Audi's been trying to get similar active LED's through highway safety for years now, so it's wonderful to see the technology finally being both allowed in and being developed by other OEM's as well. Sending them through a prism is a clever advancement.
One step closer to eliminating crashes :D
I have no loyalty to any brands, but this kind of stuff is why I keep finding that all the cars I like are from Audi, Toyota, and Tesla.

For the new RAV4 I think you have the choice to decide between this and a panoramic moonroof. I love my panoramic roof but this seems more useful and helps with safety.

I have a 2006 Toyota Wish that I am so proud however the headlight is so dim never be able to match up with Honda's headlight projector even older model end up I upgrade to retrofit Bi-Led unit. Glad to hear that Toyota put an effort to fix this issue on their upcoming models

Funny that the NHTSA says they started working on the regulatory issue in the US after a request from Toyota in 2013. Now that they were finally forced to update the rule they push out some garbage that doesn’t conform with the standard every auto maker has been using requiring them to adjust systems that work perfectly fine in Europe/asia.

Pěkné video. Takhle by to mělo fungovat. Bohu žel opak bývá pravdou. Kdysi mě na silnici oslepovala stará auta. Dnes oslepuji i hodně nová auta kterým světla nefungují správně.

How does this affect oncoming traffic? It talks about pedestrians and vehicles in front of you but not oncoming specifically. Are these like those bright blue headlights that just blind everyone?

@@OkieFarming - wrong, they are not "one in the same". LED head lights (like those used in the US) are *NOT* the same as adaptive beam head lights.

Can we also work on pedestrians not just blindly walking out in front of cars like they show in the video? I was taught that pedestrians have the right of way, BUT that doesn't mean a lot after you've been run over. In today's distracted driving society "look both ways before proceeding" should be that much more important.

Just one more thing to go wrong and cost a fortune to fix.
