Well... I just finished recommending to another reviewer who seemed to like drum analysis, Harvester of Sorrow. I was making an off comment at the end about the odd bass drum structure and how you can catch how wrong it sounded when it wasn't perfect, and searched to check myself. I was right. Cover drummers who miss that during the second half of the intro just get all cattywumpus and start sounding weird and off time. (usually they're on a single bass with a two stage pedal, I don't think it's possible with that setup) You sir, you nailed it. You nailed the bass footwork, and the rest of it. And this song is one where roaming off time is *instantly* recognizable. MUCH respect.
Man you are such a blessing to my buds and me as we jam our old Metallica favorites from the high school days. Absolute spot on performance. We've been playing the metal together since '85 and finding a drummer that can keep up isn't as easy as it used to be.
Dont believe this was peiced together maybe it was still an awesome display of double bass but i read an interview where lars said he practiced his ass off for a week or so and went in and cut the track he also stated that he was never obsessed with being lightning fast with the double bass and that he wanted his drum parts to have more swing to them more grove than just striaght blasting and speed ive always loved the lars of old era and was a big inspiration for me to start drumming no matter what people say to this day some of the fills on this album are iconic to me and i feel he has written some of the coolest drum parts that stick in your head and are unique where you definitely know its him
thats was so cool! two fuckin years damn near I've been working on this and that time i playing right along with you, except the parts u weren't note for note, lol!
After hearing ur motherfucking awesome performance I decided to try to capture the old tallica tone! Here's my attempt using the old MESA BOOGIE MARK III
I'm just curious to ask, do you render the audio by mistake with a lower quality than before? The audio is missing a bit of top end and in Lambchoppers collab the drums have the top end.
The editor I use doesn't mix down with wav like my last one. It's mp3 320kps. I'm gonna try AAC 256. Apparently that's is the iTunes standard. My media player won't play AAC files so I got turned off trying it.
Great work dude. I see from comments that you don't mind if people use it to record. Is it 92 or 93 BPM?? Did you use click? Trying to figure out how to synchronise it to my DAW
Hey Josh, awesome Drumming as always! ...I'm editing a video of me playing this song following your drums, let me know if is not a problem ...Saludos bro!
Hey do I have permission to use this for a cover?. I'm just using a software on my phone and it stays in my recording files, no where else, if I was to upload it to credit your amazing skills. Anyways rock on amazing as always.
And here lies the big issue with Larz . It's not just that he doesn't play double bass much any more or that his timing is off, it's just that he's so fucking lazy he can't even be bothered to play that nice little bass drum shuffle on the verses of harvester..
Lars may not have ever been the best metal drummer in the world but you got to admit the intro to Harvester is some of the coolest shit ever.

Thanks. I grew up with this album on repeat. I try to account for most of the nuances.
Meanwhile I'm here singing rather than jamming on my guitar to this. lol Great job.

+Josh Steffen You could also check the render settings in the video editing software.
+GuitarRazze I have. That's how I know what I know. It's another reason I hate upgrading shit. Quality=countless hours of pure frustration.
just enjoy the talent and quit knit picking.
+Josh Steffen What audio editor do you use?

@@joshsteffen hey I'm going to change the tempo and add some treble . I'm going to make it sound like the 91-93 era
do you do thrash metal covers? like kreator, Sodom, iced earth ect?
Welllll, this is technically thrash metal.
Well he should do more thrash metal stuff
+Aidan Miller "technically"
Well, he plays Exodus, that's something
u know its done well when you hear the song and the song is not playing
Can I use your video for my guitar cover?
These are here for you.
Lars wrote some of the best riffs ever made.
Why so bad quality??

+Влад Постников New editor at the time, wrong audio format.

And here lies the big issue with Larz . It's not just that he doesn't play double bass much any more or that his timing is off, it's just that he's so fucking lazy he can't even be bothered to play that nice little bass drum shuffle on the verses of harvester..
