What are the advantages of this part over the stock one other than one is plastic and one is metal? Does the stock one break a lot?

Not a lot, but the stock part will eventually break. These parts are for longevity. They will actually last longer than the blaster itself.

Too bad the priming block doesn't work with the bearing prime insert.

True, but I don't notice a major difference without it.
