Thanks for highlighting the viewer's question about dealing with hand injuries and the after affects. Hand injuries can make things really tough, but they can also be a part of creating your own unique style. Django Reinhardt is probably the most famous example of this. Follow a devastating injury due to a fire, Django, playing with just two fingers, was able to master his instrument and create a style that has influenced thousands of (jazz) players for decades. I damaged my pinky on my left hand 40 years ago. Painful at first, I figured a path to continue my playing. Keep the faith.

Hi Tony and Noah, first off, thank you for doing what you do. I've been playing for several decades, but for the vast majority of that time, I've played electric guitars almost exclusively. The past 7 or 8 months of watching A.T. has motivated me to play more acoustic guitar in doing so I've been able to make significant progress in my playing. The thing that has always eluded me has been finger picking. Over the 56 years of my life, I,ve managed to fold, spindle, and mutilate my fingers and hands on multiple occasions. Because of this, I always thought finger picking would always be something I could only dream of. I recently went back and watched one of your short lessons on finger picking with the intent of at least making a small bit of progress.
The problem has always been my thumb, and the one thing I could never get was alternating between the low E and D strings on a G chorded chord, for example. I,m not too bad with a pick, but making the individual fingers do what I want them to do is a whole different story. I'm not one to give up on things, but I must admit, I was getting pretty discouraged.
This is where it gets good. NO #SMALLWIN HERE! For me, THIS IS HUGE!
Today, for no apparent reason, I picked up my Breadlove to spend a few precious minutes playing. Lately, I have gotten in the habit of always starting without a pick, just because I refuse to give up. The next thing I knew, everything just kind of clicked. I didn't even realize I was doing it, at first. I was just noodling. Then, suddenly, It hit me. I'M DOING IT!!! It's not exactly smooth, but I'm doing it.
I couldn't be happier right now, and I have you and all the fine people at Acoustic Life to thank for it. MY financial situation has kept me from signing up for TAC, but today, I made the decision that as soon as I can, I will. Acoustic Tuesday, in and of itself, has not only fulfilled my need for guitar geekiness, but has vastly improved my playing ability. Thanks you to all of you from the bottom of my heart.
    Grumpy MIke
    Hollywood, FL.

Dan Fogelberg.. I am from Peoria Illinois, Dan's hometown. The reason I mention this is Dan's mother and father, Margaret and Larry Fogelberg babysat my older sister and I. They were very musical people. Larry being band director at a local school and Margaret being a pianist. Although I don't remember Dan my mom tells me when he was in town I would just listen to him play as long as he would allow me too. That would of been the Early 70's... I think that's where I get my passion for music , guitar playing, and song writing..... Thanks Fogelberg's.. Truly amazing people...

Noah, I have to agree with Tony about coffee, when I'm drinking it, I want to taste it. And please quit age shaming, I'm 60 and I can't stand weak coffee. My go to at the coffee stand is a triple shot in the dark, but mostly I just make a mug of stove top espresso...

    Hello from Canada.
Adrian's playing almost seems unreal, very cool.
I said goodbye to a good friend, the first guitar I bought for myself, a Washburn classical. I gave it to a friend I am teaching to play who wants to play like Jose Feliciano.
    Thanks for producing these videos.

Noah - 60+ year olds here and we drink coffee like it is coffee. With real flavor. Can't see the bottom coffee. As for Tony's parents - well, for heavens sake they live in a place where they can be snowed in for weeks. They probably make their coffee weak so they can be sure it lasts until spring thaw. 😜☕️

This is in response to Jake Ruiz's question and dilemma regarding a non-working finger. I have a similar issue as you. You have a left ring fingertip that is unusable for guitar, I am actually missing my left index fingertip. (Was amputated in an accident) I didn't know what to do either. But, after considering various options, I simply switched my fingering technique. I use the remaining three fingertips to fret the strings, just shifting one finger to get the desired chords. And, barre chords have become more prominent. I have a natural barre finger now, and I use it more than I ever have. Not having that fingertip actually pushed me further into more advanced chords. That finger may not have a tip, but it can sure grip the guitar neck for any barre chord I need. And, check this out. Any chord played, can be played barred, and it sounds way better. I have actually progressed to a point better than I had been before the accident. Losing that fingertip actually resulted in my becoming a BETTER guitar player! So, I would suggest you don't make any major changes just yet. Just use your remaining three fingertips and start training them to take on additional tasks. I know we don't have exactly the same issue, but I do know this: Practice will get you everywhere you want to be. You can do it!

