2000 price that is over a six trillion dollar market cap, roughly the size of Saudi Aramco. While I believe that cap will be eventually exceeded (energy, autonomous, bot, dojo, crazy things we don’t know about yet, etc…) but I don’t see a path to that being achieved anytime soon. The only way I could see that by 27 is if they are able to get bot ramped to ridiculous volume. Which, again, is a very low probability.

Too many Tesla competitions recently. I see nonstop ev ads; Honda prologue, audi, Hyundai,ford, etc. then you have Rivian. A year ago EV = Tesla. Not anymore.

Whats with all the 10x share prices for Tesla thumbnails. Tesla is currently 175 dollars a share with a total market cap of 560 billion in a bull market. A 2000 dollar share equates to a market cap of 6.4 trillion! Microsoft currently holds the biggest market cap of 3 trillion and Tesla is getting lots and lots of fierce competition from China EV makers (BYD, Li auto, Xpeng, Nio etc.). If you think Tesla will be a 6 trillion dollar company within the near future think again. Tesla was a pioneer in the EV sector and they had a great run in share price these past years, but like Nokia back in the day, competition is here and its much better than Tesla. Tesla will never ever reach 6 trillion market cap lol.

Tesla 's constant price fluctuations have caused many customers and funds to withdraw long term as it tries to compete with Chinese evs...but I believe if elon can succeed with a desirable low cost 25k car that I Is not too small then margins will increase in 2025.bu as a tesla driver and seeing fsd improvement I expect fsd will finally be complete by 2030
I wish I had listened to her in 2019. Oh, I did. Hasn’t worked out very well, despite her always qualifying her predictions as five year targets. I don’t know anyone who can predict either. She’s still riding her timely Tesla advice back when Elon was somewhat of a mystery, not exposed as an asshole.
Range anxiety is real. I've come close to running out of charge a few times. These cars are not suitable for cold climates. My Tesla is my first electric car and unless a lot of things change it will be my last electric car.

Teslas goal is an in car autonomous AI to drive the car. Thats a huge strategic technology. Whats are the odds the Pentagon won’t allow that to be commercially released?

@@jackdowden4943 it didn’t hit 2k or 3k as she stated back then. I stuck to nvda, elf, and other and did waaay better. Look them up. I do have just 1600 shares of Tesla as well and will buy more as they drop further. Arkg went from 107 when she first mentioned her 5 year time horizon on it and it’s down to 30 lol. She also said the same thing about others and most are down big time. Anyway, imo she stinks. Yeah I may be wrong to you or others but as for me, she should not pretend to know the future and be able to see 5 years ahead.
Gotta wait for margins to improve due to current and future programs. This will take years. Investors say "show me the money!" No more "growth story" here. It's about the bottom line.

It's not going to be good when Trump begins reversing FJBs policies. The rebate and charger subsidies may be in peril.
