I love that from what it seems, Lorefi seems to be designed to be an entry level arg. Using some obvious clues and incryptions to state that there is going to be some sleuthing required

Those butterfly cut outs on her tac board also remind me of the paper Butterfly Confetti seen at the Coldplay shows starting in 14 July 2008 for the "Viva La Vida" tour. It might be a coincidence though and not related to the story the GameTheory folks are trying to tell.
@@playmaster_plusyeah pretty easy if you think about it but then at 12:33 the message is talking about a new track which almost certainly places this story in the 2000s I was skeptical at first because maybe she was living the retro life in present day but she uses newspapers rather than watching the news which just compiles all the evidence into being in the 2000s just a idea
@@playmaster_plus Also adding credence this story probably takes place in the 2000s is that if her dad was born is 1964 and this was a modern day story he'd be in his 60s which is a bit old for a teenage daughter. Whereas if it was in the 2000s he'd be in his mid-late 30s which makes more sense for Taylor's age.
Yeah, everything in her room is timely for thr early-mid 2000s. Using that outdated of a computer would be a pretty big sacrifice just for being into retro stuff. Grapevyne is definitely a reference to Lymewire, gotta put yourself in matt pat's head for this. He's I wanna say 3 years older than I am and I graduated in the late 2000s so it seems like more research into stuff from the mid 00s will help with understanding Taylor's character.
Thank you for clarifying that film/game theory trailer for this. It had been a rather painful one for me-only my left hearing aid picked up a really high frequency and a mumbling. The high frequency was painful to hear and I never got an explanation why it had been like that.
I also like to point out the CD in the bottom right (our bottom left) of the room with the drawing of the sort of devil design. One of the words does say 'Devil' and I believe the last one says 'Tunes' so that could also lean into your 'Angel vs Devil' idea. The CDs seem important since they do have words on them so I spent hours trying to read all of them. Great summary of major parts though! I am still curious about that birthday card posted up though, maybe that'll have relevance at some point. Although one thing about the paper is that it might not point to Taylor being a great student but a struggling one. I, as a good student in school and knowing multiple others who had the same habits, actually kinda tossed our good grade reports because they weren't that important if we'd just get another A the next time. Meanwhile students who had difficulties with getting good grades took a lot of pride in their new grades so they ended up keeping those as a sort of motivational tool. So this led me to think either this was a project Taylor was proud of because it was a rare moment of academic success or that she genuinely was proud of the paper's contents since it was an important topic to her. I'm leaning more towards the former since the motivational tool approach makes more sense with it being pinned up rather than stored somewhere safer. But there was a question that nagged me too. Why listen to music off of her computer if she had a CD player (located on her bed)? Maybe to listen to the music she just downloaded but with the amount of CDs she looks like she has it looks like she could've burned one (the aforementioned CD with the devil imagery hinting that she at least writes the stuff on the CDs herself). Great video though!
I feel like the message from Gregory at the start is actually a video or audio ransom notice that Gregory's captors are forcing Gregory to record. He sounds nervous and a little bit like he's reading his words, perhaps at gunpoint. The recording of the end of Gregory asking his captors what they want him to do also seems to indicate that he's being forced to do the recording. I am also curious as to why you think the setting is close to present day. To me, the N64 controller, Gameboy Color, Tamagotchi, computer monitor, CD player, CDs, and the fact that Taylor's computer has a screensaver that she has to wiggle the mouse to close, all indicate that the setting is in the very late 90s, perhaps early 2000s. The board games also look like board games that would've existed back then. I could make out Perfection, Scattergories, and Trouble. I can't make out any of the books, so could you elaborate on which ones make you think that the setting is more modern?
@@grahammakesrandomstuff one of the main things is the CD that says it's a 2000s collection or something which seems to me that this takes place 2010 or above
My guess is that the CoolDad1962 may be her biological father and the person in the picture might be a step-father. Alternatively it is also possible that the male figure scribbled out in red might be an older brother or a male family member. CoolDad1962 might also be someone else entirely who sees himself as a father figure.
Feels to me like Gregory might have been recording some kind of ransom rather than a phone call. Everyday microphones and cameras at the time would have been terrible quality
Checked out Grapevyne, and it says "hope you feel much better" and "your mistake was not truly loving me". Also, in 1962, there were nuclear missile sites being built in Cuba, which were found by a US plane. RESEARCH, RESEARCH!!!
I believe that this series actually takes place late 2000’s early 2010’s, given how most of her things are from the 2000’s. I also believe this since she seems to be a young teenager (although I might be wrong) and her dad was born in 1962, and just by pure statistics it’s unlikely she was born any time post late 90’s early 2000’s, but it’s most likely earlier since most couples don’t have children near the end of their fertility. just my theory though
11:06 well if her dad and her mom would still be together I don't think her dad would have to send messages to talk with his daughter and by the question it seems like it passed a long time since they last seen/ talked to each other so that message probably would confirm that her parents did get divorced