COFFEE(JO) OVER 60: Hey Tony and Noah, What a Great Geeky Show, as always! However I must say that there are those of us over 60 and Guitar Geeky who drink their JO to taste it. Not girly man flavored JO but Real Stout Coffe! In fact, I watched Acoustic Tuesday by late night, as I couldn't watch during the day and it was difficult as I worked to know I was missing one of the high points of the week. So I enjoyed the best Guitar Geek Show on line with a Fine Stout CuppaJO! Indeed, some visitors shy away from my JO saying it is too strong, loser girly people I say. Just to let you know. Love, Light, Peace and String Tickling! DaveyJO(Coffee) in Pa.

#SmallWin …. I'm Only A Beginner From Wellington, Somerset In The UK.... Just starting my 8th week, have bought myself a 2nd hand Electro/Acoustic but it needs a overhaul … Strings Etc... I Am replacing Coz :- Coz it looked badly worn, There were dips in the saddle where the strings were .... It was only plastic same as the nut was …. So I have replaced both with bone & also put on new strings , after giving the guitar a good spring clean .... So now am giving it a tune up & see how it goes …. Like I said it's Second Hand. Well …. Job Done, Sounds Great, No Buzz Or Vibrations 😀😀😀👍👍So now it's all done & dusted I'm Gonna call Her 'LADY LINDA' As the maker was Lindo Guitars Of Bristol, UK. About a fourty minute drive up the M5 Motorway, She was made in 2013 …. I have found the Date & It's Model HSSS-N …. While giving her a make over … It was to mark their 10th anniversary in 2013 …. Back, Sides, Neck & Headstock Are made of Mahogany, Top is Spruce, Fretboard & Bridge Made of Rosewood, £85.00 at auction on E-Bay …. Good Purchase I Think, apart from the Saddle, Nut & Strings She Is In Good Nick.😃😃

When you said Adrian Bellue, I thought you meant Adrian Belew, the legendary guitarist for King Crimson. I was watching the video of him playing and thought, wow he's reverse aging, plus he got all of his hair back. Amazing! On a guitar could make that happen. Then I saw the spelling and realized there are two Adrian B's in the world who are amazing players. That's cool! Three comments in a week - I'm exhausted.

Attention Jake Ruiz: re: your pinky finger problem. I posted about this on TAC very recently. By all means give left-handed a try. There's no particular reason why we use the dominant hand for picking; in fact a number of experts recommend the opposite. As it happens, my (adult) daughter took up guitar recently and I'm teaching her. She also has a permanent impairment of her left pinky, so she decided to switch to playing lefty. It took her NO TIME AT ALL to convert. Sure, she didn't have anything to unlearn, but still, I was amazed how easy it was. Your disability isn't going away, so you might want to try it as a more complete and permanent solution. She just restrung her guitar to left-handed and was away. Even though it's nylon strings and she'd never strung a guitar before, it took her maybe an hour. It's not a perfect solution, but she's not playing Carnegie Hall and it's more than good enough to get her going. She'll buy a guitar made for lefties when it suits her and her budget. Remember that a well cared-for guitar never decreases in value, so it's quite possible to sell your RH model and buy a LH version at little or no cost.

Greetings Tony and Noah from Gloucester, Va. My last new guitar day easily turned into a #smallwin shortly after. The guitar in question is a 2013 Samick Gold Rush D1 with a pearl white finish. I have been eyeing this model for years, and when Amazon had them listed for only 70 dollars, i knew it was the time to get it. It still blows my mind with how good it sounds. I plan on getting some bone bridge pins for it, but other than that, its perfect. Also, Deathwish Coffee has helped me through some really long days, but only drink one cup, or your heart WILL explode.

Gadzooks, Noah: I'm 63, and my coffee is definitely NOT weak! Usually only drink 2-3 cups a day (can't handle much more); but, I like my coffee strong and fresh - let it sit for an hour, and you might as well toss it out.

Tony thanks for the Klos review and tell your son I am with him on the Bowie songs! Tell him to try some of the XTC songs as well, another great band from the 70-80's.
The travel thing always kills me a little. First I only like small guitars so P-00. Putting the bridge too close to the waist can really choke off the response of the guitar. Making the Klos a 12fret would have really opened that guitar up a bit.
I have the Furch Little Jane which is really nice travel guitar and packs into a 17" x 8" high padded back pack (including my music, bag of stuff [i.e. cords, picks, extra strings, capo's, IE monitors etc...], MacBook). But when I get to where ever it is I am going, I kinda wish I had my Preston Thompson Parlor 2 or my Waterloo WL-S Deluxe.
BTW there is a cool video of Billy Strings and Molly up on the Preston Thompson site. What is that microphone system Billy is using?
Thanks great show as alway, Gordon from Cincinnati.
